    I have a Romanian WASR 10 and it never stops firing until I reload and blows the X ring right out at 100yds, never had any problems with it ever with thousands of rounds through it.

      My first ak was a wasr10. Bought in ban condition in 2004 just after then ban lifted so no one wanted it. Came with the gun, 4 mags, and a case of wolf for $258 out the door.
      Since then I cannot tell you how many thousands of rounds went thru it. When I got it a case of wolf was $80 so it was common for me and my brother to blast 500 to 1k rounds per range trip.
      Had the handguards smoking and the barrel glowing red more than once and it never missed a beat.
      I can still off hand pop 12 guage hulls out to 50 yards with it.
      Absolutely fantastic rifle. Just beware of that summabitch handguard rivet. Feels like a bee sting when you touch it hot lol

    Your ak might have had some alignment issues but none of the inexpensive ones are perfectly aligned and most of them still function quite well. You’re treating the ak as if it’s an ar and as if it has tight tolerances like an ar. It doesn’t, that’s why it’s one of the most reliable rifles in the world under so many different circumstances.
    A few issues with your informational video though, the underfolder doesn’t work well with your magazine because it wasn’t made for a magazine that size. The gas tube is what guides the piston into the gas chamber so when you have the gas tube installed the piston does not bump into the gas chamber. Also like almost any new weapon it may need to be broken in so it operates a little more smoothly.
    You’re also creating problems that don’t exist. You’re not supposed to ride the bolt with your hand when you’re cocking the gun. You pull and release. Riding it is not good for any gun. Do the same thing with an ar and the same thing will happen, the gun won’t go into full battery. I don’t even know why you’re doing that. Have you ever seen a single gun expert do that with any gun ever? The answer is no.
    I’m no ak expert but I’ve owned many over the years and the key to getting a good gun like anything else when you’re shopping is to do your research.

    You know what will smooth out the action? Shooting it a lot to wear everything in. AK's are known for function not aesthetics. If aesthetics is a big deal you want to be looking at a saiga AK or something that has been converted with a fine tooth comb. Romanian AK's are very reliable rifles. These are not going to be precision machined like a an AR15's components. You will have tooling marks and less tolerances because they were designed to shoot full auto.

    Gas tube guides piston into place. But you’re right when you said what might happen over time. My experience has been gas piston ends up with more wobble and runs better over time. Your video seams to be the only one showing how to check alignment of piston and gas block. Now the argument if you should have wobble with the piston and bolt carrier handle. The answer is yes if you has things that are off slightly. On my Vepr? No it doesn’t because everything is straight. On my WASR 10. Yes and l’m glad it is because Century built it and it is out of alignment some. Action runs smooth now after 500 rounds. Also look at the top rails of a receiver. Some companies do a terrible job on their receivers and the rails are up and down. Jim Fuller is right when he says many of the economical AK’s won’t last forever but if you’re a weekend warrior then not a big deal.

    Check the rivets. You should not be able to slide a sheet of paper between the receiver and the rivet. Also, the best rivets are dome-shaped and they should never be perfectly flat

    You made a lot of good and valid points, but you are off on a few things. When buying an AK, you should try to avoid buying an AK that is assembled in the US. There is nothing wrong the Romanian kits. The issue is with who builds the gun. US assemembled guns are often cheaply and poorly put together. For that price range, you could have got a WASR. You want to buy AKs that are built in there original country like Bulgarian Arsenal or Russian VEPR. The action is stiff with virtually every new AK. Just shoot it a lot to wear it down. If you really want to get good information on AKs, make an account on the AKfiles.com, which is a forum with tons of good information and smart people. Not trying to be a dick or anything, just trying to pass on what I know about AKs. Good luck with that thing. If Blackheart doesn't help you or you're not satisfied with it, try to sell and and get something nicer since you now know more.

