      Its his speed. No point for strikers to have great airgame or wtv if the defender gets there first. CB should be one big dude and one small dude. During attack the bigger dude should stay behind as the last man but and the smaller cb should roam further up.
      Smaller body also means lesser energy burnt. Messi, Park Ji Sung, Ashley Cole, Evra every super athletic players tend to be smaller in stature. I'd like to see Haaland scoring against faster defender, all CB are slow and stocky nowadays but tthe strikers are supee fast.

    Maldini is probably the best ever, Beckenbauer and Baresi are in contention as well (even tho, personally, i wouldn't say Beckenbauer was just a defender, he had a lot of other qualities and he played in a very different way from most defenders) but 2006 WC Cannavaro was the best defender of all time (just in that tournament) and it is not even close...people really need to go back and be reminded of that performance, it was almost a supernatural performance, surreal, if you are young, you probably never experienced seeing something like that from a defender, but you probably did when watching CR7 and Messi playing.

    Just a reminder: in the 2005/06 season, on the field, Juventus won the Serie A title with three points higher than AC Milan (91 against 88). Then, after the Calciopoli Scandal, the 2005/06 title was delivered to Inter Milan: if I'm not mistaken, they had only clinched the third place

    Cannavaro has been a great defender and player. Having said that, i am a Juventus fan, so I know him well.
    And i can tell you his team mate next to him was actually better.
    I am talking about Thuram.
    They were both almost equal but i give a little edge to Thuram and together they were just perfect. They were the 2 best central defenders in the world and if to that you add Buffon and even Zambrotta... Well that juve team was spectacular!!

    I really love these vids but my biggest gripe with the channel is not saying the stats. He could’ve showed his tackles,interceptions,tackles per game, clean sheets, 1on1s, times dribbled pass etc. he could even compare it with other great defenders to make it more significant.

    I agree that Cannavaro was one of the best defenders off all time, but I don't think Nesta was less. Italy ever had amazing defenders and goalkeepers, it's very hard compare them. It's the same with Buffon, because Peruzzi, Pagliuca or Zenga weren't inferior. But great video, keep going with other legends.

  • @EVOZORE
    @EVOZORE 5 месяцев назад

    as Brazil has always had outstanding offensive players Italy has always had outstanding defensive players. Certainly Cannavaro has been one of the best but before him there have been Collovati, Gentile, Ferri, Bergomi, Costacurta, Vierchowod, Morini, Cuccureddu, Rosato, Burgnich, Guarneri, Cera, Salvadore, Picchi and the most elegant and technical Gaetano Scirea.
