As a bear player I am excited by a good chunk of the cards from Brothers War but Fade from history is not one of them. A lot of people misreading this card. Each player who has an artifact or enchantment gets a bear. So you nuke the board of artifacts and if everyone has artifacts/ enchantments each player gets a bear. Bears the way I play it leverages a lot of enchantments/ artifacts for pumps and anthem effects so a really nonbo tbh.
the way prof delivers "Spoilers: It's Urza!" has made it one of the funniest things I've heard all year. And it's only three short words! Bravo Professor, bravo.
On the topic of white card draw, Loran of the Third path is phenomenal. For 2W, it's a 2/1 vigilance, which destroys an artifact or enchantment on ETB, and has "tap: you and target opponent draw a card", which is great value and can be used for politics easily in EDH. Demolition Field is a fixed Field of Ruin which doesn't ramp the other two players, and thus will probably find its way into any deck with less than 4 colors. Titania's Command is a sorcery that can put into play ANY two lands from your library, exile a graveyard and gain life equal to the number of exiled cards, or even pump all your creatures by two +1/+1 counters. Calamity's Wake exiles ALL graveyards and prevents noncreature spells for the turn, as an instant for 1W. The Stasis Coffin is an annoying case. 3 mana artifact with "2, tap: exile it, you gain protection from everything until your next turn". It's not gamebreaker, especially since you have to cast it first and so opponents will see it coming, but the fact that it's colorless and gives you protections from everything bothers me, as if it ends up being better than we imagine, it'll just be an easy auto-include in every single deck. Portal to Phyrexia seems like a pretty good card in any deck based around artifacts or with way to cheat permanents into play. Each opponent sacrificing three creatures can reduce to nothing a lot of boards, and reanimating from any graveyard every upkeep seems especially good. Finally Myrel, Shield of Argive, is a really good card. It might not be in a lot of 99's, but its static ability is really good and it basically replaces Adeline as commander, and adds well in any deck that has it already. It especially shines in decks like Isshin, or decks that naturally have an amount of soldiers. Nice video as always Prof ! There's a lot to unpack for this set, and the flavor of it is really well executed too. Speaking of which, will you make lore-based videos, or do you reserve that for other content creators ?
@@heraldofv3379 Honestly not a fan of the temporal anchor. It could be good, but only being able to play the cards during your turn and the fact that they're exiled forever if the anchor gets removed or blinked are big drawbacks, and its hefty cost of 3UUU really doesn't help.

As someone who plays against a lot of decks that play with their graveyards to cast their creatures, Calamity's Wake is pretty incredible. 1(w), instant speed, exile all graveyards and silence noncreature spells for that turn? I love it.
Interesting thing to note about the prototype mechanic is if you "flicker" the creature it enters as the 7/7 side :) So you can cast it for 4mana (enters as a 3/3) and copy something (preferably with an etb ) then flicker it ( for like 1 mana) and copy something else getting another etb or different abilities but entering as a 7/7 :V You spend 5 mana for 2 etbs and a 7/7 :)
@@Dracinard Doubtful. This is an upgrade in every way except not hitting artifact creatures or enchantment creatures, but the artifacts and enchantments you care about the most aren't creatures anyway (after all, creature removal is main-deckable).

Haywire mite is a very good card that is a bit under the radar in my opinion. Very good green removal and even better in a graveyard deck like meren or Muldrotha

Portal to Phyrexia is so good in a graveyard recursion deck that uses spells that return target permanent from your graveyard to play. Popping that thing out early in any graveyard deck is SO good.
The Temporal Anchor seems really cool to me. Combining card selection and card advantage in a way that feels very blue. And in the right niche decks (e.g. Elminster, or Siani), it could provide a lot of value.
Prof, good picks, love the uncommon hulking metamorph for my Braids, Conjurer Adept deck. But I want to make a very public PSA about rootpath purifier, I think that card is nuts.
I really enjoyed this video. My brother from another mother and I recently got into commander after playing years of modern and tabletop. He's a green mage and I'm a blue mage. I was grinning with the blue hate and simic is my favorite combination after starting out with a rakdos pirate starter deck. (Red and black are my 2 favorite colors) Was looking forward to brother's war, and after watching this I want to look into fitting some of these cards after I just built a mono blue commander deck
The number one cards for me are reprinted artifacts with retro borders, but my playgroup is pretty pushed and not very casual. Keep up the cool content professor.

