What blows my mind is how HUGE he makes 3 drums and an array of cymbals sound. You'd swear he was playing on some mega kit.

I use o watch loads of drummers on RUclips but since i saw this guy,no one comes even close to his ability around a drumkit. Awsome.
The importance of dynamics in playing cannot be understated. He's a total master.

Absolute genius. There is more than just practice at play here, the guy has a god given talent.
Near total limb independence, speed, originality, talent musicality, and total dedication to a work ethic that at times is 8 hours a day. There is no doubt in my mind that he's changing the face of drumming and taking it from the rear of the stage to the front and center. As, always a great reaction Colby and yes...he is nearly robotic, yet still makes it look effortless ( Ps I want that Varus set oh.. so badly)
I know nothing about music. I played clarinet way back in the day as a kid and hated every second. I didn't know how to read music and thought it was dumb.
After seeing this beast, I've become absolutely obsessed with the drums. I never realized how difficult the technique was and how in shape you have to be to do this. I've gained a new respect for anyone who can do this. Truly athletic!!
What's crazy is how effortlessly he seems to play it, perfectly. Dare I say this guy is on a level above even Mangini and Portnoy.

OMG el estepario is the max Verstappen of drums: young, enthusiastic, doesn’t commit errors, and it leaves all that know how to do this, in absolute AWE, and the rest too.

I’ve been a DT fan since 1994, Portnoy & Mangini have incredible talent that they work hard at pushing themselves with. Here’s an example of practicing and practicing and perfecting skills.
After seeing Portnoy and Mangini, I never thought anyone on Earth could play as fast, smooth, complex, and solid as they, and then came El Estepario came along.....

Really complicated music patterns just come so easy with this machine. I'm no musician but that ending was not your stand 4/4. His independence is beyond phenomenal, and his timing is so damn precise that atomic clocks set themselves to HIM! Yes he learns a song for about two weeks then records it, that's called work!
El Estepario Siberiano did a video breakdown on DTs Dance Of Eternity, and why he thinks Portnoy is one of the best all time. There was background story too. He was dating a chick that wasn't giving it up and she was a DT fan. He asked her if he learned Dance of Etetnity would she reward him ? She agreed. So piece by piece he showed us how he learned each part and the difficulty of them. After demonstrating the part he would comment ...' And that's why Mike Portnoy is one of the greatest drummers. So Portnoy pops up in the comments ..and almost in disbelief thanked Mr Siberiano after saying ..really ? Then he told El Estepario he was pure fire and was glad he helped him get laid.

Well, that is because he shows us the takes that are perfect. Some of these covers require him to practice the song 1 or 2 weeks before recording it, and then it might be done by the 20 take.. He has said that many times. Either way, his new project is starting streaming his rehearsals... that will be cool...

Im a huge DT fan. They needed to do something. They havent released a truly great DT style epic masterpiece since 2013. Its not Mangini's fault. He just doesnt have the life chemistry with the band and writing skills that Portnoy has. Hes a great drummer, but the world is full of great musicians. He was signed on to DT when they firing on all cylinders. They put 2 good albums out , and its been down hill since as far as great albums. The 3rd album they did with him was completely different. Fans hated it. So DT started writing songs based on RUclips comments. Heavy prog Metal. .thats all the fans wanted. So 4 guys played as hard as the song permitted without any personal or emotional touch. In other words...noise. Great musicians make great noise, but it was meaningless.
