    I do about a couple listings per month right now. Started my shop Sep 2021, and sitting at 199 sales so far with mostly 5 star reviews. My advice for new people starting out is to make sure you do a quality check of your products before you list them. If your shop starts getting bad reviews due to poor quality, this could spell the end before you even begin.

    First time I have seen your videos. Great information, thanks for the advice! I am a longtime (12 years) Etsy seller, with over 16K sales and over 1200 listings. I have at least 400 items that need photography and to be listed, but it takes time! Also have many new items I want to make to offer, but just can't keep up with orders, photograph the items, and then even make more items. I have so many materials - it is kind of an addiction and hoping I can find the time to create. But at least now I don't feel so bad for having so many listings.

    I can 100% confirm your advice is correct.
    I’ve been adding at least 1 new product a day since watching that on your TikTok. It has absolutely increased my sales. Previously I would mainly get sales over the weekend which was when I was doing bulk uploads, but now I upload at least once a day I receive orders any day of the week.
    I may also renew an item that has sold out, but will also upload a new item. I’m not sure how much longer I can continue this for as I’m running out of storage space so may need to make it every couple of days soon.
    Thank you for sharing relevant and honest content :)

      @@TypeNineStudioRUclips showed me this video from you when I was searching the topic 'etsy how often to list' and I'm so happy I found you! I sell all sorts of vintage items I source at yard sales, and when I have a good day of listing items I usually just olpost them all to "get them out there" so they can be seen and, hopefully, bought. I know there's a school of thought that's says to build a draft bank and just fire off a draft to active status every day and I've been breaking that rule just to get what I list up in my shop, however, now after hearing your video I am going to resist that temptation and just bank all my drafts once I've activated my one a day. I think it will be fun to see what difference in my sales that makes. Can't wait to listen to more of your vids. Thank you 🙂🌷

    By 'upgrade', I have good titles, tags (as best I can), photos and careful descriptions. My "competition' has a live model, makes a cheaper (looks and material) product. I have five star ratings, communication, shipping and glowing reviews since I started in 2013, but average a sale a month. Not worried over that star seller BS...until Etsy starts shoving them to the top of search, anyway. Yet, no one in my tiny niche has yet to get star seller, either.

    My concern is having so many materials, just waiting for a sale. The more listings I have, the more supplies I need to store indefinitely. I know this is part of doing business. It just makes me nervous, especially if I need the same supplies for multiple listings.

    • @TypeNineStudio
      @TypeNineStudio  2 года назад +2

      I understand that 100%, and still struggle with it tbh. Sometimes I have a particular material (like a certain color of fabric) that I use for multiple things, then panic if one sells and think what if I sell the others too and run out. It usually ends up with me over-buying materials 😂
      I try to prevent that now by having as much stuff ready-to-ship as possible, so I know for sure I can fill the order. But then if you do personalization it gets complicated.

    Does the description matter much for search purposes? I’m having a hard time getting views, but I thought I did a great job with SEO. I used all characters in titles, long tail keywords. Trying to understand where I can make better changes

    • @TypeNineStudio
      @TypeNineStudio  3 года назад +3

      Yes the description matters too - really just the first few sentences. Having the main long tail keywords repeated in title, tags, and description solidifies to the search that this is exactly what your item is. I put at least 1 or 2 of the long tail keywords naturally in the first sentence of the description. This also shows if your listing happens to come up on Google or the offsite ads, it's referred to as the "meta description".

      If you're asking about me personally, I pay for most of them. I've had maybe 10 or so people use my referral link, but the free listings from that also count towards sales and renewals, not just new listings. So they get used up pretty quick.

      @TypeNineStudio  Год назад

      Matching sets is perfectly fine! Then you can use keywords like "bathroom set" etc. You can put links in product descriptions, but I would link to sections rather than individual listings. If a listing sells out, it changes the link when you restock.

      @@TypeNineStudio What I don't get is the actual mechanics of the link. you can't use html and I don't see any type or link options when writing the description. Does that mean I just write "buy the shower curtain here, If you want the towel go here" and the write out the link?

    Hi, thanks for the tips!
    I have a question about your video i've just discovered, when you open a shop on etsy, the listing should be all about the same idea? or is it ok to mix, not niches, but products. Let me explain, i am making all sort of drawings, realistic portraits, geometric paintings, abstract paintings... that i m offering as a digital download, or a printed version of it. But i also offer those drawings as phone cases, pin buttons or else.. How etsy is coping with this kind of shop offering different kind of products? Is it ok, or should it be better to create one shop for one kind of product. Thank you.

    • @TypeNineStudio
      @TypeNineStudio  Год назад

      Mixed products is a great idea, so if someone likes your artwork they have options of products and different price points. The recommendation system does this pretty well, at least from what I see as a buyer. They know the artwork I like and I get recommended different shops that may be similar. I'd make sure to mention in your descriptions and in a listing photo that the print/design is available on other products too.

  • @jadefyrexiii
    @jadefyrexiii 3 года назад

    Great tips!
    This isn't related to Etsy, but to video production: How'd you set up your lighting for night time filming? I have fairly low amounts of natural light in my studio later in the evening (and obviously none at night) and would love to shoot more vids at night that still look good!
    I'm still working my way through your uploads so I apologize if this has been answered already, but I'm also wondering about titles/descriptions and SEO. I've picked up a few tips here and there, but I've been trying to implement them in my shop and I struggle with it a lot. What are the best practices and what sorts of things should Etsy sellers keep in mind when deciding how to title and describe their products?

    • @TypeNineStudio
      @TypeNineStudio  3 года назад +2

      For the lighting - I have a cheap ring light and I point it towards my white closet doors so it's not too harsh (and so there's not a glare in my glasses) and I replaced my ceiling lights with daylight bulbs so the light is less yellow. It took a bit of playing around with the angles to get a spot where there wasn't a shadow since I can't move the ceiling light.
      I can definitely do a video on SEO! The main things to keep in mind are to use long-tail keywords (like "pink winter hat" instead of just "hat" etc) and make sure you use all 13 tags with those long-tail keywords.

    If I am in a very small niche and no one in my niche seems to get a lot of views, either, what can be done to "upgrade" our listings?
    We all have the same problem of limited keywords, as our items are generally foreign words (Yiddish & Hebrew).
    What we get found for in search is a HOOT! Nothing to do with the items at all.
    Really surprising for a search engine based in NYC.

    • @TypeNineStudio
      @TypeNineStudio  2 года назад

      It sounds like there may not be as much demand for your niche on Etsy. It seems like it has everything, but maybe not so much search volume. Your keywords may have to venture into the more broad categories versus the specific item.
      I would even expand into similar categories with new listings to bring traffic to the shop.

      Add keywords to your tags that you think will turn up in searches regardless of whether they're related to your products or not, buyers don't see them so it doesn't matter. You've kind of answered the question yourself in that buyers are already finding you through unrelated searches.
