Now, if you don't see the option "boot from usb", either try another USB port on the computer and/or another physical USB drive, it is even better if it is another brand than the one that is not working.
The other option could that USB boot legacy is not enabled in the Bios, try looking for something like that and enable it.

      hello there,
      1) Always aim to install the latest Bios version for your system. I googled your model and this is the link for the Dell website, (re-verify that it's the model you have), scroll down and check for "Bios", that's should be the most recent version: www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/inspiron-15-intel-n5050/drivers
I have a video on how to do it from DOS: ruclips.net/video/21vsSne-NtQ/видео.html
      2) Bios downgrade, like i mention in the video, it's only advisable if your system is having problems after the upgrade. Bios upgrades provides enhanced features and security updates.
      3) I think the reason for the error is because your are trying to install a version of Windows 7 that is not compatible with your system. Try updating the Bios and try again.
      Hope it helps

    Hi My IT Workshop,
So lately, I just upgraded my BIOS of Dell Vostro 5568 to the latest version. But it turns out not very well. Before I upgraded to the new BIOS, my fingerprint scan device was working normally, nothing is wrong with them. But after I updated the new BIOS (ver 1.12.0 of 23 Jan 2020) the fingerprint scan device stopped working afterwards. Showing me the message when I checked on the user settings, saying that: "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint". Now just a quick head up, I tried to fix the issue but there is no problem with it, the driver is working fine, I enabled the user policies and what's not and nothing work. So that leads up to my theory of the BIOS might be the one who caused it.
Also, I know the method of downgrade the BIOS via the USB BOOT is a risky move since I did research that a lot of computers/laptops blocked bios downgrade even though I did enable the downgrade in BIOS setting, plus I fear that I might end up bricking BIOS, so I'm here to ask you is it really safe to do it if I do everything correctly like in the video and should I really do it or wait for the next BIOS update?
I'm looking forward to hearing your replies, my best regard.

    • @MyITWorkshop
      @MyITWorkshop  4 года назад +1

      Hello Rennzu,
If it is really affecting the functionality of the computer and you're sure the issue is due to the new Bios upgrade you installed some days ago. I'd would say you have 2 options; if this is a known issue, then the manufacturer will release an update........eventually. The other option is to downgrade the Bios to a previous, working, stable version or the one you had before. The 2nd option, as i mentioned in the video, can render your computer unusable, (depending on the model it might be possible to fix if that happened).
What I did with a computer on which the Bios upgrade failed, was to check the manufacturer's website looking for a way to recover the Bios on the motherboard. This was a 2012 HP laptop and there was no way to fix because it was too old. The solution for me was to buy a new motherboard, same model and replace it, that worked. In my case the hard drive, ram, cpu were working with no problems, so i did not lose my docs/videos/pictures.
If you decide to downgrade the Bios, make a copy/clone your hard drive first just in case.
      Hope it helps!
      Thanks for the comment!

      Hello Dan,
I would depend on the update. Manufacturers release Bios update to make the motherboard compatible with new hardware, security updates, stability, etc. Now, there are cases when a new update is release to patch a vulnerability and after the upgrade is installed it CAN'T be downgraded. When you try it may show a message like "Bios blocked due to unsupported downgrade". Dell/HP/Lenovo and the rest do this to prevent users go back to a vulnerable version that can be exploited.

On many models there is log in the Bios itself, maybe there it gives you more info about it.
As far as i know there is no way to see what was the previos version of your bios.
Another tip comes to mind if this is A dell/hp/lenovo etc, when you look for it in the manufacturers website using the serial number or tag number, you can see the date when the warranty started. With that date in that same page you can look for what Bios version was released around that time.

      Hello Tanishq,
I saw that happening on other laptops models as well, Dell Inspiron 15 3521. The way I found to go around it is to create WinPE bootable usb, I describe how to do it in this video, the only "caveat" would be that your battery needs to be working, at least on the models I've tried this on:

      @@tanishqmatharu5105 Hello,
When that happens means the manufacturer, Dell, has disabled backward downgrade. They do this if there was a vulnerability in the previous Bios version(s) and they fixed it with the latest update. Therefore, in order to prevent users/computers from getting exploited by the vulnerability they make sure that the latest version is UNdowngradable, (does that word exist?).
If you are having a problem caused by the new Bios version and can't go back to the previous, you have 2 options:
      1) Wait for Dell to release a new Bios version that fixes the current issues.
      2) I do not recommend this one much......Try even older Bios version and see if they work. However, Since they locked the system from doing that it might not work.......
      Hope it helps

      Hello Zineb,
Yes, like I mentioned in the video; downgrading is the last option, and yes, there is a chance it can go wrong.
I am glad that nothing happened to your computer.

The answer is: it depend how old your hardware is. If it is at least from 2010, you should not have any problems i stalling anything after the downgrade.

I updated my bios recently on my Dell g15 laptop and after that boot time has drastically increased...now it takes around 30.5 seconds from the earlier time of under 10 seconds...i have a strong feeling that it is happening due to the BIOS upgrade to version 1.4.3...when im trying to downgrade my bios to version 1.3.9 it shows that "you are not allowed to flash your bios to an older version" do you guys have any solution for this?