    Good tips! I myself just got into the AK Game back in November. I decided to save up and just go for an Arsenal (I got the SAM7R) to reduce the chances of getting a dud.
    Never be intimidated in a gun store! You bought the rifle, make sure it's good to go! Believe me, the FFL could care less, especially if it was an online order as they have no skin in the game aside from a transfer fee.
    I also advise to obtain a special Front Sight Adjustment Tool for AK's as I didn't know you needed on for zeroing haha.
    Now for pricing:
    "Budget" would be in the $500-$750 range where you typically find your WASR's (Can be good AK's if you get one that was built well. Likewise you can get an utter piece of crap, it just depends how the factory was that day), Century RAS-47's (Junk), and Interordinance (AVOID IO AT ALL COST)
    *Note* - Palmetto State Armory is getting into the AK game and have complete AK's for $650 and AK kits for $399.99. I am waiting for more testing on those.
    "Mid Grade" would be $750 - $1100 where you find the Century C39 V2 (Milled AK, make sure it is Gen 2) and DDI's.
    "Premium" is $1100+ where you find your Arsenals & Rifle Dynamics.
    Of note: You can always send you AK into Rifle Dynamics and they will throughly go over it and "rebuild" it in addition to adding things that you would like on it. I am considering that for my Arsenal down the road.
    *BIG NEWS FROM SHOT SHOW 2017*!!!
    Arsenal is introducing a new AK-47 with MSRP of $850! So you likely can find it cheaper in stores! I can't wait to see how it performs because if people can nab an Arsenal sub $800 that will be fantastic for the industry as a whole because all the manufacturers will have to up their game and quality to compete!

      Mark, great input. Thanks for adding! I ultimately returned the AK in the video and have been scared to "pull the trigger" again. Would you recommend the SAM7R? Did you buy it local or online? It is kinda crazy there is no one properly serving the sub 1k market well. Big opportunity for someone like Arsenal if they can actually pull it off.

    I'm having a hard time understanding something. Ak's were designed to be made inexpensively out of cheaper materials and with less precision than an AR15. They have been produced in Egypt, China, poor countries in Eastern Europe and retained their reputations as reliable and low maintenance. So why are some US made AK's like Century Arms and PSA more expensive than some decent AR's and not super reliable?

    • @0Asterite0
      @0Asterite0 5 лет назад +2

      Because that's just a myth. The AK is only cheap to make when you have cheap communist labor in a factory set up to make a large number of them (in the tune of tens or hundreds of thousands). The com block countries making them also had Russian engineers to help them through the factory setup and process. Theres a lot of subtlety to the ak design that's very purposeful, but that's what makes the ak so awesome.

  • @tampz0nz

    Right away I noticed that while this uses romanian parts. They are not the same parts made in the Romarm factory that produces military rifles and parts for wasr 10's. This looks like a nova modul rak-1, or parts from it. Which is made in a civilian plant in cugir romania. I see parts kits from this factory pop up for very cheap to this day and stay away from them. Get something that you know was made in a real state arsenal that produces military rifles.

      @@gadgetdad765I stated a few for ya..
      Just look at the 1st message..
      As for rifle Dynamics, I kept on having problems with the gun jamming I tried different magazines and different ammo and the problem continued the area where the round goes in the chamber is not rounded so I think that may contribute to the problem rifle Dynamics told me that it shouldn't be causing that..
      I went to Red October too and that's when I first started having the problem shortly after I sent it to get checked out and they had the gun for almost six months they sent it back to me and on the first magazine after getting it back the problems continued I kind of just gave up on them they are very overrated regardless of what people think.
      Pros to Rifle Dynamics are that they are lightweight even though they do shop a couple inches off the barrel the rear sight is nice.. but that's about it. Other than that your paying for the name...
      As for Joe firearms you get a lot more bang for your buck you get flared magazine well quick mag release left and right hand charging handle.. also they could do custom cerakote jobs for you camo Digi whatever.

    When i saw made in the USA I knew the problem. Romaine aks are excellent but because of laws they cut the receivers apart and put new us receivers and trigger groups in. This causes the guns to kinda suck. I have a romainian ak and it's got the milspec triangle with the arrow in it and it works great. I probably have fired 9000 rounds or more. The receiver is a nodak Spud. They are great receivers. Also if you don't want mag wobble, look for the ak receivers that have dimples in the magwell region. That's a sure shot sign to know the mag isint sloppy. Good luck to ya!

