I thought I would get tired of listening to the same riff over and over for 13 minutes. I guess not. Once you get locked into its groove, it's kind of hypnotizing, meditative, and relaxing.
Except it does change a little it to keep it fresh. Genius in nuance!

This song has what a lot of modern rock is lacking... is human 'error'. I should clarify, this is definitely not quantized. It feels more natural and organic. Today's recording practices often include mapping each track to a constant tempo, perfectly. Making it a bit more sanitized and processed.

+theherbpuffer Fair enough. Male-fronted Doom bands are just a dime a dozen, I guess. Monolord are good and all, but nothing that stands out, for me Dorthia's vocals not only help Windhand stand out from the crowd but her songwriting chops are well above average. Each to their own, though.

My Texas band opened up for these guys in San Antonio in fall of 2016 and they changed everything for me. They sound as loud and heavy Live as the album and deliver on every level. Great bunch of dudes with an incredible sound! Can't wait to see what's next.

SL follows a tried and true formula I've seen all too often! BTW I've actually seen Kyuss live so I know the genuine article! I never said Kyuss were stoner rock even though they don't like the desert rock moniker either! I was using a generic point of reference. If you like SL fine but if I don't like them does that make me wrong? Peace bruh...
@Ruptured Heart Theory Not at all. Actually RHT is my favorite song from them! And in all honesty I prefer the Louisana Heavy Boogie to Kyuss and the like. Suplecs is an awesome NOLA band, if you haven't heard them checkout their 1st two albums.
their performance in the Valley of Freaks 2019 is simply killer!! how much raw energy and somber atmosphere in a performance the people who were watching were completely brainwashing! that afternoon turned into an unholy aura

I agree. I thought Electric Wizard was the heaviest band ever until I heard these guys. Musically weird, production is just fantastic, and overall loud.

the drummer is tight; on timing, rhythm, misdirection, and drums
an easy thoughtful drum line but played with such a dark feeling so heavy it drives the music along with the guitar in such a swampy way so sticky that's what makes doom metal so mesmerizing

Recently Saw Monolord at the Grog shop with Frayle and Firebreather, Absolutely blown away!

just amazing,i've been listenng since the first album came out,their sound is just amazing & the fact they record mix & master it themselves is even more impressive,one of the best guitar tones i've heard in a long time,what is it with these swedish bands,there must be something in the water,they're always coming up with something that makes you think,how the hell did they do it ? just brilliant.
Back for another listen.....getting me inspired to write and record some more doom metal fuzz riffs.........
