Powering her in, chopping the throttles during the flare, then full reverse immediately after touchdown...man, today's jets aren't flown the same way. Love it!

There is an error in the title at the end. It should say "thanks for listening and loving"

Ahh, memories. I flew on the DC-9 many a time as a kid and a young man when North Central, then Republic then Northwest used them. DC-9-30s, -50s and MD80s. Hard to believe that they used to fly in to little old CMX Hancock/Houghton up here in the UP, almost seems like a dream. A wonderful jet it was.

Wonderful video!! This brings back great memories for this 61 year old. Oh my did I fly the DC-9!! First flight in 1968 between STL and EVV on an Eastern Airlines DC-9-14. I flew the "9" many times on Delta and Allegheny from my hometown. Also flew on Ozark and North Central/Republic and Northwest DC-9s many times. I loved low ceiling nights at my house which was on the final approach path to runway 3 at EVV, now runway 4. The EVV "PXV" Pocket City VORTAC was only 5 miles SW of my house out in a farm field near the Ohio River. Delta's evening DC-9-32 from IAH, SHV, and MEM would fly right over around 8:30pm. I would run to my bedroom window and hear the JT8D's throttle up watching the planes belly beacon light reflect in the clouds. Back then the airlines kept good schedules and you could set your clock by them, not any more. Delta even flew their DC-9-32 down to Paducah, KY, MEM, JAN, and MSY from EVV as well. I flew Eastern Airlines DC-9 30s over to SDF, just an 18 minute hop from EVV, hard to believe they flew on that 100 mile route. Fare was only $25.00 back then. I would visit my friends often just to fly on the "9". Thank you so much for posting this beautiful video with the priceless sound of those JT8D's. Love it!!!

Great video and audio, of these legacy DC-9's, a workhorse for most of the legacy airlines earlier on. A pretty sturdy, well-built jet airliner. Great audio and nice sounds from the JT8D engines. No longer available to fly on, as Delta retired the old NWA DC-9 fleet a few years ago.

I read somwhere that George Lucus used the DC-9 engine sounds for the Millenium Falcon with some additional audio effects. I love the sound of the DC-9 and of the Falcon. I can definately hear a similarity. 'The Escape From Mos Eisley' scene (Escape from Tatooine), love the sound of those engines.

Enjoyed the vid & ur right, GREAT engine sound. Forgive me but prior to watching the vid I thought u may have gotten the aircraft mistaken for a 717, which looks identical to the DC-9 as it's basically a DC-9-30 w/engine & avionics upgrades...but after watching the vid, checking out the wings & flaps, & listening to how loud the engines were, ur absolutely right...DC-9 all the way. I was just shocked to see this classic aircraft I grew up flying still in service in '10...Enjoyed the vid ;-)
