Brilliant video however am stuck in retail mode in my dev mode i cant find my way back to dev mode settings with the left hand tab saying home settings and xbox live any ideas?? Also your xmb bar on retoarch is alot better in the secind part of the video how did you do that?
Try enabling dev mode from settings as show in the video. Retroarch sorted its resolution after applying all the updates.
The series s would be the best value. Considering a shield is around 200. Don't think there will ever be a change to how the xbox sets up dev mode. Think if people started to maybe unlock more hardware available in dev mode Microsoft would start to ban accounts. Dev mode is not using all available hardware on the xbox. But this is really only a week old in terms of S and X platforms.
Great video, I got really far doing this, I got stuck at the point where you add a user. I tried my xbox one and no luck, is it the email that you set up with parter center?
Same here, did you have to create a separate password for the dev account? I don't remember if I did.

at the dev screen, go to home and you’ll log into your xbox love account. you can add others in your family too.
Great video for the beginners, thanks for making it. I've got everything set up on my Series S, with 150 GB set aside for my dev mode partition. However, after pushing only about 20 GB of stuff to the xbox it says that I am out of room. Have you encountered this? Are you aware of storage limitions to individual apps in developer mode?
I read about a 2GB game limitation. I have only been using external storage.
@@leepspvideo 2 GB per ROM is what MVG said about PS2. I was able to upload far more than 2GB.

Can’t figure out how to pay and make a dev account on Windows PCs. Jumping though so many hoops. Can’t find a good tutorial. I can’t get to the activation part at all. Any suggestions .Edit I've fix this as of today I got this to work.

@@Pyro0294 I just made a whole new email and it worked that way. It doesn’t have to be your linked email to Xbox. Make sure you choose individual the first time.
Will I get banned from online games?
Downloading the icon with the X/S Series Xbox on the icon off the app store fixes the hanging issue. That particular app will replace the older black and white icon dev mode icon. The newest updates (betas) for the dashboard seems to have disabled on some versions the hot key method off the console about area. With the newer version of the app I have no issues with the newer app at all.
@leepspvideo I was trying this out but I don't get the option to Start Directory (about 8:34 in the video). I just have a bunch of drives listed there. Do you have some sort of file browser installed?

I found 2 versions of this app on the store. One is called Xbox Game Dev and has a picture of Series X/S in the thumbnail and the one you're showing. Which one should i use?
I would guess the one with the same tile as my video shows. I wonder if the other one is newer?
@@leepspvideo It appears the one i downloaded is newer. I found another video from 3 years ago and it uses the same app that you did. I then saw another video using the version i downloaded which might be optimized for Series X and S if i were to hazard a guess.

I have RA doewnloaded on my Xbox is Dev mode but am interested in downloading games remotely via server. Any ways to do it? I'm on Mac as well and can only find guides on how to do this with a PC. So far my attempts have fallen short and I do not know where to go from here.

how do you get games on your computer? I just bought NFL 2k5 disk for the original xbox. Trying to figure out how i can play that using Dev mode

You have to download the Xbox one version.
For me the Windows UWP Works installing After manualy Downloaded the Microsoft.VCL......... Data and add it at the Second Window After Adding the retroarch data
Please do you have serious problems with "file picker " ??? It's look like closed sandbox is used for retroarch run and here are save and edit problems with configuration. .

I’m not sure, but I think you either have a Storage device formatted for Xbox games or Data.

You should be able too, especially since Xbox support it (most games)

PS2 is available as an add on to Retroarch.
Do you have to have a usb stick for games or can you send them over?
You can copy them over to the ssd drive. GameCube and PS2 games seem to only work from your Xbox SSD.

Hello realy apreciate your Videos. But for me retroarch wont Show the Assets and wont want Load gamecube games and psp . Show Black screen and Returns back to retroarch .
Try the standalone PSP it worked great in my last video.

