Realistic details on 3D lures - Blender Sculpting

    I finally learned Blender and made my first fishing lure using it. The main reason for switching to Blender was the ability to sculpt realistic details like the gills, mouth, and fins.
    At first I was not getting good results and the carvings I made were not deep enough to show up on an FDM 3D print, so I practiced a bit before attempting to make a fishing lure and it turned out great.
    I still need a bit more practice to be able to produce lures that print better on a 0.4mm nozzle for faster and more convenient printing.

    I've used Fusion to design a few lures and have Blender installed on my computer but haven't tried it yet. It is a little intimidating. Thanks for the video!

      It is very intimidating at the beginning, the more you use it and google stuff, the more you will get comfortable with it.

      Thank you for the feedback, it was not meant to be a tutorial, maybe the title was a bit misleading but I just wanted to share my experience and thoughts about this software and what I made with it.
      If enough people are interested in tutorials I might consider making them. I’m also looking into the possibility of livestreaming.

      Hi, I would really like you to do a more detailed version explaining each step.
      What you created here is fabulous and just the kind of 3d modelling I really want to do.
      Apology for my harsh original comment, no excuse but I was amazed and equally frustrated because I'm so slow and stupid.
      I hope you are able to do a more informative video, I'm certain it would be very popular and greatly appreciated by beginners like myself
      👍👍👍

      @@BobBobbler-o1y Sorry for late reply, but I'm not finding any extra time lately to make videos, will figure out a way to empty my schedule soon, but for now I'm doing weekly live streams about lure making in Blender, you can check it in my channel under the live section. I go more into details there.

    Looking good! I also use blender to make lures. It was fun to see that our process is almost identical, because there is not many tutorials with this specific subject.

    Hi, How did you make it so the scales did not pile up on top of each other and distort? I've tried following your video but every time I use the brush, the scales just overlap when I do multiple passes for covering my bait.
    Thanks!

    • @LureLogicOfficial
      @LureLogicOfficial  5 месяцев назад

      In the brush settings, under advanced, there’s a setting called “Front Faces Only”.
      Sorry for the lack of explanation in this video, it was not meant to be a tutorial, but I’m planning on live streaming soon and will try to explain more.

      @@LureLogicOfficial Hi, thanks for the quick reply (and the video). Sorry, that didnt do the trick. What I mean is, that in the video when you brush on your scales, you do multiple passes on the same side (and over already applied scales). When you do this, your scales stay true from the first stroke, so the multiple passes over the same areas doesn't make the scales pile on top of each other, it just fills in the gaps. When I do this, my scales pile on top of eachother, so by going back and forth, I suddenly have double the amount of scales, smushed together so you can't even see that its supposed to be scales.
      Thanks!

      @@bobgelfin1266 Sorry for the late reply, are you using the layer brush like I am doing? Or a different brush? Also, you must not let go of the mouse until your done, the moment you release your finger, the layer is done and if you click again, you're adding another layer on top of it.

      Unfortunately I have a tiny apartment with no bathtub and no room for a fish tank. The weather is getting better though so might test multiple lures soon.

    That’s nice work I do the same problem you ll meet is the high polygon you got permit you only work stl obj for 3d printer . To test it one time to open a mold your high poly will demande you a complete retopology from this point I préfère re work a new bait . Good video

    • @LureLogicOfficial
      @LureLogicOfficial  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the comment, yes the high poly count can be a problem, my slicer is handling around a million faces just fine (I have a good computer) but it does take more time to process it compared to lower poly models.

      @@LureLogicOfficial thanks you ! Another point you ll notice is the nurb technology of blender don’t permit same higih visibility of geometric shape from CAd a vertex software will never fight this impression you got of « too soft edge » I practice 9 years blender for modeling fishing lure now work various software
