Walking poles can be quite expensive. There are two materials - carbon fibre and aluminium. Alu is cheapest and for most folk is good enough. There are two main types of adjustment, clip or twist. I like the clip but the twist can be cheapest. I suggest you go in to your nearest Blacks / Millets / etc store and see what they have on offer. For the first pair I'd not overspend so you know they are good for you to use. They take a bit of getting used to but I use mine for longer treks and especially if I have a fuller rucksack. It is quite popular I think these days. It did have a makeover a while ago and more recently they repainted the dinging area and changed the signage. Reception was changed too. I have been to this YHA many many times over the years and will be back again this spring. I used to go to the Dannywenelt YHA as well but they are only open during the summer month it seems. Little foxxy was nosey but didn't really disturb us. A little entertainment and company. You are right about how a fox can help make decisions.
