I found Yob and this specific album at an incredibly hard time in my life. I'd ruined myself with too much work combined with too much alcohol and pretty much ruined all my relationships around me. My brother and I nicknamed eachother Bone and Marrow (only in Norwegian, Bein and Marg). I got it tattooed on my fingers, he got it on the side of his palms. We were sitting in my apartment, me being ruined physically and mentally, he with his problems conserning drugs and depression. He had recently introduced me to Sleep, and while shuffling songs this came on. I laughed first at the title being the very name he'd given me, but we listened in silence as we used to. And I had a revelation, I clearly saw myself from outside of my own body, I saw the damage, the hate, the anger at the world and everyone who failed me and me being a failure and I was tired. I decided to wipe it away, to release all the tension deep within my marrow. And I cried, for the first time in years, I cried for hours, me and my brother. Bone and Marrow. When he died 4 years later, this kept me going. I remembered that day when I finally opened my eyes, and yet again decided to let it all go. My anger towards him for leaving me behind and choosing a road I could never follow, my hate of the people who didn't help him, me being a failure for not seeing his pain. Brother, if you're out there somewhere, I hope you're listening to this as well I love you. I fucking miss you.
I went camping with some friends last year, was just the three of us, we did mushrooms and the three of us listened to yob for hours. This song came on and really stuck with me. that night was one of the best nights I’ve ever had. Words can’t describe the experience

This song is like a timeline of my past depression and i think in some way it saved me. It has utter darkness, despair, tragedy and sorrow and in the end all that is left is light, the brighest and warmest ive come across in a long time. YOB IS LOVE is 100% true...

Imagining this playing the night you discover a long abandon Gothic monastery buried deep into a hillside surrounded by a wild, twisted woodland. You seek cover inside, as the rain and wind howls. You are met with the beautiful sight of endless hallways and staircases leading to a massive vaulted library room. You huddle next to a majestic sized fireplace watching the fire crackle and hiss. Behind all the moss and ivy, this ancient derelict was alive and grasping for new life. You could feel it through the endless hallways, and beneath the broken stone, rotten timbers there was something reliving memory through the foundations below. The falling dew drops echoed through the building as they gracefully landed. It was certainly picturesque but yet it was empty, devoid of activity..whatever was here before had long since died. There was a tinge of sadness about leaving this magnificent beauty, as you followed a path out of the rumble. It was truly awe inspiring, yet forgotten....until now.

Listened to this song hundreds of times, and still don't know the lyrics. They're superfluous actually, the music and the voice say it all...just how I feel.
Here you go:
All these things
That have come to pass
Emptied well
Of times that never last
Rhythms speak
Sun to winter's call
Pouring forth they
Beckon to enthrall
Burnt clean eyes
Reach into our graves
Into the scars
Of our truth
Of life within
The stars
All these words
Are dust within my mind
In these times
That burn within our sight
Yearning to know
Deep into the marrow
Fall
And see
When there's no ground
To feel
To endure
Rise in the heart
Time will crawl
To the sea
Time will fall
Inside the dream
Weathered stone
Rivers running deep
Flying wings
In skies that never sleep
Earthly blood
Speaking in the stone
Sounding calls
That want us to believe
Cleansing flames
Burn into the night
Into the scars
Of our truth
Of life with
The stars
Restless souls
Flickering light
Painted in gold
Tearing at the seams
Needing to feel
One true moment
Needing to feel
Something true
They can be superfluous but they're as deep as the entire song...

Only two songs have ever made me cry in my life: Wings for Marie (part 2) by Tool, and this one
I have trouble listening to WfM pt2. Almost too personal.. visceral.. an emotional beatdown.
Yet I still listen to it at least once a week.
Brandon S A totally different type of song (depressive black metal ish) but give Woods of Desolation's Unfold a listen, gets me everytime.
Nicky Viper This Autumn Light is the one that gets me from As the Stars, but not as bad as Katatonia's Gateways of Bereavement, and Brave...
Brandon S i understand, i have such a personal connection to Wings/10,000 Days, it makes me tear up everytime
if this makes you cry you probably shouldn't listen to "either way I lose" by nina simone. Could get ugly. Great song nonetheless BYOB
im crying....wtf..its so beautiful. to be hearing this.
Top ten modern metal bands and songs
one of the greatest songs ever written.. transcending
The emotional depth of this track is absurd... i get dragged in by instant. This is fucking wonderful, man. Thanks to the guys from YOB.
Simply a beautiful and moving song and I can give it no better compliment.
So powerful, I had to stop for a while before playing the next track because this one just took me away, thank you Yob for the journey I took with this masterpiece...
This song evokes emotion and paints a picture in my mind. A true masterpiece. Great work!
Who says doom can't be beautiful? This shit is awesome.
Try Warning - Watching From a Distance. I think its as beautiful as this
Light inbetween noise & darkness. Atmospheric perfection!
One of the best songs I've ever heard \m/
Heard this song on liquid metal station. Randy Blythe ended his program with this one. Have always been a fan of YOB, but hadn't yet heard this one.....IT IS AWESOME!
This song, literally ten times listened to over about a month has already made me become ok with the passage of time. Thank you. I aspire to make something as transcendent of genre and/or timeless. Peace and good fortune to all reading and listening in this fucking age of doom!!!
This song has me so hooked. Its that climactic build up.
Really fitting vocals for the track as well
excellence
It truly sounds like if Pink Floyd would have played doom metal. This is psych-doom heaven.
Nailed it. I think at one point I almost said, "and iiiiiiii am.. comfortably numb."
Except not grouchy and bullshitty like Floyd.
This song is like a doorway to the land of psychedelia, tis a dark place if ye dare to step into it. Hard to step out of it.
@Josh Feierman lmao. in comparison, this is complete bullshit next to Floyd. Sorry to burst your bubble, dude.

This is the most beautiful song ever made
This is just epically beautiful. I can't get enough.
I wish they would redo it with better production like it deserves.
I want this song at my funeral
song of the year
Agreed. I can't even begin to comprehend how anything can top this.
Erik H It's so great..I've been getting into these guys and Pallbearer recently
so true. when it ends, there's really nothing alse to listen to.
No words can describe this song. Fucking beautiful.
this is so beautiful
Absolutely badass! What a gem this is!
These are really deep , powerful lyrics. Respect!
I want to die on the exact day I'll grow tired of this song. That day the world won't have anymore beauty to me.
we will never die then
1st listen to Yob and am liking what I hear, so atmospheric you can get lost in it
It's totally possible that I comprise 80% of the views on this youtube... can't.. stop.. listening..
Woot! Welcome back and thank you, one of my favorite bands of all time. Bought this the day it came out. What a great record. I am still delving into the depths of the other 3 but this song mesmerized me instantly. Such patience and control, unreal.
My favorite Doom Metal band!
One of my favourite songs. Can’t wait to see Yob live tomorrow
Gonna experience them on 31st october 2018 😀
They were totally mesmerising live! Enjoy! 🤘

@@soundsoundsowieso2403 you're in for a treat dude. They even gave us a rendition of this gorgeous song which I wasn't expecting. Honestly the best show I've ever attended, the sound and atmosphere was just incredible. Mike is a gent as well.
I want to sit on a mountain and stare over a forest into the sky while listening to this.....
An outrageously heart-wrenching, soul-crushing, invincibly hypnotic piece of Doom. Darkness is eternal.
This song is fucking perfect. I don't know if I have ever seen, heard or read something so perfect. It came out at a perfect time in my life and I am so grateful to you for writing it. I love this song and I love you guys
