You greatly failed to mention the true reason of Figo exit for Real. Figo was the best player in the world at that time and Perez made a proposition that he would TRIPLE his salary if he was elected and Figo accepted to sign for them. Figo WENT TO THE BARÇA BOARD and told them what was going on. Barcelona board thought this was a play from Figo's cam to get him a bigger contract as it was known that Figo was VERY underpaid. Furthermore, Barça didn't believe for a second that Perez would win much less that they would break transfer fee records and go to new salary heights for Figo. They just didn't believe that Perez was about to start the never ending inflation in football with Luis Figo transfer. And should he do so while being underpaid and for a board that didn't want him to get his money not believed his words? Sorry but no. This wasn't a betrayal. Figo also had two features that distinguish him from many other great players: 1) He never underperformed in a game. It's remarkable how compared with other players in his time who always have to sit a couple of games out or even almost entire seasons (like Owen or Ronaldo R9) he never got an injury, not even for a couple of games which is normal if you think about most players careers.
Thats was more because while Figo's best role was as RW he was decent at any role in the midfield and Beckham was the new ticket seller and only perform good at RW, and Luxemburgo didnt really knew how to coach that team, he did had some injuries at least a time that a guy broke his nose at a champion league game if I recall right and some sort of problem with one of his legs during the 2002 world cup that he still managed to play but not a 100% He started the Galaticos and with 2nd year zidane they didnt really need more offensive galaticos, R9 was cool but was the beggining of the end of the Galaticos, and not because of the 1st ones but last ones, dont fix what aint broken kind of scenerio, should just have streghten the defense, and or a pure world class LW to not overload RC and it would be perfect, but no another less good rw (beckham) was better cuz it will sell many merchandise, and more strikers (owen) cuz r9 and raul are not capable :D bu well thats just my opnion

Luis Figo. In my opinion is the best RM of last 40 years. A very strong, genius and technical midfield ho was writeing with the other galacticos a unique history in european football.
It will not be mentioned in the 10 best of all time. But for me he is maybe the best winger of all time. His dribbling style was really unique, he could change direction very quickly and he was very beautiful to watch play. The moves were always perfectly executed and even if he wasn't the fastest, it was impossible to take the ball from him without fouling. He is a player that I come to see regularly on video because there are no two like him in the way he dribbles. He was also very intelligent in his passing. People may not realize it, but in the history of the Spanish championship, it is one of the greatest legends of all time. There is the fact that he wore the jersey of Barca and Real, but also because his level was always excellent, he rarely missed a match. Pure class player 🌟
For more than 20 years Figo was considered to be impossible to defend and he was an assist machine for club and country. I feel like he definitely deserves more credit than most people give him.
A player like that, if he performed in our time, would have a crazy recognition. In the 90's there was not yet internet and youtube. Zidane is more known and recognized because he won the world cup, but many players of that time were really excellent (the golden age of soccer for me) and yet don't have the recognition he deserves. Figo is recognized by his football mates as a legend, an outstanding player. Just see how R9, Guardiola, Roberto Carlos and Zidane talk about him. Figo has also won the golden ball and the fifa award, which gives him a lot of recognition.

Real Madrid never played with wingers in their Galactico Era... they played 4-4-2 where Raul & Ronaldo stayed upfront and the likes of Zidane Beckham Figo & Guti were told to run the midfield and during that time any player from that 4 used to go out to play either as a No.10 or play wide as a RW or LF and that was the only reason why Madrid’s Galactico era failed because it had no balance... All of them were told to create chances and that’s why the likes of Figo or Zidane didn’t scored so many goals but assisted like hell and Ronaldo-Raul in 4/5 season scored more than 200 goals individually
Footballers need to make they're money, its their choice if they wanna transfer despite being rivals. What would you do if you got offered 62 mil for another of the one of the best clubs in the world. Figo always has a special place in my heart, hes the GOAT.
Figo the best technical player for Portugal. Also an excellent dead ball specialist. Also Beckham was a very good player too and his private life overshadowed him but still a good player and England would not have made the 2002 World Cup without him.
Good video although Makelele being ignored seems dirty, he practically shielded the midfield so Figo and Zidane could attack more freely and backtrack little. Once Beckham came in and Makelele went to Chelsea the team started to struggle and no manager could fit hard-working but unmarketed talents like Cambiasso or Gravesen, who often got subbed to give more time to the stars like Beckham and McManaman being infamously used as defensive midfielders. And Figo could dribble at walking speed as he did in Italy, Messi cannot. A very rough assessment for someone who often fought (and won) against Zidane and Ronaldo Nazario for glory.
I remember wearing his real Madrid jersey in Italy recently moving from Morocco and Figo in Italy means good looking guy. I can tell the girls were impressed!
Good video, but maybe a bit harsh. Figo is well remembered for his dribbling abilities and is regularly cited as one of the greatest wingers of all time. Icon factor: at least a 7. I feel he should approach an 80 score overall. Some player suggestions: Laudrup, Rui Costa, Garrincha, Zidane, Rivaldo, Eusébio. They all relate to Figo one way or another in my mind and I'm curious to see how you compared them. Vota Chega!
Totally agree that he deserves higher (I'm portuguese too BTW) I am thinking about making a video with adjustments to the ratings (Ronaldinho deserves higher too) exactly I think he should be 80 and Ronaldinho a bit higher than 80
idk man his icon factor is 10/10 for me bro his transfer scandal was the first and biggest of its kind and noones can forget, he was the first player to cross 50 + mill barrier transfer fee, i think you are a biased barca fan who seems upset, his dribbling was always on point, he fuckin glided past defenders dude, idk what football you watched man, some sad ratings, even for thierry henry sad ratings man
I'm a Chelsea fan ans I remember the early days of Real Madrid. I remember the 0-0 draw were the pig heads was on the feild. I also remember him hitting the bar from a corner that match. I was a young boy, but I use to watch Real Madrid alot back then in the early 00s. Great to be in those ps2 days on pes.
The betrayal is from the fans not being in debt towards a player that was there for years. The hatred against another team is just not something anyone should bow for. Politics and sport need to be seperated. Barcelona fans betrayed a player not vice versa.

