Sheidt is one of the only doom metal guys I’d say really transcends the genre and is doing something that’s completely his own thing. He’s a true artist in that sense. He’s very talented. His music sounds a lot like orchestral music to me. It’s layered which is very odd for doom metal. It also feels more sorrowful than the usual pessimistic tone doom has. His voice is great too. Yob’s really awesome .
I have been playing guitar for 31 yrs with a jazz theory background and obsession with bluegrass and Mike has brought a whole new inspiration to my playing the guy is god tier
I saw Yob 3 nights ago, fulfilling my life's biggest item on the buck list. Front row, watching and listening in amazement. I have seen thousands of show in my 61 years. But Yob is Love.
i agree with everything you've said. these guys are somewhere outside a lot of the other things. doom doesn't necessarily require transcending though, in my book. we've had some creators and some stubborn stalwarts; all of which i'm a fan of. i don't think that form has reached it's apex of gestation yet. remains to be seen.
I really like how during live shows, Yob doesnt face the crowd, they actually face each other, so its like youre watching them play in their garage or studio. Its really refreshing, you get to see them communicate with each other all these non-verbal queues.... it makes for a much tighter performance.
james brown would call out band members while they were playing live, if they made a mistake that he noticed. it would either be a gesture, or some short phrase, maybe a laugh or a jb grunt, something, but if you watch closely you can sometimes see this, however his band was pretty good live and made few mistakes, it is awesome to see a band with rapport with each other.
Maxime Bellec yea, Scheidt is probably one of the most versatile vocalists in the Doom sub-genre, although in my opinion YOB is just in a whole league of there own within Doom
First.Time.Listening.To.Yob. Holy Fuck how did I never heard of them? Their music is atmospherically menacing but at the same time beautiful... it has been a long time since I felt this way about a band!
It's insanely hard to play that slow. To keep it in control like this is incredible. YOB are amazing. Those dissonant voicings remind me of Piggy from Voivod in the best possible way.
YOB has made my life a little easier to handle!! The ups & downs of my little life have become a bit less drastic when I am centered..and YOB's music is cathartic for me as I am sure it is for them as well as many others who enjoy them. Our Raw Heart is more than just an amazing album, it has deeper meaning and emotes feelings that for me ar haunting and beautiful at the same time!! Any fan of this band already knows how special they are and how powerful the music is but if you really let yourself go and just drift away while listening to YOB ORH it can take you on a journey which can be different each time. I also recommend listening to the full album in one sitting if possible. I've gotten so much from this one album alone that it is possibly the most important album in my collection. For everyone there is that one album that does something magical for them or to them and for me its Our Raw Heart!! I went off on a rant there but I think its an important album and should not be overlooked!! (YOB is LOVE & LOVE is YOB)
Very well filmed, the lights are awesome, the sound is excellent. And we need more heavy bands like this in the Green Room. I really love you guys, thank you.
YOB can’t really be compared to anything man, they’re their own beautiful, monolithically heavy, crushing thing.. especially on Our Raw Heart you can tell the three of them have suffered and broken through. Mike’s struggle with major depression and illness, and his immense strength and new will to recover, show greatly. Things like that never truly go away, but recovery is possible. YOB shows us that.
YOB is the journey of the human soul. YOB is the true self, the Atma. YOB is life, the oneness with all there is. The connection, the ties that bind us all, with all we see. YOB IS LOVE…🙏🏼🙏🏼
It is absolutely impossible to do anything besides when listening to Yob... i got absorbed by instant and lost myself once more in an absolute killer perfomance! I deeply hope, after all this bullshit around us has ended i will be able to see them live just once!
I hope you saw them! They toured the USA for the first time post-COVID and I drove 4 hours one way for the chance to see them for the first time. My favorite live show ever and I was as close as this cameraman.
@@travistaylor4654 unfortunately i live in Germany, the guys don't come here very often. I understand they can't tour Europe regularely because they only play in small venues. But i stay positiv and wait for my time to come. Anyway i'm very happy that you had such a great experience. You took a lot of effort but it was worth every mile!
No kidding. I straight up just sat in the parking lot of the grocery store before going in for like 40 mins because Clearing the Path to Ascend wasn't over yet 😂

Its seems to me, that those who have a deep admiration for YOB' music, are very spread apart. I've tried sharing them over years; only with very little appreciation for it in response. So glad I was able to see them in Detroit the 2018 though, after having missed them on west coast in 2011 w/Nuerosis.
Hell yeah! A live session where the band actually plays the song SLOWER than the album version, instead of rushing through it! Our Raw Heart is an amazing song.
I'm so glad Yob are getting their respect & dues now. I was telling anyone who'd listen back when 'Illusion' and 'Unreal' came out. It took a few more years but now we can see how influential they've been.
This is awesome, I was lucky enough to see this guys live in Germany, right in front of Mike's cabs. Best deafening tone I've ever heard in my life, that concert was something to behold.
I just found yob, i like it. It reminds me of HUM (with a little bit of HELMET), but heavier and muddier of course. They should tour with MASTADON. Good stuff 💪

"so how long will your set be"
"oh... Just three songs"
Local Band Zebulon Pike. 1 hr 10. 3 songs.
I've seen them play a 45 minute set consisting of only 2 songs lol. Obviously, one of those songs was Catharsis.
Exceptional recording. Outstanding. Standing ovation. Outstanding standing ovation!!!

Maxime Bellec yea, Scheidt is probably one of the most versatile vocalists in the Doom sub-genre, although in my opinion YOB is just in a whole league of there own within Doom
his vocals could move mountains
This band is on another level. I really enjoy the slowed down version of Our Raw Heart and Mike’s vocals on this are insane.
Yob is one of those bands where you quit your crappy job if you're scheduled to work the night they are in town.
Best comment, so on target, so direct ever!!! ❤✌🐇
They came to Ottawa and I had a gig that night. Big payer too. Was NOT a happy camper. I believe Bell Witch opened.
Goddamn! I'm on a holiday when they're playing in my town now in May. I'm considering cancelling the holiday!
Will there be a 'What's in my bag' episode with the band?
yes please!
These guy's bags are made out of the fabric of the universe. Everything's inside.
