I worked construction with Aaron Rieseberg’s dad in Salem Oregon and as much of a metalhead as I am, I had vaguely heard of this band until a conversation sparked up one day at work about how much I love the band Tool....His dad said “my son is in a band that opened for Tool a few times”, I almost didn’t believe it at first but it made me look up this band and I’ve loved them ever since....good music has a way of finding you....
Funny, I found these guys when I saw them open for Tool. Don’t remember what year it was. They were the only opening band. Wife and I were pretty fucking high on mushrooms and I remember telling her that I need to find out who they are. Been in my top 5 fav bands ever since.
YOB>Tool Tool just tends to remake the same song over and over. They are actually quite boring...especially live. Saw them in Portland years ago when my Gf bought tickets as a surprise BD gift. Tool fans had no clue what Fantomas were, who opened, and that in itself shows the level of "toolshed" they can become...anyone that can claim to love music, metal in this case, and boo King Buzzo and Dave Lombardo off the stage are a feckless bunch. We left 5 songs in. They all blurred together. As any quasi-pretentious Tool fans biggest go to goes: "you just don't understand" They were/are right...I don't understand the adoration or the worship, because I fully grasp music of all kinds. Sure, Danny can mash...but its wasted talent in probably the most overated act in existence and their best material was their very first EP. The rest is pretension defined because they clicked with a bunch of lazy kids who were moved by their first exposure to progressive chords, and went WHOA...when progressive bands have been around since music was being made.
I've seen Yob mentioned in many a doom and other metal discussions over the years but only recently randomly watched a live bit on RUclips, then delved down a rabbithole of other videos. Promptly grabbed tickets within minutes of finding out they were playing at a brewery near me this last summer too. I can't believe I slept on them for so long. The live show was phenomenal.

Yob are an 'all killer no filler' kinda band, every riff counts, and, wow, his response that you pointed out, that is the true magic of awesome riffs! It made me smile just seeing it! 😀

This is probably the best Yob live vid I've ever seen. Fantastic tune, performance, setting, and capture -- even with the bass cutting around 10:45; but then they're all smiles. Totally flowed with it. All 3 of them were in perfect harmony here. So crushed that Travis isn't with them anymore.

First time I saw YOB live, they played this. The emotion, the dynamics, everything about it... brought me to tears right there in the front row. Still to this day the greatest performance I have ever seen.

This band is straight up special. Magic doesn’t come around like this often. But they’ve also worked extremely hard. They’ve always been good, but they are as solid as it comes now...absolutely awesome.
Zeppelin was the soundtrack to my life in the late '70s early '80s. For at least the past decade YOB has been it - it goes deeper than just liking their music, Mike speaks to my heart and soul. Can't wait to see them live again.

I had a genuine religious/mystical experience during their set when they played this song. They're the real deal. I thought I'd be in a moshpit at some point during their set. Instead I was enraptured in a transcendent moment of awe.
I saw them in San Diego two weeks ago as well, and man I still feel it, it left me with a need to hear this live again and again, next time they are on tour I think Im going to follow them for three shows at least lol

I stargazed to Beauty In Falling Leaves with one of my very best friends on a Thai island after I hadn’t seen him for years and I will never forget it as long as I live. I adore Yob 🙏 x
I wish that vocal where Mike shoots the power of the universe out of his mouth at 10:27 was in the album version. Also, props to the rhythm section on this. They make this sound huge! And I love that end section where everyone is smiling with Mike.
At 10:45 when the bass drops out…I’ve seen people here lamenting that, but I actually think it makes the next eight bars much more profound when it does kick back in.

I came to these guys thru Emma Ruth Rundle. She's a very gifted hipster folk singer who said in a video "I listen to YOB's new album more than anyone these days. You guys are so good, you turn hipster folk singers metal! (Truthfully, she's just one of those old souls, IMO. They know good music when they hear it)
