I totally get your point on the amount of listings, for me I make products that can take up to a year to design and perfect so having those 20 listings will probably never be a possibility. My products are very wanted though I started selling trough another seller and yes he did have more listings but making a fully handmade product that took me a year to design and multiply that by 20 isn’t very realistic. I have 3 products now and im starting my shop in May with those 3 products snd I’ll see how it goes❤
If a listing sells and it gets renewed, does that count as a new listing and up your quality score even if the number of listings in the shop remains constant..? For example, I have 12 listings and 1 sold. I renew the sold listing and it went back up from 11 to 12 listings.
I currently only have a small number of products (looking to launch more just not quite yet). Would you recommend adding different variations of listings for the same product? Or would you only recommend adding a new listing if it is a completely new product?
It's best to have variations in separate listings. Better for SEO so people can filter search (for example if they're different colors), and gives you more visibility since you'll have more listings. I have a bit more about this in this video - ruclips.net/video/jmveqOu1ZIs/видео.html
@@TypeNineStudio I realized when I did vertical photos, they were cut off slightly in the thumbnail, but when done horizontal it doesn't get cut off. fixing this made my photos look more professional on my page
hey, very interesting video, do you think how you were talkign about the listings that it affects your search score not just in that way that more listings = obviously more views because there is more of them but also that etsy seo somehow "sees" that you have a lot of them so it will recommend you more? Thank you for ansewr
the most honest video i have ever listened to and ya Etsy is brutal i must say ihave tried many times and still nothing. thanks for your input appreciate it.
I reopened my shop over a month ago, I'm only getting maybe 7-10 views a day with maybe half of those actually being visitors. I have 29 items. I had opened it over 2 years ago and got only 2 sales but closed it because I was frustrated with it. I have a following of around 3000 on my facebook page that I post to regularly, and also post on Pinterest. Nothing is helping tho. I do original paintings and drawing plus downloadable digital art.
I had a question, if I have a listing that I don’t want any more, is it better to delete and and make a new one with a different product, or use the same listing and just change the photos and title?
If it has a pretty good sales history it's better to change it, but if it has almost no sales or has renewed a bunch of times I'd delete it and make a new one.
I don't see my listings in the first pages, I mean like in the first 10. Is this because of ads? are the designs on the first pages the ones for which people have paid for ads? I'm so disappointed by this, since it seems to make it on Etsy I have to spend a lot of money on ads and even so it would not cover the cost :(
A lot of mine are the same honestly. Ranking depends on a lot of different factors. You can be on the first page without paying for ads. The most beneficial thing is when you make a sale, that product gets bumped up - but if you're in a saturated niche it doesn't last long because there are other listings doing the same thing. Ads are only worth it if you have items that sell regularly on their own, once you start paying for them it's an endless cycle 😅 I talked about ranking more in this video if you haven't seen it yet! ruclips.net/video/6K8Mmt1RXkM/видео.html
I guess it is my photos because I have good products, almost 100 listings, and good reviews. Daily views have been between 10 and 30 since I turned off ads. It is terrible.
@@TypeNineStudio I had to turn them off because I was spending almost as much as I was making. I am going to work on photos and SEO some more and cross my fingers that things pick up without ads.
Keywords are terms to describe the product. Basically what you would call a product and any related words or phrases. The search and recommendation system uses those to match searches or recommend the products to someone who may be interested in similar products.
New subbie great video! Are there days when you have no sales? What do we do get those daily multiple sales? I have 455 listings and work my behind off daily in my shop. Suddenly It’s been crickets for four days now and I have no idea what’s going on :(
Hi! Yes there are definitely 0 sales days, just this last week actually 😥 There are some days/weeks/months where sales are down depending on the niche - like most shops will have a slump in the summer when there aren't many gifting holidays and people are off on vacation. I did find your shop and it's likely because it's after Valentine's day! I wouldn't sweat it, with that many listings they'll come 💙
Thanks for sharing your knowledge - I have a different problem. The demand is there for my product but I cannot produce it for the price being sold by others on Etsy - literally shops that are selling what appears to be similar for less than the materials cost me. I don’t know how it’s being done and know my products are high quality and literally handmade (gemstone bracelets, stretchy and woven). One distinction I can start to make is to infuse them with reiki - which I’m trained in - but I’m facing the fact that I’m just not able to sell them competitively due to what may be poorer quality items or just cheaper from places outside the US. The competitors have good reviews so I feel like their materials must be just much much cheaper for them to access. Any thoughts? I’m considering moving completely off Etsy since handmade doesn’t seem to be the emphasis …
That's a fairly common problem! Either the competitors have no idea how to price their products and aren't making a profit, they're getting low-quality materials like you said, or they're not really handmade. It's possible to be successful in this scenario, as long as your branding (like photos, messaging, etc) and products are perceived as being higher-quality. Lower price on Etsy doesn't always mean more sales - shoppers can see through that and think something is wrong if an item is too cheap. So I wouldn't be afraid to charge a fair price. Another problem small/new shops have is ordering in bulk. If you get supplies at retail cost from a craft store, it's going to be more expensive than direct from a manufacturer. Maybe see if you can track down manufacturers or get them wholesale from a jewelry supply!
I have 1700 items in my store and my views are around 30 a day. I have optimized my seo and I'm currently fixing my photos but nothing is working. I'm so sad because I'm going to miss out on all of the holiday traffic if I can't get my store going.
That's a lot of listings - I have heard of people adding them too fast in very large quantities and Etsy basically throttles the shop, I suppose it looks suspicious somehow?
@@TypeNineStudio it was over a 4 month period. I've never had a good amount of traffic though. I did my numbers and I'm at 1% conversion for the little traffic that I do have so I guess that's good. I'm just so disappointed to not get more views during this time of the year. I worked so hard to get this going
1% isn't bad! I haven't seen a big increase in traffic this month either, I think people are shopping more in stores because they want to get out of the house.
@@TypeNineStudio it just seems like all my friends who have new stores are getting 100's of sales a week and 1000's of views. I get about 25 views a day sometimes much less than that. Just feels like something is wrong.

That helps even more for that listing, but new ones help the shop overall.
Great ideas with no sugar coating! Sometimes I want just the cold hard facts! What is your Etsy shop link?
That's what I was going for! I don't give out the link because it hurts my conversion when people snoop around 🥴
