I don't think a guy famous for playing his best matches in the most important matches should have a 6 in mentality. Also, he kept playing very well despite some very bad teams that Boca had from 2009 onwards
Again, I would completely dump the Icon status and trophy cabinet categories, because that's completely irrelevant to the real quality of the player and it keeps proving again and again that it can render even the best players as not as good as they really were. Besides, you gave Riquelme Icon factor 9/10 based on how he's viewed in his homeland and completely disregard how he's viewed in Europe but did the exact opposite with Nedved and some other players. The same with trophy cabinet. Nedved has silver and bronze from Euro, many Serie A titles, many international individual trophies and Ballon D'or and his trophy cabinet is objectively bigger and still he got lower score.

@@andreomorais2615 then you have to factor that Czechs and also many Italians worship Nedved even more. He's Czech and Juventus legend. It's irrelevant argument.
He lived in the shadow of Maradona as a lot of Argentinian players of that generation. Everyone still considers players like Riquelme, Aimar, Saviola etc as failures as they failed to live to the expectations but the expectation was Maradona himself. Only Messi managed to dethrone Maradona.
It's a shame he did not continue at Villareal. I remember the Villareal of the mid 2000s was such a dark horse in European football, you could tell it's one of those last major teams where the players play because they love the game.
Remember when Riquelme and Diego Forlan played for Villareal? If memory serves me correctly, Forlan became the top scorer in La Liga that season and simply credited it to Riquelme's genius. I think they crashed out the UEFA Champion's League in the semi-finals that year. He was such a joy to watch. Easily in the top 10 best footballers of all time alongside Del Piero & Rui Costa
I hate it when people compare players on individual level and then bring up team achievements. I always bring up Riquelme when people do that, the fact that he chose to play for a second rate team doesn't take anything away from his quality.
Ozil is the last No. 10 in my opinion. The modern football that convert no.10 to no.6 and no.8 which can run around place for 90 mins and can make a place like no.10 (ex. Kdb and bruno Fernandez) effect him a lot. There is few place for him now.

But you have to factor in that argentinians worship Riquelme as if he was a god and trophy cabinet really gives players an equal ranking
This should be argued about Cristiano being a Top 5 player of all time, accolades and trophies don't make you one of the best ever, but in reality... He's not Individually close to other greats and is just a Goalscorer.
Facts man. If trophies were so important then maxwell would be one ofthe greatest ever lmao. Obviously not the case
@@andreomorais2615 then you have to factor that Czechs and also many Italians worship Nedved even more. He's Czech and Juventus legend. It's irrelevant argument.
Great videos. Continue to feature legends please. Respect, California. 🙏🏽
Riquelme and Valderama beautiful players
Valderama!👍👍👍
You do a great job with these videos. Thank u!!
was such an elegant player.
Can you do Michael Essien?
Are you talking about Mourinho's son ?????????
Yes, Juan Roman was an unsung midfield genius
One of the best midfielders my eyes have ever seen
THERE WE GO!!!!!! JUAN ROMAN RIQUELME no question the best Boca Juniors player ever
Special talent and great to watch live.
The last classic no.10 true legend
I think the last classic no 10 was ozil, no he's finished too😟😟

Please can you do how good was Hugo Sanchez
He lived in the shadow of Maradona as a lot of Argentinian players of that generation. Everyone still considers players like Riquelme, Aimar, Saviola etc as failures as they failed to live to the expectations but the expectation was Maradona himself. Only Messi managed to dethrone Maradona.
Could you make a how good was Miroslav Klose actually please?
Back in the days my best friend and me pretented to be Raul and Riquelme while playing in the yards. Good times.
It's a shame he did not continue at Villareal. I remember the Villareal of the mid 2000s was such a dark horse in European football, you could tell it's one of those last major teams where the players play because they love the game.
I loved him I would always buy him in pes football
watched Juan Roman Riquelme once and customised all my shirts with his name at the back afterwards! he was magical!
Easily in the top 10 best footballers of all time alongside Del Piero & Rui Costa
he is underrated af
Nice doc man
I could watch him all day
My favorite player. I'm 35, grew up watching him. Riquelme 10.
Can you do how good was Rui Costa 🇵🇹
@dailydoseoffootball you are truly an amazing narrator. Keep up the good work
So many underrated players in history so many
Can you make the first every how good was Hugo Sanchez 🇲🇽 🙏🏽
Just Watch the Riquelme vs Real Madrid video! He owned them
He is a legend. Sadly we didn't have it more in Argentina national team.
I hate it when people compare players on individual level and then bring up team achievements. I always bring up Riquelme when people do that, the fact that he chose to play for a second rate team doesn't take anything away from his quality.
I dream of having a playmaking talent like JR Riquelme, my favorite #10
My favourite 10 ever .
I miss him every f....sunday .
Art , no sport .....pure Art
Ozil is the last No. 10 in my opinion. The modern football that convert no.10 to no.6 and no.8 which can run around place for 90 mins and can make a place like no.10 (ex. Kdb and bruno Fernandez) effect him a lot. There is few place for him now.
RIQUELME WAS A COMPLETE , PHENOMENAL PLAYER ❤❤❤
