- Great Knoutberry Hill is easily missed amongst the other great mountains around but during this visit I was determined to hold forth agains the horrendous wind and rain and endure a night out on the summit. Why not!

That looked like a tough one. Hard going in the wet, you kept smiling throughout. Fair play. 👍
Wet going up is always more of a bind but the gradients were steady most of the time except towards the top when there was that steep bit. The scene when I was walking towards the camera and the rain and mist whirled about was just like what it was most of the time! Yeah, I kept smiling! :) Cheers mate. Warren
I see you couldn't see much in front of you such a hazadous hike in that shocking weather. The custard would have made you feel so much better tho .. lol. You like to push the boundaries Warren and that makes great viewing for us .. thanks my friend greatly appreciated. Bushyboy Oz.
Potentially dangerous indeed but I keep safe and am on the spot with navigation. I plan routes very carefully too. Thank you for following along again. Cheers, Warren :)
Nothing wrong with the meal there Warren or the way you made it, warming and filling & and cost-effective 👍
A windy night, literally 😂 I enjoyed this hike and wild camp. A shame about the weather!

I loved this trek even though the weather was foul. And the food was surprisingly good. Cheers, Warren :)
Really enjoyed that- a part of the country that I am unfamiliar with. Can't beat a wild weather camp eh.
It was wild up there that night for sure, loved it though! Cheers, Warren :)
A good night out, even if the weather was atrocious..you could have parked just up the road past Dent station, but then i suppose you would have missed out the train ride and the pint...Love the viaducts and the tunnel, always reminds me of that Genesis song "Driving the last spike"...looking forward to your next Dales adventure.
I realised there were parking options further along past the station but never mind. The trip on the train added the railway dimension for me and gave me the chance of a pint in the pub I like there too. Such a lovely area. I will have to play the Genesis song - they did some cracking tunes. Cheers, Warren :)
Recently got a 2nd Akto, had one many years ago. Got a pair of 10mm poles for it so can laugh at the bad weather this winter.
Well done with the 10mm poles. How do they compare to the standard ones? I think mine are 9mm. The Akto is a fantastic tent I think. Good choice :) Warren
you also have to bear in mind how far you carry the water to rehydrate. often its just as easy and weight-wise little difference to carry wet food. Time Team did a dig up there on the Navvy camp. graves in Cowgill churchyard for 27 dead building the line there. thanks for your efforts Warren. appreciated
Fascinating note you share there about the Time Team on the Navvy camp. There were lots of deaths building the lines back in the day, like when they dug the canals. I wonder if the Time Team episode is available on catch-up. Thank you for tagging along with me, cheers, Warren
@@Linleys i saw a marquee and gazeebos there at the time and wondered what on earth they could be doing. clearly not a wedding. then i saw the program. if you serch Time Team S16-E08 Blood, Sweat and Beers you will find it. not their best but interesting especially if you are a steam head.
Ah right, Cheers, Warren :)
The “Knougt“ in Knoutberry is pronounced as in “clout.
Thank you for the guidance with this. I even asked a couple of folk in the pub before the trek and they didn't know even though they said they were locals. And what about the end part? Is the sound clearly "berry" or cut shorter to "bury"? Cheers, Warren