Tocasia's Welcome triggers whenever a LOW CMC creature enters. Force of Savagery will trigger it (An 8/0 from Future Sight that costs 2G). Steel Leaf Champion will trigger it (A 5/4 Elf Knight that can't be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less). The 4/4 zombie warriors that Oketra makes will also trigger it (Token creatures that aren't copies of another creature have a cmc of 0). While low cmc tends to correlate with small creatures this isn't always the case.

Tiny little addition that I absolutely love, Loran's Escape. Having that spot protection for a creature or artifact is pretty good, especially just for one white mana, right up there with Blacksmith's Skill. Love the variety that mono white is getting lately

There are several direct upgrades in my Daretti, Scrap Savant deck in this set, and I'm really happy about it! Though it's getting more and more tempting to swap commanders to add mroe colors in... but the novelty of a Mono-Red deck is keeping me there for now.
Fade From History seems like Rampage of the Clans but at sorcery speed vs instant. Rampage: Converted Mana Cost:4 Types: Instant Card Text: Destroy all artifacts and enchantments. For each permanent destroyed this way, its controller creates a 3/3 green Centaur creature token.
I pulled a wormcoil engine at pre release and I ended up building a really awesome jund deck with it as one of my bombs, I always thought that three colour decks in events like pre release arent that good but not this time

Gotta disagree with the last card, honestly quite overated. I do think the best card in the set however is indeed green in the form of root path purifier, turning all lands in your deck and on your field is such a strong ability. Evolving wilds into a Gaia's cradle seems a bit to ridiculous no? In land fall decks, you can even use fetch lands to get other fetch lands. Awaken the woods is also way harder and slower to pull of, not to mention in green it is most likely a 1 time thing. I'm open to feedback however
As an Ayula player I am all too familiar with players seeing bear on the text/ typeline and assuming its good. For one Fade From history is not strictly better then most white effects of this nature. You are giving your opponents a creature when you destroy their stuff and at best you will only be giving yourself one. This has middling upsides at best. Its frankly worse than that though as fringe tribes like ayula leverage artifacts and enchantments for pumping/ tribal effects in order to close out games so you really do not want to be running cards like this in general in that deck. This is Ruxa all over again...
I'm currently building a powerstone-centric deck, and Wreck Hunter and Great Desert Prospector have massive potential when combined with Eldrazi Displacer. Use the mana from the powerstones they create to blink them and create even more powerstones in an exponential growth... possibly infinite if you include Amulet of Vigor. I'm debating on the actual commander to use, though... right now it's a toss-up between Reaper King and Jan Jansen.

To be honest, this was probably the most fun box to open regardless of cost. I cracked a set booster box and got teferi, saheeli, phyrexian Mishra, urza the prince, and a whole bunch of retro artifacts I loved. Including mox amber and retro foil helm of the hosts. I had to duke out extra for the rootpath purifier

Awaken the Woods also buffs 'creature count matters' cards like Circle of Dreams Druid and Shamanic Revelation... while ramping you.^^ Also remember that this will trigger any 'when a creature etbs cards' in addition to 'when a land etbs cards' gaining you life from Essence Warden or letting you 'explore' with Path of Discovery. If you're feeling particularly evil drop an Awaken the Woods with an Aura Shards out.^^
Yea hostile negotiations seems like its gonna be pretty good. 4 mana draw three lose three would already be not too bad since theres 4 mana draw two spells. But it is essentially draw three, mill three, lose 3 which in black theres countless ways to take advantage of your graveyard and so they typically want their graveyard filled. Overall seems like a very good card, oh also it has the added benefit of being instant so you can do it at end step!
I'm planning on changing up my Yeva, Nature's Herald deck, and had already put Fade from History on the list of possible cards to add in to the deck. Liberator, Urza's Battlethopter is on my maybe list for my Alibou, Ancient Witness deck (just finished it, and looking forward to playing it a few hours from the time of this post). I have several other decks I want to build and am brewing up, but it takes time and $$...