My files come zipped and then when I try to unzip them I don’t know which one to add bro plz help me I can’t add the file zipped it won’t read it and then when I download the Microsoft visualc++ it’s the same thing I don’t know which one to click when I unzip it :(
hey I have a mac too I formatted my usb drive to fat32 it reads in regular mode but not in dev mode, do you know if there is any way you can ftp or ssh into the device form a mac i read you can do it via windows.
My drive was formatted as fat32 and works with my Xbox. I formatted it with Raspberry Pi imager.

Yes. Unzipping depends on which emulator you use.

Do you need a computer to do this?
No, as mentioned in the video. Pretty much anything with a web browser can transfer the programs to your Xbox in Dev mode.

Yes, just select leave dev mode and it will restart your xbox and let you sign into your original account

@@iCleanPlayerx-l ya its kind of scary at first, just make sure you uncheck the box to keep all the loaded games and prevent the process from starting all over from zero. I already made that mistake once 😂

When you switch out of Dev mode retail mode works the same as before.

I'm trying to play a psp game and it always says it can't read the file, I tested it on my laptop and it works just not on my xbox. Anybody else have this problem?

I have only tried with usb. Others have installed games to the ssd.

No if you've already purchased the Microsoft developer license for Xbox then you shouldn't have any problem doing it with your Xbox series X console just download the dev Mode app type in the link that it tells you to go to and enter the code that it gives you to activate your console

007 is a terrible emulated game, no matter what system you play it on, unfortunately. It just runs terribly, except on a N64.

@@fadlidriss8438 Download that rom to a USB stick, and stick the USB into the xbox. Youll be able to access the USB files from retoarch app

xbox series X wasn't connected to the internet (dev mode side, someone suggested check if connect to internet, tried connecting via wifi (in dev mode) wouldn't connect, tried ethernet cable it connected to the internet and signed in, works NOW
(before I connected ethernet cable I uninstall the dev mode app, restarted, downloaded/installed dev mode app again and went through the steps)
hopes this helps anyone else stuck in similar situation

It is an official Microsoft mode, but it’s possible.

Ordinary Dev mode is a Microsoft feature. Adding non store programs in Retail mode is not recommended

It saves onto your SSD.

I doubt a person would get banned.
Emulators are usually legal.
They do give you a way to legally get Dev Mode & I've heard this method been here for awhile now.
I can't see a reason why they would ban you.
I had Developed Mode since 2016. Its Microsoft, so they wouldn't ban you for something they pushed out to the public.
Can ps5 do this? Any ideas if Microsoft will remove this feature from being able to be accessed in the future?

No it requires highly expensive hardware dev kit, NDAs and more just to even posses a dev kit. The last I checked the kits for Sony and Nintendo will require at the bare minimum a $5000 cost. That was quite a few years back when I checked. Hell for Nintendo you have to prove your location is secure to even have a dev kit on the premises or they won't let you have one even with the money.

@@zero-theaveragegamer1159 for $20 bucks for the dev license the quality of the emulation and the ease of setup makes it pretty worthwhile with the host of games that can be played that way. Most of the PS1 and 2 library work so yeah I guess it is a much bigger catalog LOL

No, you can put games onto a usb drive from most phones, tablets, Chromebooks etc. With a file manager on the Xbox I think it’s probably possible with just the Xbox and it’s web browser.

You have to go to remote access settings when your Xbox is in dev mode. Under authentication you can set up a username & pw

Yes, but you need a separate web browser to install it to Dev mode.

For some reason, the IP address on my Xbox and the one on the Device Portal are different, is there a way to fix that? It’s not letting me use the Xbox IP address on my browser to continue

i just started getting into emulators. i found a cracked phoenix 5 on the side of the road. i got ppsspp and retroarch. i tried classicboy before using retroarch. imo classicboy is trash compared to retroarch.
my favorite interface is ppsspp but i do like retroarch color change. cute red is my favorite.

I tried to get this working on the weekend. Most stuff is sorted no problem. I'm in dev mode, installed the emulator fine, but I have one weird problem that is preventing me from doing anything. I can't sign into my MSA in dev mode, from what I can see I have to provision my account to work in the dev sandbox but hours of searching has given me no answers. Any ideas?
Did you just sign in using your regular MSA or did you make a new one specifically for this? Any help appreciated!