    • @StevenRathburn
      @StevenRathburn 4 года назад +2

      The dimples have nothing to do with mag wobble dummy! It give the receiver rigidity.. that’s it. Even on the AK’s with them they don’t even touch the magazine a lot of time. And 9 thousand round huh? Ok

    • @aaronkong8393
      @aaronkong8393 3 года назад

      Alot of Romanian AKs imported to the US are factory produced, no US receivers. They just come into the country with smaller Magwells so that they can be imported. American companies open the magwells for standard mags and puts 922r parts into them, they’re still almost 100% Romanian made. What you’re talking about is parts kits. That’s a whole different thing.

      After several rounds sending back and forth to Blackheart, they gave me the option to refund for a 13% fee. Kinda ridiculous to get a jacked rifle and have to get a fee to get money back. Happy to pay the fee and get some money back vs. a rifle I will always have questions about. I have heard of some people taking to a gun smith but can easily spend 2 to 3 hundred on it. Crazy if the gun only cost 600. I'd suggest trying to call and work with manufacturer. Maybe you will get one that really cares about having a good product and will work to straighten. Be ware that even shipping something back and forth is not easy and will cost about $100. Most of the FedEx and UPS totally freaked out when I brought it in and told me I would need all kinds of documentation to ship it back. The dealer normally has ability to send you shipping labels to make things easier if you can get them. Hopefully that info helps. Good luck and let me/us know how it goes and if you learning anything on how to get sorted out.

Remember, gun people love to help and educate other gun people, never be shy to say I'm new at something can you teach me. Say something like, "I'm new to this type of gun, can you show me how to clear it." Or "Can you help me double check that the gun is clear". Obviously, always try to obey the four rules of gun safety, sometimes hard not to have it pointed at someone when you are in a store, but you can do your best to keep pointed up, down or in direction where there is no people. I would recommend you _NOT_ buy a bargain basement or "budget" AK or any thing for that matter. In America you do not need to do this as there are many, many other (honest) ways to get a "good" or great AK. Foe example:
    - save up, you don't need the rifle right now, put two (2) or three (3) dollars a day in a piggy bank and in a year you will have enough to get that sweet AK
    - buy used, Gun Broker or you local gun store probably has some use higher quality used AKs
    - Pawn Shops have previous owned AKs check them out.
    God bless

    I would suggest you buy higher end factory built browning , Winchester, or weatherby. and stay away from stamped euro if you are looking for nice fit and finish, try a fn, after browning entered, ak is the lowest end poorest built hard to destruct rifle ever built I love my sks better quality, machining , and finish, you don't expect that from a real ak you bend the sights in every direction to make it hit target and when you lose it and find another one ran over in the road you do the same so you can hit with that rifle its not for everyone to hit its not built to be perfect just to be good for the guy holding it

      Nope, but probably should be. Was waiting to do one when I figure this out but haven't had the confident to pull that trigger again b/c the general AK "quality" is just so different then what I am used to in the AR world.

      @@gadgetdad765 Arsenal is the best " production" AK.
      They have been known to have delicate finishes on them.
      I have seen the yugo paps work well in classes.
      The Palmettos are good guns. The newer hammer forged FN barreled ones look exceptionally good if you can find one.
      Russian Saiga conversions are good but expensive.
      If I could only have one production AK it would be an Arsenal 107 series.

      @@gadgetdad765 yw.....don't get discouraged everyone gets bit by one gun or another not working right.
      I have had expensive SIG pistols with loose sights, Kimbers with loose grip bushings.
      If you have an more questions let me know....I have helped build two AKs and seen a few more assembled.
      The kit builds from good builders are way expensive now because the kits are drying up. A matching number Romanian kit,plus a 100% receiver and some 922r parts probably makes the best gun. Then you can have it coated....but that expensive. I have 2 rifle dynamics guns from back when Jim did builds for $350 on your parts.
      I don't like the new gas blocks he is putting on them now. I don't know if Mark Krebs is still building but he makes/made a nice rifle too.
      That guy Robski reviews alot of them on youtube and the ones he recommends would be good guns.