I really wanna get a Mishra's Bauble, I think it is such a good cantrip that can play in most decks, even mono white, for free, the only downside is that it takes 1 turn to get the card, but it is such a cool cantrip
I’ve been watching it go under the radar, but I’m real big on Tocasia’s Dig Site. I think it’s an outstanding card that fits a lot of edh decks. Being able to surveil on a land is incredibly powerful.
It only ever gives colourless, so that's for most decks a huge downside. Mono colour or artifacts only will like this multi colour will probably skip this. Reliquary tower and such are most likely higher on the list for most decks that do run some colourless.
Fade from history is also cuter than the other cleansers, although I'm still a fan of both austere command and farewell as top contenders for that spot
I wish i had screen shot it.... I had an amazing conversation over "Amazon Customer Service" text chat today. It was about Shipping and logistics. Neither of these 2 Employees had ANY idea that Magic cards or the TCG(generally speaking) collectors market in their hands has/had a Rampant (maybe an aggressive word here) problem with, what we shall call "Unsealed/Manipulated product". NO Idea. So that leads me to question how they escalate and Quantify these types of issues in the "hopes" of solving the problem for the customers sake. i personnally would think they would by nature of the A.I. to person transfer after you escalate your Ticket would have a host of statistic concerning the product and market for the product.... i mean if "customer service" wants to help the customer might it be prudent if they atleast knew a little something about the issue which has had NO Doubt been recorded the company. Internal theft External theft type stuff generally speaking the figures exist somewhere already.... why does my customer service agent have to be As un informed as the A.I.? IDK weird conversation. not to mention being shipped a box from across the nation when you ordered the product from a store Within you own State..... the gas alone, Christ, what a waste of money and resourses..... like shipping hobos to a different city.... it aint a box anything rare just bs lmao

While it's not super flashy, I think, so far, my favorite card from this set has to be Recommission. Sure, it only really hits small things, but that can bring back quite a lot of stuff from a graveyard.
I know you are right about your LGS plug but my LGS I went to for over eight years told me to get lost and never come back. All I did is refuse to disclose my vaccine status as it is confidential medical information. Well the owner went ballistic and told me I have no right to keep it from him and had me leave. So now I have no LGS.

Teferi, Temporal Pilgrim is my favorite card. I have a tribal Teferi commander deck that I really enjoy playing not really competive but it's fun.

In colorless commander decks Liberator, Urza’s Battlethopter seems awesome. Kind of just a better Vedalkin Orrery.
They are like shimmer mir really vulnerable to removal

Gotta disagree with the last card, honestly quite overated. I do think the best card in the set however is indeed green in the form of root path purifier, turning all lands in your deck and on your field is such a strong ability. Evolving wilds into a Gaia's cradle seems a bit to ridiculous no? In land fall decks, you can even use fetch lands to get other fetch lands. Awaken the woods is also way harder and slower to pull of, not to mention in green it is most likely a 1 time thing. I'm open to feedback however
While not technically in the BRO set proper, Sardian avenger is some insane treasure hate. Getting two for my Kardur and Moraug decks
Hostile Negotiations is such a cool card! The bluffing aspect of it reminds me a lot of poker.
As an Ayula player I am all too familiar with players seeing bear on the text/ typeline and assuming its good. For one Fade From history is not strictly better then most white effects of this nature. You are giving your opponents a creature when you destroy their stuff and at best you will only be giving yourself one. This has middling upsides at best. Its frankly worse than that though as fringe tribes like ayula leverage artifacts and enchantments for pumping/ tribal effects in order to close out games so you really do not want to be running cards like this in general in that deck.

I'm currently building a powerstone-centric deck, and Wreck Hunter and Great Desert Prospector have massive potential when combined with Eldrazi Displacer. Use the mana from the powerstones they create to blink them and create even more powerstones in an exponential growth... possibly infinite if you include Amulet of Vigor. I'm debating on the actual commander to use, though... right now it's a toss-up between Reaper King and Jan Jansen.

I am super excited! I am indeed purchasing a box and drafting with my friends and family. I also need a PS4 to play FFVIIR. awww Dammit have I gotta learn how to budget.
To be honest, this was probably the most fun box to open regardless of cost.
I cracked a set booster box and got teferi, saheeli, phyrexian Mishra, urza the prince, and a whole bunch of retro artifacts I loved. Including mox amber and retro foil helm of the hosts.
I had to duke out extra for the rootpath purifier
I absolutely loved this set. Except the transformers cards.... every time I pulled one I was disappointed knowing it took a Mythic slot.
Yo Prof, can we get an updated best-of-the-best list of sleeves, deck boxes, carrying cases, binders, etc.? It's been a while since we've seen a new one, and it would be handy for Christmas shopping. Big fan!
Concerning Liberator: morph spells are also colorless spells. Concerning morph: Can I have new morph cards, please?

