Awesome! That's exactly what I have been doing with pinterest. I go into my shop and put the keyword into the search and use that URL for my pinterest link. Then it shows either just that exact product or all the others that have that same keyword in for the buyers to check out. So at least I know that I'm doing it right. Great video.

Thank you for the explanation, that makes a lot of sense. I was following some links from pinterest and nearly all of the etsy related pins went to the users site before jumping on to etsy.
Thank you for the thorough explanation -- it's always easier to listen to advice if you understand the why behind it. The tip at the end to search in your shop to create a good link is genius! I've done this before to link within a description but I need to start using it for other links as well!
Thank you for explaining that. Everyone is telling you to pin from Etsy but I didn’t like the idea of that because the pins don’t look very good. Vertical pins look a whole lot better.
Great info. In general, I really dislike all the Pinterest widgets that "automatically" post your shop links to Pinterest. Even the official pinterest plugin for Shopify was a nightmare the last time I used it.

Hi Kara, thank you for all your valuable info. It's so very helpful. I have a question, I recently discovered my shop is missing the entire page 4. I looked at other sellers with numerous pages like mine, we are all missing page 4. I even changed the link using the new app link it is doing the same. Any thoughts, I am not comp savvy and this has me stumped. Could explain the drop in sales for alot of us if we aren't being seen. Thank you so much Kara😊
That's really weird, but it's not anything we would have control over, it sounds like a technical glitch. You should post it in the technical section on the Etsy forums because that's one place they do check. That's not going to affect sales in any meaningful way, though. Just because it's not showing up in your shop doesn't mean the listings aren't showing in search.
Hi Kara! Thank you for your video :) I'm just starting on Pinterest, so still confused as to how to use Pinterest. I created a business account. But I have two completely different shops on Etsy, so do I create two different Pinterest accounts for each shop, or do I create different boards, or how doest that work? Also, in one of my shops, I sell printable junk journal pages and kits and in my other shop I sell printable greeting cards, party favors and wall art. Should that all be in one Pinterest account or two different ones? And my second question is about "TAGGED TOPICS" on Pinterest: When I use the Pinterest Pin Button extension (Google Chrome), to pin my one of my Esty listings, does it add my Etsy keywords to my Pinterest pin "tagged keywords"? or is it better to go directly to Pinterest and pin from there (filling out the keywords and link and title and description)? Or should I just not worry about those "tagged topics" on Pinterest? (also, why doesn't it let me edit my tagged topics even on my created pins?) I'm new to Pinterest. Thank you in advance!!
All that is covered in my Pinterest class, it's complicated. But if you're pinning directly from Etsy it doesn't really matter because those are considered Etsy's pins since they've claimed the website. If you have your own website then that's different. If all you're doingis Etsy I would keep it in one account and do different boards for each topic.
@@KaraBuntin thank you. i have 2 different shops on Etsy, yes, but I also have 2 different website, but for now i just direct people to etsy to purchase (so website is just for the blogs and for newsletter sign ups for now).

20 isn't that many, so check to see if they're getting any impressions or outbound clicks. If they're not, it won't hurt to delete them, but it won't really hurt to leave them there either.
I like the tip about linking to a search in your own shop. Very handy. However, apart from that I have been doing pinning by creating my own Pins with link to specific products. Last time I checked my Pinterest analytics for the last 90 days I had some 4.5k views and a grand total of 18 click-throughs. That is lousy. And 15 of those 18 were on one pin that wasn’t even a product I was selling. I seriously doubt the value of Pinterest, TBH. And Etsy confirms this by telling me I have zero traffic from social media in my shop. Pretty sad, really.
@@KaraBuntin Okay, but Pinterest doesn’t really have anywhere to add keywords, unless of course you’re going to flood the title field. There’s also the section for “telling people about the Pin” but I’m pretty sure people don’t want to see a bunch of keywords there. Or am I missing something?
Just to clarify, for SEO purposes, are keywords in Pinterest taken only from the title and description, and maybe Alt Text. There is no other place to put keywords (no separate tag or keyword field to enter them), right?
I noticed that when I create a pin on Pinterest and link it to my Etsy listing, within 24-48 hours the title and description that I initially entered into Pinterest has now changed to the same title and description on Etsy. So, all the time I spent optimizing keywords specifically for Pinterest is wasted. Is this something new they are doing or am I doing this wrong?
It's because the pin is linked to the Etsy catalog, so it's turning it into a rich pin that pulls information from the Etsy listing. It's a weird system but the information that you put in will still be there, it's just going to display differently in different places on Pinterest. It's also another reason not to pin directly to listings on Etsy. If you pin using the link to a section in your shop that shouldn't happen.
Hello! I am creating new pins in Pinterest and doing different descriptions and titles. My pin is showing all of my Etsy listing information now. It just started this today! @@AmandaEllis-pi5vw The only way to prevent it is to link to a section in your shop or your shop homepage, as far as I know. If you link tot he listing it pulls from the Etsy catalog, like I explained in the comment above.
Hi Kate. I just started using Pinterest, but I got suspeneded doing like 5 pins, i think I accidentally pin the same item twice. Is there a limit on how many you can pin? Do I must join group board? Or I can just simply create pin and people can find me?
Thank you for trying to explain this. If I may give you a piece of advice: Instead of repeating the same thing many times - sometimes more sometimes less confusing - layout what you want to say first, structure it logically and then create the video. Your viewers will be grateful.
You know what, I spent all last year trying to script things and be organized and it didn't make a bit of difference. I don't worry about it now, my viewers don't seem to mind based on my stats, and I'm a lot less stressed out about RUclips. It is what it is.
If you are directly pinning the way you are describing and not through etsy, if a customer clicks on your pintrest link and goes to your shop that shouldn't count for an offsite ad.... correct? thank you!
Etsy’s “Offiste Ad’s” are nothing to do with pins or links from social media. Etsy ad’s are literally ad’s on Google, etc., that Etsy have paid for to promote your item. IF someone clicks on that link and subsequently PURCHASES that item (within 60? 90? days) then you pay that high fee. And if you are like many people on Etsy - myself included - that have very low profit margins that fee can eat up most, if not ALL, of your profit.
