China has 1,4 billion people to manage. China cant afford too much hatred and negative influence.. that is what makes china today.. at the end of the day ordinary people only need peace and prosperity, that is what china government working on for the past 50 years.. one of the amazing result is : over 700 million chinese people out of poverty, many nation dont even have that much people right.. btw china still has the best government system so far in this planet. China is magnificent

@@OTWD_ytHi mate. All those service (google and etc) is not blocked in China. They choose not to service Chinese because they refused to abide to China's law. It's kind of similar some Muslim live in UK but refused to recognize British law.

sadly many westerners are so mind programmed by constant western propaganda about how great "freedom and democracy" is to the point, they are so used to child porn, drugs, homelessness, druggies, sh00tings, black lynchings in particular in the U$ is still common occurrences every few weeks, a black dude called Fortsons was recently sh0t for no reason by a kkk police, yet they want the whole world to think how great their illusionary freedom and democracy is!!!
The whole video, I can feel the British arrogance complaining about not enough people who are fluent in English in China. I only speak English and I traveled many places where almost no one speaks English. A lot of hand gesture, a bit imagination, and some understanding of local culture will make you guess 50% what people try to say, which is enough for tourists.
As Brits we are lazy with language and not use to the challenge but absolutely overwhelmed by kindness all the same.
they didnt even bring the opium into China. What else are you expecting from a drug dealer?
@@OTWD_yt I think it’s your natural reaction when you arrive in a new environment (especially a place that has been criticized negatively by Western media for a long time). But the real, vast China will definitely bring you a pleasant journey with rich natural scenery, urban culture, and especially delicious food. In terms of food, in big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, in addition to tasting local cuisine, you can also eat delicacies from other provinces. The Chinese people are generally gentle and kind, and the Chinese police will be willing to help. I wish you a happy journey~
@@tonycanton5611 thank you 🙏 we appreciate it
Everyone is so helpful. Of course, we are Chinese. Unlike those opium traffickers.
U guys should have done some home work. Speaking English should be ok in Beijing, it is common for the locals to learn the language, speak slowly. Not all can speak but you can find someone near to u to interpret. If chinese go to London, can Londoners speak Chinese, I guess their experience will be worse off than you.
I got ya. Just the first day. We only had 3 hours sleep 😂 next episode will be better. Coming on Sunday ❤️
Actually you are not constantly "watched". The accurate description is "recorded". At least for most of them. Should anything happen to you, the authorities would have a way to look for evidence.
Exactly! That's what people don't get, the government has better things to do than sit and watch 1.4 billion people's every daily move 24/7. We know western media make up things about this country all the time, but they don't even make it make sense haha. Sad part is people believe it without even question it.
Exactly!!! The government has better and more important things to do than sit and watch 1.4 billion people's every daily move 24/7. We know how many crazy things MSM says about this country, but they don't even make it make sense 😂. On top of that, most people believe it without question it.
It’s actually making us feel so safe ❤️
Actually London has more cameras than Beijing !
Monitoring itself requires cost.
No one will monitor people on the street for no reason, which is not economically feasible.
But if someone is stolen on the street, the stored video will become the most favorable clue.
Gentle reminder, many tourist places (like forbidden city, summer palace) need to book the tickets in advance.
Days in advance, I shall add. These two won’t see much in town without any preparation.
@@antiti4ever 7 days
Thank you 🙏
Would anyone know how foreigners coming to visit can book these tickets in advance?
@@Jaychoice Before coming to China, set up Alipay, eSIM, and VPN at least a week earlier. Book tickets online.
The apps/websites as FB, google etc are not blocked. These companies are not allowed to do business in China because they don’t want to adhere to the Chinese law. Apple,HP and Microsoft made other choices and are doing very well in China.

@@OTWD_yt After 2008, China passed the Data Protection Act, requiring data from China to be hosted in China, just like TikTok's data in the United States is hosted on Oracal. Apple agreed, while Google, Facebook and Twitter refused. Uber lost to DiDi in the Chinese market and simply sold its China business to the other party, with both parties having cross-shareholdings. After 2008, Amazon could only barely support itself under the attack of China's local e-commerce companies. To be honest, China's e-commerce platform is really strong. So we can’t say across the board that China has banned American apps. It won’t.
, China does not have a good government
Government brainwashes Chinese to hate foreigners and hides the bad stuff that happened in China because of communist takeover.
They also brainwashed Chinese to hate foreigners and on chinese media, the Chinese post stuff hating on foreigners and saying how happy they would be if all the people died except of China and russia.