Recommission is essentially a white unearth that also targets artifacts for 1 more mana, gonna be looking forward to trying it out

4:38 you can pair Tocasia's Welcome with Skrelv's Hive from All Will Be One if you want to guarantee that card draw every turn
Awaken the Woods also buffs 'creature count matters' cards like Circle of Dreams Druid and Shamanic Revelation... while ramping you.^^
Also remember that this will trigger any 'when a creature etbs cards' in addition to 'when a land etbs cards' gaining you life from Essence Warden or letting you 'explore' with Path of Discovery. If you're feeling particularly evil drop an Awaken the Woods with an Aura Shards out.^^

Gruul Awaken the Woods + Mana Geyser and any copy spell seems fun. Season with Purphoros and Impact Tremors to taste.
Tocasia's welcome is definitely going on my spirits deck.
Yea hostile negotiations seems like its gonna be pretty good. 4 mana draw three lose three would already be not too bad since theres 4 mana draw two spells. But it is essentially draw three, mill three, lose 3 which in black theres countless ways to take advantage of your graveyard and so they typically want their graveyard filled. Overall seems like a very good card, oh also it has the added benefit of being instant so you can do it at end step!

Since it says "colorless spells and artifact spells" rather than "colorless artifact spells", it does work with Bolas's Citadel.

I'm planning on changing up my Yeva, Nature's Herald deck, and had already put Fade from History on the list of possible cards to add in to the deck.
Liberator, Urza's Battlethopter is on my maybe list for my Alibou, Ancient Witness deck (just finished it, and looking forward to playing it a few hours from the time of this post).
I have several other decks I want to build and am brewing up, but it takes time and $$...

Urzas sylex seems pretty good in my Aminatou planeswalker deck. Blink it with the fateshifter pay 2 tutor for a walker! whats not to love!
Yeah Awaken the Woods is an insane card, especially with the new Titania (non-meld version). So good, I’m thinking about building her.
So I’m assuming you weren’t including the pack BRC cards, because if you were then Rootpath Purifier would be on the list. So excited about the possibilities…

I really wanna get a Mishra's Bauble, I think it is such a good cantrip that can play in most decks, even mono white, for free, the only downside is that it takes 1 turn to get the card, but it is such a cool cantrip

I’ve been watching it go under the radar, but I’m real big on Tocasia’s Dig Site. I think it’s an outstanding card that fits a lot of edh decks. Being able to surveil on a land is incredibly powerful.
Yes! I and another friend think this will eventually be a staple when people see the potential.
It only ever gives colourless, so that's for most decks a huge downside. Mono colour or artifacts only will like this multi colour will probably skip this. Reliquary tower and such are most likely higher on the list for most decks that do run some colourless.
Fade from history is also cuter than the other cleansers, although I'm still a fan of both austere command and farewell as top contenders for that spot

I had an amazing conversation over "Amazon Customer Service" text chat today. It was about Shipping and logistics. Neither of these 2 Employees had ANY idea that Magic cards or the TCG(generally speaking) collectors market in their hands has/had a Rampant (maybe an aggressive word here) problem with, what we shall call "Unsealed/Manipulated product".
NO Idea. So that leads me to question how they escalate and Quantify these types of issues in the "hopes" of solving the problem for the customers sake. i personnally would think they would by nature of the A.I. to person transfer after you escalate your Ticket would have a host of statistic concerning the product and market for the product.... i mean if "customer service" wants to help the customer might it be prudent if they atleast knew a little something about the issue which has had NO Doubt been recorded the company. Internal theft External theft type stuff generally speaking the figures exist somewhere already.... why does my customer service agent have to be As un informed as the A.I.? IDK weird conversation. not to mention being shipped a box from across the nation when you ordered the product from a store Within you own State..... the gas alone, Christ, what a waste of money and resourses..... like shipping hobos to a different city.... it aint a box anything rare just bs lmao

Awaken the woods is a must in Magus deck, so simple, and so much value.
though filled with good new cards, the set is also full of surprise cards not listed, so yeah, I believe what you say about the need to buy singles....chance of finding what you want is at an all time low.
Scavenged Brawler from the commander decks is gonna be a really nice fit in my Trazyn deck. Same thing with Wire Surgeons.
While it's not super flashy, I think, so far, my favorite card from this set has to be Recommission. Sure, it only really hits small things, but that can bring back quite a lot of stuff from a graveyard.
I know you are right about your LGS plug but my LGS I went to for over eight years told me to get lost and never come back. All I did is refuse to disclose my vaccine status as it is confidential medical information. Well the owner went ballistic and told me I have no right to keep it from him and had me leave. So now I have no LGS.