    Good video. Great information. I’m an AK fan myself and wish I knew these things before my first AK. I did get lucky and got one of the good WASR rifles that never had an issue. My next three AKks have all been Arsenal with my current being a SAM7SF.
    Something to check on the stamped receivers are the rivets. Too lost and they can fall out. Too tight and they bend the stamped metal and can make the barrel out of alignment. I like the SLR107 (stamped) and the SAM7 for milled. Arsenal does a great job with the triggers as they both have a 4lb trigger pull.

    All ak47 ya see any more in the USA are budget low end ak47. All I ever see in the stores in my area are junk io ras47 and npaps. Used to see wasr and would be able to pick out a good one but haven seen any any place. Heck don't see meany good ones on line any more. Would like to get the arsenal slr 107 for 849.00 but every one is out of stock on them Ben out of stock for a long time. What ever happened to the Egyptian maddie? Seen a ak63ds on Atlantic but don't know if it junk or not. Not hardly any thing about them on the internet. Want one that I can count my life on. Can't afford a 3,000.00 dollar Jim fuller ak47. Yeah he knows his shit about ak47 but I think he full of shit on most shit to make his work out to be gods of ak47. He is a business man just like every one else so of course he going to talk up his from every one else. Like the wasr. Made for there military it the same sent to the USA they are used by people over sea in war and some contractors private security. But they bottom of the bearrle ak hi. So if people take them to war and trust there life with them hum what that tell you? Maybe they better then you thing. I don't see Jim fuller ak being used in real combat. Why waist the money that probably don't even have on a 3,000.00 dollar gun that all it going to be is a safe queen. Get a reall gun that Ben proven in combat that you won't be afraid to put a scratch on it. Wasr are tanks they run good they shoot good. Yes they had some issues in the past but most of that with the newer ones is solved. Just inspect it like any other gun you would buy. In my own 2 cent I would not go higher then 1,000.00 for any ak47. You worried about this and that ak well go get a dam ar15. Ar15 are fucking awesome I have a bcm. For me it runs great threw cold weather rain snow mud it's a beast. I clean it ones a MONTH no problem. Just saying cheaper ak just because they are cheaper dose not mean they are junk don't fall into the if it not 3,000.00 dollar gun it junk. Just do your part look it over do research just like any other gun you buy. Do your part and you be happy. Don't let any one tell you you have to get this or that because it better bull shit. I seen wasr and I seen wbp polish ak47 and arsenal and not a whole lot of a difference. One might have a little bit more better paint job that's it ooooo who cares long as it works for what you need it for.

      +GARAGE “DAprojectTuRtle” BUILT - Can you help be specific? What has your experience been? FYI... I called RD and they are at a 6-12 month wait for their production rifles. When I said it was too long, they came back that they could do it in 4-6. Crazy.

    • @GaragebuiltOriginal
      @GaragebuiltOriginal 7 лет назад +1

      well here's the thing about rifle dynamics.. Their customers will say they are great.. But I feel that is subjected to the fact they dished out their money for one. If you look into what RD actually does for the rifle if your just sending one into be JIM FULLERIZED, you'll see in my opinion a lot of it is basic stuff that most gunsmiths can do without the 6-9month wait for half the price.. The replacing of the FSB with a FSB/GB combo just to save a 1lb of weight up front sounds great and all but it is at the expense of a shorter sight radius.. Also the FSB/GB combo they use requires you to file down the sight itself when zeroing the rifle, which is not good because then you cant add material once it is removed.. The U-Notch that they do to the rear sight leaf is easily done at home.. Yes they replace the barrel of your rifle with a new US made barrel that is also shorter but then pin a muzzle device on which then limits muzzle device interchangeability.. Also unless you have shot out your rifles barrel (20k+ rounds) replacing a combloc CHF barrel for a US barrel is just dumb.. the FCG filing that they do is highly questionable in the sense of does it actually help anything.. Yes they bead blast and repaint the rifle which is good if you've totally manhandled your rifle to where its all scratched up but like most if you haven't this becomes redundant.. Some folks will say well you don't own one or haven't shot one so you have no right to say what you say.. Well my friend to make it simple and to provide an example we all know kia cars are crap for the most part and we didn't have to buy one to know that.. If you only shoot maybe 1k rounds a year than a RD rifle might be perfect. But if you shoot a lot and if you evaluate what you get for the money you spend you might digress in choosing RD as a rifle company for your AK..
