@@CounselorSue Ohhh, hilarious error in perception on my part! Ok now I got it, wasn't sure what exactly you referred to initially. My reply I thought was a good cover! Lol! 🤣 DewDropN = a personal reference to the overnight dew drops that fall heavily in my TN mountain Hollow. I threw in the "N" for fun, as when spoken sounds like "drop in" to visit, but with dew preceding DropN. Just a play on words mixed with a personal (botanical/temperate?) reference. I've used this for yrs with many entertaining replies. Not until last year a man from Canada commented about a cartoon establishment called the "Dew Drop Inn" viewed in Canada during his earlier years. I had not heard of, (in the U.S.) or ever viewed that cartoon, that I ever recall. Not to say it wasn't aired here...I personally didn't know of it. It's hard for me to drive in that kind of rain. I'm glad it wasn't night or I wouldn't be able to see at all. It was so nice to see you camping together and really liking it. It gives us a peace we didn't have when we were younger. My best friend for most of my life is 4 years older than me. I'm 77, and she's 81, It's so hard seeing her decline with age. She has trouble walking and has stumbled and fallen several times. She's got a cane, but it's easier to hold my arm until she gets a shopping cart to wheel around. I always scout out places for her to sit and rest a few, just like I used to do for Momma. She tells the same stories a thousand times, and I cringe through it. I'm sure there are many ways I probably irritate her. While I am finally retired (75), she is still being commandeered to babysit her 4 and 8 year old great-grandchildren 5 to 7 days a week. I'm afraid that all the plans we had to travel around, will go with the wind just as her declining health and mental state are. My health is also declining. There's more and more doctor visits piling up. I'm still hoping before it all goes away, we'll be able to have some of the good times we've talked about. The little 4 year old should be school soon, and barring any freak accidents, we should be able to spend more time together. We worked together. That's how we met. We raised our kids together. We grew old together. We've encouraged and supported each other through bad to worse marriages and divorces. We've been more like sister's than friends. I appreciate and tell her every day how much I care about her friendship. I can tell you also love and appreciate each other.

Thank you for sharing your heart-felt note. I’m glad you have such a great friendship and that you can share so many things together, including camping. My best friend just moved nearer, 20 min away. She says she’s done all the camping she wants to do, while raising her kids. She has a lovely home in the country that I like to visit. Her home is her retreat. As an active senior she still hikes and rides a bike going on long trail rides with her hubby. It’s great to have special people in your life. You’re so right about the “peace” part, where we can hopefully enjoy things without too many responsibilities or encumbrances. I hear you on the changing health… things come up, but I’m still determined to keep moving and enjoy life. It’s a choice but sometimes there is a determination and grit that leads us to battle the elements (nature and health) and continue moving toward more joy. Cheers, thanks again for sharing. I love reading people’s stories.

People would ask him, “Do you like Disney,” and he’d say, “I enjoy seeing Suzie like it.” Or, “Suzie likes it so I go with her.” Now, he likes Disney. I reminded him of these comments and said, “Eventually you’re going to say, I like camping.” I’m grateful that he comes along with me. I try to make it fun for him and try to do most the work myself, but… he is gradually gaining his own routine. It can be fun watching a partner gradually change. So, off to camping we go. I did solo camping the summer before I had my double hip replacement and it was a pretty painful ordeal because the hips were shot, but I refused to let the pain stop me. I'm totally pain free now, one year post surgery. What a blessing.
I like your idea of putting the tent gear in the plastic bin, and also your cloth window covers. Pretty nifty. I bet your daughter was really surprised to see you and Stanley. That was a nice surprise. She is absolutely beautiful.
Your Napier tent is very efficient. I like the way it attaches to the car. I have a dome tent which also has the criss-cross poles and the pins that go into the pole ends. Hi. Love your set up.
One tip, put a rug outside where Stanley stepped out of tent, and a higher chair, for him, and a put a mat on bin for his shoes. Then in morning, he steps out onto rug, sits comfortably, puts on shoes that are clean and ready at a comfortable reaching height. He is hard of hearing now, so a cheap hearing aid is needed. Your patience is admirable.

@@tonimarianiauthor817 Thank you for your kind comments and suggestions. I used to have a yoga mat for outside and in, which were easy to pick up and shake off. However, we got rained on and the mats didn’t fare well with mud and water so I threw them out. I haven’t replaced the mat yet, but will look for something that is easy to clean, shake out, dry… etc. Also, both Stan and I have hearing aids, not cheap…lol… one hear aid is $2,500 Canadian dollars. Our government pays the first $500, and we pay the rest… I like the idea of mat on bin for shoes. That will keep them off the ground at night away from dew. Thanks again for your suggestions. I like them. Cheers!

Thanks for your comment. I have looked at “instant” tents and may get one to try it out, but… for now, I do like sleeping in the back of the Honda. It’s off the ground and sleeping on the ground, even on a cot (a little off the ground) is one part of camping I never liked as a kid. However, I’m curious to try out different kinds of tents one day. The appeal of the Napier tent was that it attaches to the Honda. When we first got our Honda I heard about the tents and during Covid said to Stan, “What if we go camping.” Oddly enough, he jumped at the idea right away. So glad he did. Cheers!

We have a Napier tent. You can order them on Amazon. Napier is a Canadian company based in St. Catherines Ontario. The tent is reasonable in price and definitely practical. It’s an 10X10 and about 8 ft high. I’ve been looking at the pop up tents like Coleman’s but haven’t bought yet. I think they would be fun to try. What I like about the Napier is that I can sleep off the ground and the tent is big enough to set up a kitchen, and house two lawn chairs if it’s raining.

@@esousa486 Welcome to our channel. We’re so glad you’re here. Yes, I do love my Napier tent and I’m really impressed with the company. I’ve had my tent since 2021. I had no issues with it but this year with a lot of rain we did experience small leak in around the edges. I talked to Napier about this and they are sending me a larger rain cover, one of their newer ones. Our tent is not under warranty but they said, since this is a new issue, they are sending the rain cover. The tent comes with one, as you can see in the video but it doesn’t cover 100%. When I get the new cover I will be doing a video of that. It’s great to be able to recommend a product especially when you know the company is very reliable. So, not only am I impressed with our tent, but with the company as well. I’m not sure how many camping trips we’ve taken. We have used it a lot, especially this Summer. If you purchase one you’ll have to let me know. I recommend it simply as a satisfied customer/user (no affiliation at all). Cheers!

@@marykelley5182 urgency, yes… We are seniors. When we have to go, we have to go. One of our stays, our host had an RV and I decided to sleep in the Honda. The RV was small and I just wanted to sleep in the vehicle. During the night I had to go. I could have got up and went into the RV, instead I grabbed a doggie pee pad, positioned it around my body (between legs) and peed. So that meant getting up on my knees, positioning the doggie pee pad, and peeing that way. Then I put the pee pad into a plastic bag I had near by. I’m going to experiment with this idea a little more. I figured if dogs can pee on these pads then they were designed to hold liquid without mess. Let me know if you try this or create some variation of it. Cheers!