Always was a huge fan of Figo. Going to Real was his choice which is fine but I always thought Real was a circus at the time. At Barcelona he was a TOP TOP player and that side gave him more freedom. If he stayed at Barca, I honestly think his legacy would have been even higher. Still 1 of my favorite players.
When you Said at 7:20 “that might be the biggest upset in european football”. I disagree, now keep in mind in ‘84 and ‘86 denmark had a deadly and one of the strongest teams, with some of my favourite players ever. In ‘92 we didn’t really have a great team, dont get me wrong it was strong, but it didn’t Seem like much. But we beat a french team that had names like Jean-Pierre Papin, Eric Cantona, Didier Deschamps and Manuel Amoros, a dutch team with Hans Van Breukelen, Marco Van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank De Boer, Ronald Koeman, Ruud gullit, Frank rijkaard, and a German team with Jürgen Klinsmann, Jürgen Kohler, Mathias Sammer, Lothar Matthäus, Stefan Reuter and Berti vogts as their manager. If those three aren’t the biggest upsets i dont know what is.

I'm 45 and Figo has been the best winger I've ever seen in my life.
In that generation my favorite player was Zidane and after Zidane it was Figo. Even in this generation I only see Ronaldo and Messi above him.
5 for finishing? Never scored more than 14 goals a season. Hes a winger and thats a very good amount of goals for a winger.
@XDNOPES YT it is. For a winger 14 goals a season is really good and then add assists. 5 for finishing isn't right
@XDNOPES YT it is, because he is a playmaker winger
@xdnopesyt2213those days it was notable.
Great analysis. Consider doing a video review for Nedved, Ian Wright, Alvaro Recoba and Zamorano.
As a Greek damn I remember every minute of that euros final...hellas ole ole
He and Robinho I admired. I am a fan of wingers that bamboozled defenders.
He was injured in 01/02 and that was the only season i saw him go "missing" nearly in a few big games. His worst season.
Man legend.when I was teenager I was in love with him
Figo and Rivaldo are 2 of the most underrated greats to play the game imo.
Yes. Both were every inch as good as Zidane or Ronaldinho.
Great contents...subbed.
Já percebi que és português mas tens um excelente vocabulário em inglês. Parabéns.
Obrigado, eu tento o meu melhor
O sotaque e pronunciares bem os nomes portugueses denunciaram-te🤣
I think "icon status" biases the final score towards larger football nations
Legend Figo
It was a very good video, but lost interest when you started rating the player. Facts made the video good.
He deserves a much higher score!
Vota Chega!
Totally agree that he deserves higher (I'm portuguese too BTW) I am thinking about making a video with adjustments to the ratings (Ronaldinho deserves higher too) exactly I think he should be 80 and Ronaldinho a bit higher than 80
Owh also, I'll take into consideration those suggestions, I've already planed to make Eusébio and Zidane so those should be coming sooner
Would rather watch Figo than Neymar tbh
80 LOL. Figo for me was better than Cristus Penaldos
@@marjansarec2337 how many times did Ronaldo knock your team out of qualifiers for tournaments? Lol
No bro Figo will always be remembered as a GREAT even amongst the new generation.
Start of something greattt
Can you do Alan Shearer next? I think his career is quite a curious case.
Luis Figo ❤️
idk man his icon factor is 10/10 for me bro his transfer scandal was the first and biggest of its kind and noones can forget, he was the first player to cross 50 + mill barrier transfer fee, i think you are a biased barca fan who seems upset, his dribbling was always on point, he fuckin glided past defenders dude, idk what football you watched man, some sad ratings, even for thierry henry sad ratings man
i watch figo early 2000 hes good playmaker
I'm a Chelsea fan ans I remember the early days of Real Madrid. I remember the 0-0 draw were the pig heads was on the feild. I also remember him hitting the bar from a corner that match. I was a young boy, but I use to watch Real Madrid alot back then in the early 00s. Great to be in those ps2 days on pes.
Otherwise great, but leave the last part out where you give those points.
Heavily underrated...💔
Legend was born
birth of a legend
What does someone need to get a 10/10 on longevity? also icon rating was harsh
the real legend
My stand out memory of him (as a United fan) was how many stepovers he did. Used to really annoy me.
Great channel! Keep it up
Great videos ..not sure on ur ratings .but great watch
The betrayal is from the fans not being in debt towards a player that was there for years. The hatred against another team is just not something anyone should bow for. Politics and sport need to be seperated. Barcelona fans betrayed a player not vice versa.
Should be 76 with 6 points for icon factor, 4 is too harsh

