    Great video and information! I'm installing an alh in my ranger. I don't think I'm going to need to block heater seeing that I'm in Florida but I do need to work out the details on my heater core for the 1 or 2 months that it gets "chilly" here. haha

    Thanks Kyle for another great detailed video. I just brought home a 2009 all-wheel drive Pontiac Torrent (same as a Chevy Equinox). I dropped my plans to use my Chevy Venture minivan. I'll be working on the adapter plate for my ALH to bolt up to the Torrent 5-speed automatic this summer. I have the torque converter to flexplate figured out. I decided after all not to go mtdi and go fully electronic so your wiring harness videos are especially appreciated.

      Cool project. Why a Pontiac torrent though? Because you found it cheap or something? I think the vw tdi would bolt right in to a vw Tiguan without adapter plates..? The gearing would he off , and the electronic dash would to bit you'll encounter that with the torrent also..

    Whats your take on coolant ball? If you had one would you use it? Or do any of your other swaps have em?

      Best I understand you need the coolant ball is there to allow expansion of the water because the radiator sits lower than the engine so it can't have the expansion space or overflow system. As long as your radiator is the highest point the ball is not needed, that's how all mine are

    Love the NPT Roll pipe adapters to join the hoses 😂😂 definitely something I would do.
    How has the black iron smooth coupler held up? They rust to pieces!

      I think the g-05 coolant I use is pretty non-corrosive because I haven't noticed any issues 🤷 yes I do like the odd ball fixes though 😂😂

      There are only a couple of differences between all the the engines for coolant routing, I can try answer your questions here until I get a PD engine in the shop to make a video on

    where'd u get the "metal" version of the water fitting on the back of the engine block.??? I 'd like to buy it and swap my plastic one out

    Excellent video! On another element...what's your opinion on the best motor mount system for a tdi conversion into a 91 toyota pick up?

      I definitely always do side mounts either rubber or hydraulic. I have multiple videos showing my setups on each swap. Front mounts are not a good idea in my opinion.

    So im using a coolant reservior bulb. You said you can just run the steam vent in the head right to the small nip on the bulb? Did you mean tee it into the bulb? Doesnt it have to be connected to the upper rad hose as well with the flange that comes on the car?

      The bulb is only meant to give steam from the head an escape, the top of the radiator is designed to be that escape point on most of these swap vehicles, so you can add the bulb, but you are basically making 2 high points then, connecting them together is optional depending on bulb placement. In the car the radiator was lower than the engine so no air stayed in it. These swaps have the radiator as the highest point often

      @@TDISwaps maybe ill tee that into the top of the rad, but its a rear engine car with a rad in the front. 73 beetle……sorry to ask you another question but can you tell me if this sounds correct/will work? I have the 3 outlet plastic flange on the head, im going to use the original egr cooler outlet as heater core supply, and ill use the end of the hard pipe as return. The smallest nip on the flange is oil cooler feed, and again back to the hard pipe for return. The largest nip goes to top of the rad. The first outlet on the hard pipe goes to the bottom of the reservior, and the thermostat flange goes to bottom of the rad. I think what was confusing me the most was that i thought the hard pipe was coolant supply, but its where coolant goes back to the thermostat. Also, this is an ALH/BHW 2.0 hybrid

      @joeysprojects9081 yeah especially in that type of a setup I don't know that I'd worry about the extra tee into the upper hose. But yes that all sounds correct!

    where do you buy your coolant hoses, connectors and T offs, im having issues finding stuff

      I just go to the back of the parts store with a tape measure and start looking at random ones that fit the shapes I need. I also have a whole tote of random used hoses I cut and splice as needed. Clamps I order in bulk online Amazon/eBay

      @harleyinglis5360 so I only got one hose for the TJ, the rest was scraps I had laying around.     Unless you live in Canada not really needed. Thease engines will start without glow plugs down to 0°F.

      @ktmfour1007 ya I don't even need glow plugs, but I also have access to power everywhere I go so I tend to keep them warm when it's convenient through the winter.

      @@TDISwaps yeah totally understand route some brake line around the battery keep that warn probably would help tremendously in extreme cold. Like a reptile heating pad lol and some insulation . if u need reliability on startup to be at work on time lol snake heating pad is like 5w probably could wire them into one plug
