I saw them live in London back in April for the first time. Absolutely amazing show. To see Petrucci, the master of guitar himself, play live was an incredible experience.
Great to see you opening up to Dream Theater. Possibly the best group of rock musicians currently playing. Each one a virtuoso on their instrument. Grammy winners (finally) in 2022 after two previous nominations for their song ‘ the Alien’. Not always so accessible for reactors as many of their best songs are quite long but you should definitely check out ‘Panic attack’ for an accessible track.
I am so happy right now! As you know they are my favorite band and I have been trying to get you to play the song forever since you played Pull Me Under
I can't wait until you guys watch a LIVE Dream Theater video. You simply won't believe that 4 guys can play like they do. You need to WATCH them play. Anything off the "Score", or "Breaking the 4th Wall" blueray DVDs are very good. Cheers!
Live at Budokan is also another stellar live performance by Dream Theater. In The Name of God, This Dying Soul, and Beyond This Life performances on this show are just absolutely insane!!
Saw these guys on their Images And Words tour way back when and they absolutely blew my doors off! Also saw them open for Yes at Red Rocks. That show was one of the best I've ever seen!! Phenomenal live band!
I believe John Petrucci (guitar) of Dream Theater wrote 'Enemy inside' about soldiers suffering from PTSD... This video was a sampler promo in 2013 for their self-titled album... they filmed a music video for it as well. This song is more technically challenging than 'Pull me under' (which had a very simple structure).
They're goated but I have to go with some of the death prog bands like Obscura or Beyond Creation for best prog metal NOW. Protest The Hero and BtBaM as well are still innovating in the genre.
It’s great, but I personally like to listen to Six Degrees as one song. If I don’t have time to listen to the whole thing, I’d probably go for Solitary Shell though. My favorite song however is A Change of Seasons, I’ll listen to the whole thing even if I don’t have time
Proud that these cats are from my neck of the woods. Saw them live once in an outdoor venue here on Long Island. I think the keyboards on this song was meant to sound like Ian Anderson's flute playing in Jethro Tull.
A Rite Of Passage, Constant Motion, Illumination Theory, Octavarium... for me these are my favorite songs from Dream Theater, in fact they should react with one of these songs that they are very good at
You're totally right about the video game thing, it's like sometimes they just can't help themselves from adding in some sort of Halloween cartoon vibe
One of the greatest voices in music just died - Judith Durham - lead singer of the 60 million record sales group - The Seekers. Please react to I'll Never Find Another You. Its a masterpiece.
You should definitely check out some older DT with Portnoy on drums, as these songs are not only technical but also have a higher level of songwriting imho. "Metropolis pt.1", an instrumental "Hells Kitchen" or even try the epic "A Change Of Seasons", but maybe it's too long for this format. Cheers!
Please check out their song Metropolis Part I. It's got the ultimate video game section and is widely, and understandably, considered to be one of their best songs ever.
Hey y'all, great reactions to this song, the band is really awesome, each is performing perfectly . It reminds me of the band Alice Cooper, not the man.. Thanks friends
One of the best female artists from the the late 70's to the 80's sold 100 million records with no internet, she just passed away you guys did not do a review of Olivia Newton-John??????? 😫
IF POSSIBLE, could you do some reactions for Olivia Newton-John. She Joined the Heavenly Choir today after a 30 year battle with Breast Cancer. I Guarantee you'll fall in love with her.
Because your video was unfortunately masked an I don't know the group, I had to take the opportunity to watch the official video. The interviews with Iraq vets at the beginning spell out PTSD in no uncertain terms.
First and foremost, I love you guys dispute the uncanny ability for you to react to 75% of stale and corny music. I respect you to find the attributes in the music you hear. If you are really honest there have got to be songs that you hear and not like. There are songs from my favorite bands that I can't stand. Will we ever see a reaction where you hate the song?
They may not hate anything they have reacted to, but there are definitely times one of them didn't like a vdeo/song. Just because they don't hate doesn't mean you can.
it's pretty obvious to tell when they don't dig a song much. but yea it's never been their style to say "this sucks" (probably bad for youtube engagement too tbh) unless its uniquely out of the ordinary for them.
@@emtallmoose9436 ok I see your pov. More like a manufactured response than a reaction. It makes sense in the grand scheme of things. I'm thinking about the original reactions on FM radio we used to call "Smash or TRASH". This was an honest way of reacting to a song.
@@boki1693 I saw them when they headlined some prog tour. I think it was Portnoy's last album. They only played a 45 minute set so I was kind of a let down. But I could tell Portnoy was in a shitty mood even then.
I agree, but you should also include Scenes from a Memory with those other two. Amazing story telling through the lyrics and the music and the sound effects going on in and between each track. Astoundingly good album.
@@funkster007 That concert wasn't on Long Island was it? If so I went to it too. LOL. It was for Portnoy's last album with them. It was played practically in John Petrucci's back yard in the Brookhaven Amphitheater. Dweezle Zappa went on before them. Not a Zappa fan at all but Dweezle was pretty good. And some odd ball group from England with a very obnoxious Organ player/lead singer before him. And some very forgettable band lead it off.. The excuse for it being short was it was to showcase the other bands. Also, i think they played somewhere in NYC the next night.

Putting your steady faces on a camera for 8 minutes and giving a couple of shallow comments is not enough to be considered a reaction video. It's just stealing the bands' content at this point. You are not adding value to the original content. Not interrupting too often during the listening is acceptable, as a lot of watchers don't like "reacters" to stop the video 25 times during the song, BUT a proper review after the fact is needed. You can give your initial impressions and then add some more after listening to the song a couple more times, giving you enough material to emit thoughtful comments. Failing to do so is just lazy. You are basically making money and visibility on the band's back. Hope the harshness of my tone doesn't put too much shade on the constructive criticism.
Dream Theater is definitely a band that makes you truly appreciate how good they are after seeing them perform live. Amazing musicians.
I saw them live in London back in April for the first time. Absolutely amazing show. To see Petrucci, the master of guitar himself, play live was an incredible experience.
1st time hearing them. I can understand what you mean difficult change ups and keeping in sync sounds like a challenge here.

Best prog metal band on the planet!!
But what about Pink Floyd there good but split up prog rock

Dream Theater play very complex music, which is called heavy prog. This song is fantastic.
"Solitary Shell" is my favorite Dream Theater song.
LOL, I have so many favorite DT songs.

this way more complex fast and technical than pull me under, what you smokin brad?
Just found out Olivia Newton John died today at age 73 I loved her music back in the 70s .My favorite was I honestly Love you
I just heard too. It's so sad 😞. She was such a lovely woman. My favs are Magic and A Little More Love. RIP sweet Sandra Dee.

finally back on DT, great choice. been a fanboy for 20+ years. missed you guys for a minute, my youtube algorithm is hiding you guys. very odd.
Brad, thank you for watching and listening to one of my favorite bands, while wearing a shirt displaying my ABSOLUTE favorite band. Subbed for life.

Dream Theater best ever!!
Love DT - Some cool Zappa vibes in there (circus)
Whoa wasn't expecting this
Mike Portnoy is definitely on the Mt. Rushmore of drummers along with John Bonham, Neil Peart and Keith Moon. - May all three of those guys RIP.
Mike Portnoy definitely is but this was Mike Mangini on drums (Portnoy left Dream Theater about 2010).

Great Long Island band...one of the best!!!

Music for people afflicted with ADD :)
DT is insane..... just never was a huge fan of the vocals. The instrumentation? It's just insane