I challenge you to make a video about yourself, where you were born, when did you start playing football, all the clubs you played for even if it wasn't pro and everything until you got to the age where you felt like you don't wanna play the sport anymore... You can even post your pictures if it's fine... Actually the same way you do with all those stars I guess everyone wanna know how someone who's in Portugal couldn't reach pro.
great video!
Thanks, there's one more coming tomorrow, it's about Ibrahimovic
i cried when he moved to Real Madrid T_T
Ik a better club
@@kyrlosemad8617 Barca >>>>> Real Madrid

A mercenary, realy, mate!!!!!!!!!
As far as i know, its called, being a professinal football player.
Like in any other profession, you chose, whos give the better conditions, including money.
Get a grip, mate.
You don't betray barca and expect barca fans to respect you
One of my nik names 👏👏
Paulo Sousa, Rui Costa, J. V. Pinto e Luis Figo... smart career moves aside for me that's the natural order of talent, class and football IQ of our GOLDEN generation X . ;-)
You're trying too hard to look like the smartest guy in the room.
@@F28aj why there's always haters?! Wouldn't be easier just to say I agree or i don't agree?!... If you don't like my opinions do not read them...that easy!

Lovely video from a portuguese speaker, if I can catch your accent correctly, am I right?
I feel for Barca fans, but as a Chelsea and Milan fan, Courtois's move to Real and Hakan's to Inter will forever be the saltiest betrayals for me.
Unfair as usual
4 on a icon factor??? Ur crazy... Never really saw Him playing have u? Ballon d'or should suffice. 4? Crazy?
yeah he nerferd him a lot with those stats
My childhood hero
Please do a video on Raul Gonzalez
What happen to the word ' professional' in the word ' professional footballer' ? If Barcelona so loyal to their fans , why are the fans paying expensive tickets to watch those matches ? It should be free isn't it ?
Can you please do one on Di Stéfano
one day, ill keep him in mind
Greatest Real Madrid player ever
great!

Throwing a pig's head was savage though 😂😂😂
Watching him was clearly different.
Leaving barca was a good choice imo.
Barca didn't put in enough effort to keep him
I still think he was better than Zidane. But he was a bit unfortunate in that he fell short internationally (played for Portugal not France) and his worst form as player 01/02-03 - was Zidanes best years at Real. So there was a stark contrast.

Plzzzzzzzzz🙏🙏🙏
Yea that’s true real was struggling and Perez wanted to make him and love him had a conscience as he found it hard to leave when I first saw him I thaught who is this he looks like John travolta and the kits suited him when he had rivaldo the two colours as I didn’t receive Spanish football my mate did the point he wanted to be valued which I get like in all walks off life the Netflix documentary about him really gave him a chance to say his side
Sérgio Conceição, Paulo Futre, Fernando Chalana, Simão Sabrosa. João vieira Pinto, Rui Costa e Paulo Sousa!!!
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 Fogo
Daily dose of football how did luis figo learn English even though he never played in England
I disagree with the Icon Status rating I would give a minimum of 6 but I think he is a 7
Figo betrayed Barca, Of course Madrid can offer him more money bc he doesn’t have dignity! Current Barca players like Messi, Iniesta, Puyol, Pedri, & Xavi won’t even join Madrid bc they have dignity and have more love & respect for Barcelona! Figo doesn’t that’s the difference
Pls do sadio mane 🥺😢🙏🏾🙏🏾 and your old song pls