In the end, blocked.
I can never understand how "season travellers" never bother to learn some basic phrases in the country they are visiting. Or use a translation App at least.
The world is not an Anglo world. A bit of the local language goes a long way and breaks down barriers.
People all over the world are generally helpful
I was stuck in Russia once and got very lost past midnight trying to find my way around the suburbs. I was told before going that Russians were rude.
I had learnt some phrases on the plane (These was a long time ago before smart phones and when they were switching flags from Communist to Russian)
Unfortunately for me the only phrase that stuck was "pardon me, where could I buy some Tampons"
Which wasn't particularly useful as the bus arrived at its final terminus and the only other passenger was a drunk Babushka singing likely bawdy Russian songs.
The bus driver asked me where I was suppose to alight (In Russian). I tried my best to mention the police stand in front of my communist anonymous (cookie cutter) looking high rise building.
Surprisingly, he muttered something under his breath in Russian, uttered the only English word he knew "Wait" and turn his bus around.
He took me (and Babushka) to a friend (By this stage it was way past 1am)...a young lady, pointed to her and uttered "English", she wasn't terribly happy to be roused from bed....
His friend obliged and asked me where I was trying to go. She mentioned that it wasn't very helpful to mention a police stand as a landmark since it was Moscow and there were quite a few police stands.
So she did the next best thing and popped me and the bus driver (Minus the Babushka who had passed out) into her tiny car, drove us down to a police station (Now it was 2AM)
The burly policemen tried to figure out my clearly poor direction sense. They in turn put me in a squad car and drove me around the bus route to figure out which police stand I was talking about. Eventually we ended up finding the place! 3AM
Russians aren't known for smiling but they were heart of gold trying to get me back safely. 😄
People surprise you and never listen to the propaganda about any country in the Anglo media. Utter nonsense.
That was a lot of fun that video, thank you for making and for visiting China, it looks brilliant.
Thank you mark 👍

The reason why there is less noise on the roads in China is because they are turning towards electric vehicles. There are indeed many cameras in China, but they do not affect normal people who work. China has a large population, and cameras can quickly find illegal people and deter you from stealing, and so on. China cannot use Google Maps app, but it can use the Gaode Maps app or Baidu Maps app. Chinese people are willing to help others. As long as you speak, most young people can speak a little English. There are also many Chinese delicacies, such as pancakes, fried meat skewers, Xiaolongbao, Beijing roast duck, and so on. You need to try.
Apple maps also work there.
Thank you 😊 we do feel so safe with all the cameras and thank you for the tips.

You may not know that the alley you pass by is actually a wealthy area. The houses may look a bit shabby on the surface, but almost every house is worth more than 100 million RMB, so the alley is filled with all kinds of luxury cars.
That explains why they were all covered?
@@OTWD_yt Most of these hutongs cost over million+ usd so the owners are very wealthy. Think of it as the British aristocrats who have an apartment in London to work in the city, but travel back to their manor houses in the countrysides in the weekends !
@@OTWD_ytThey cherish their cars and there isn't an underground car parking because those areas are local residences without being modernized. And the authority also doesn't want to demolish these houses downtown due to the prohibitive demolition complement. The clothes on these cars can prevent them from staying in the sun for too long and rain.
These old houses are in the best locations, so the prices are very very expensive.
On the other hand, the new high-rise buildings in the suburbs are much cheaper than these old houses.

✨ @15:20 China has many famous dark vinegars, aged for years (2 thru 100!!!) and they're on restaurant tables everywhere, NOT soy sauce! Different regions have their own variety, some made from malt and rice, some made from sorghum. Use sparingly on almost anything, they're great!
Amazing 😻
Its like balsamic vinegar, but they use rice wine instead of grape wine normally used to dip dumplings in northern cuisine like Beijing. Also many many young(not elder ones )Chinese can say some good English esp. in big cities like Beijing and Shang Hai and Guangzhou (each capital city of the provinces), if you need to ask people for help, try to find the young guys, haha! also Baidu translator is very helpful. The vpn is a trouble as you said ,haha! People in Weibo/微博 commented that it seemed you didn't take much time to make a plan and just explore it directly and bravely, haha! People living in a country like China with a population of 1.4 billion will find that there is very little use of English, which is why English speakers are far fewer compared to e.g. some small European countries.
Yes 👍 as a Brit we have become very comfortable and lazy with learning languages so it’s challenging for us but very fun. And everyone is soo nice to us.
为什么一定要会英语?我们有自己的语言与文字。而且更加历史悠久!就像我们有自己的社交App(微信,支付宝,抖音,小红书,高德地图)等,为什么一定要求我们用你们的App?
The surprising fact is that China has the largest population of Mandarin speakers as well as English speakers in the world ! Almost every child has gotten English classes in primary school. Can you say the same if any British or American kids have gotten Mandarin classes in their schooling ? Looks like only the wealthy ruling class in the US and the UK force their children to learn Mandarin because they know that is the future if their kids are going to do well in business.

Chinese people do not need ideologies and empty promises from politicians. They want safe, peaceful lives, good food, a roof over their heads, education and a good future for their children. If the government can deliver at least those basics then the people are at least satisfied. They don’t quarrel over what can or cannot be taught in schools or gender politics which are just basically ways cooked up by certain countries to divide the electorate to get votes.

It's quite miserable to keep switching subways on a rainy day. If you need help, you can actually ask the people around you; they would be happy to assist you and provide information. But you're just wandering around in rainy Beijing. It would have been good to learn even just one sentence of Chinese before coming, such as 'I need help, can you help me?' Even if the people around you don't speak English, they would get the police to help you. In China, the police are very willing to help ordinary people. I feel that you have suffered a lot, which was unnecessary.
China can indeed be said to be a cashless society. I haven't touched cash for several years, but it is still effective in circulation in China today, including in the future. It is effective to buy things with cash. If people who don't accept cash are illegal, they can call 110, but the reality is that some roadside vendors may not have so much cash to exchange for larger cash, so they really don't accept it, but supermarkets, facades, shopping malls and hotels basically store cash, and there is no problem in using cash at all.
I think cashless is east when we’re set up but after the first day the 2nd is always easier ❤️
