The reason that Paul is popular on here is that he is honest and personable. The videos are well made and I for one and glad of the advice. I am a middle aged man sitting here at 5am waiting for a bus to take me to the cardiff end of the Cambrian way to walk on it for three days. If I get lost in the wilderness , it's on you Paul.

So as a Tyrone man who moved to the Peak District over 20 years ago this video is my perfect ven diagram of happiness. I’ve been walking for all those years and developed into a camp addict as I got to that middle age Stephen mentioned. It’s a source of happiness and contentment for me to watch and partake of this hobby. And having a professional chef background it only adds to the fun. Thank you to both of you for the info, advice, entertainment and inspiration you have given me.

I watch you both all the time so you'll never imagine my delight when I saw this video of you both together. I think the main substance for both your content is realism. Paul the quiet mannered gentleman, sharing what he's learnt as we join in on his beautiful walks, inspires us. Stephen's similar approach in being real with his added northern Irish humour (I'm bias I'm from Comber NI). Stephen takes us on some amazing adventures and while lessons are being learnt, he never loses his humour and I love this.
Thank you both for entertaining me in the times between my own adventures! May there be so much more to come! (Insert Stephens theme tune.....) sponsored by squarespace. 🤭🤣🤣🤣

I was half jogging half skipping down the fell to a hotel. Seemed to take ages and if I had tripped up it would have been explosive. The sweat was pouring off me and in a state of panic when I asked the hotel if I could use their toilet.

You try and be polite while trying your best to stop the turtles head coming out of its shell. You know once that happens there will be no stopping it lol.
I've also seen other hikers go through the same thing and can't stop myself from laughing as they race down the mountain. One guy couldn't make it and he put a poncho on and squatted. @PaulMessner is so right about doing your own research and do it while you're filming. Could RUclips be full of creators with a passion for what they do and want to show others what they've found? AND I watch the videos watching people discovering their limits, getting it wrong, camping in a storm, eating camp food....I sometimes say, "Rather you than me" but I also like that kind of entertainment. Paul Messner MIGHT be a fraud but he's good at it and I like it! Keep up the good work @PaulMessner

40 years ago, I worked on Kinder and knew it well, but on two occasions, when out searching with my SARDA dog in bad weather, I got "misplaced" on the plateau. No GPS in those days, just map and compass to get me back on track. The terrain is not easy, which is why the Lakeland search dog handlers didn't like coming to the PD for training weekends!!
