We can never have enough TaeTae language. Jin once said that V was still learning Korean. He really is a divergent thinker so he never does the predictable. I was so excited when I knew that V was next on your list because of his unique use of language. SUGA and RM seem best at translating it for us. There was even a question about it on a quiz that the boys took for Festa one year. Just a small point. V is a baritone not a bass which gives him a smooth lower range tone rather than a very deep tone. So just one other Busan Boy to go. Thank you, Billy.
His TaeTae language is so cute. I love, love, love his speaking voice so much. His voice is really deep but is really soft at the same time. His speech is beautiful and unique just like him.
Thank you for this! I've long suspected that translation snafus happened a lot with V's speeches in both fan and official content translations/transcripts over the years. As a result, a lot of people tend to view V as "weird" (not in the adorable sense, and some use the term taetae language derogatively) - when he is in fact, extremely polite, intelligent and creative in conveying his messages. His lyrics tend to be very descriptive and paint beautiful pictures, rather than straight up verbal. I am definitely interested in a Part 2 of Taetae language! 🙏💜
This was 💯 needed. I've used primarily Run BTS for my fluency and this video series has been so clarifying on stuff I've been confused about for the longest time. Because of Taetae language I've learned so many wrong things. Other viewers who see this, beware of 3 things: Taetae speech, Jin's dad jokes, and the random casual speech even from the youngest members that, in any other social situation outside of them being so family-like, may not be appropriate. 😂 Otherwise Run BTS paired with these videos are the perfect resource. Thank you soooo much you don't even know. Your a ... well there are no lifesaver emojis. I could have sworn I saw one. Whatevs. Here's some candy.🍬🍭🍫
i’ve been waiting for this one. taehyung’s unique character was one of the things that drew me in from “i think bts is cool” to “i think i need to know everything about them”
Wow, I've only watched a little bit, but I can see how many people who have met him would find him charming. The low voice, gentle intonation and very polite language, he would sound very disarming and warm.
I would also love a long video on Taehyung‘s unique speech patterns and inventive turns of phrase.I think a lot of fans would love such content because we’ve heard that his speech is very unique but we have no way to grasp it. Like poetry, such things are so hard to translate. Thanks so much for giving us some insight. More would be so very welcome.
I’m embarrassed that I didn’t know his language was that different. I thought the humor about TaeTae were just his change in voice annd intonation and a little baby talk. I have been missing the point entirely. Thank you for the translated examples
Firstly thank you! Secondly, keke Tae’s nickname is ‘Good boy’ for a reason. Thank you so much for this great analysis, you hit the nail on the head for so many key features of our beautiful Tae’s Korean. How gentle and extremely softly spoken he is in normal speech (I.e when not super excited on a variety show etc as you also pointed out so well) and how extra polite he is, even when attempting to scold even when excited etc. And also how friendly and warm he sounds when he speaks and writes. His famous speech habits like ‘now’ for example. In general I’ve often wondered about why his personality is sometimes occasionally misconstrued by some international ARMY, especially those who only casually follow BTS and don’t have any knowledge of Korean, whereas Korean ARMY think of him as ‘Gomdori’ like a gentle teddy bear and always emphasise his pure and innocent nature as well as his sentimentality and his free spirit. His witty sense of humour is also a feature that I love. I personally think it is linked to a lot of his cuteness being lost in translation. Especially with how much gets missed out in the nuances of subtitling and captions that are sometimes inaccurately translated. There are some famous examples of his word choice (where he used words often used by children instead but of course the translation does not distinguish between that) There is a also a famous saying with k-army that ‘his attack is zero and his defence is zero’ which comes across the more content you watch. Would absolutely love love to see more analysis on the members and in this case Tae’s Korean too, especially more on TaeTae language (it’s so endearing) as well as perhaps a look at his short but eloquent and heartwarming sentiments expressed in his letters to army or some of his interview answers. In regards to TaeTae language, to the members, company editors and fans it’s super sweet and appealing and one of his many charm points. Tae’s explained it as him ‘not being able to speak well’ though which made me a bit sad. It doesn’t happen as often as he’s worked very hard a on it though, which is why I believe he prefers shorter sentences and speaks much slower with pauses and filler words etc. (Sadly he used to get teased for not being able to speak in standard dialect when he was younger and also for his speech in the early days just after debut) I’ve noticed that some environments create more frequent certain types of TaeTae language moments. For example, interviews, award ceremonies and press conferences. Environments where Tae is nervous and under pressure, makes him more prone to what I would describe as stickiness (like stuttering or word repetition for example) or mix-ups in word choice or mistakes. Which then in turn make him shy and self-conscious of his speech and result in his quietness. But I’ve noticed it happens normally too… when his brain is too fast for his mouth. In general he has a lot of intelligence and creative outside the box thinking and I sometimes wonder if it’s just his brain being wired differently. I also find it sweet and amusing that the other members fluctuate between super endeared and amused to somewhat flustered and a tad cautious, depending where it happens. They and we are never sure where Tae is going with a topic. I’ve also discovered that a lot of time Tae can be much more easily understood when his mind goes from sentence to sentence, if there is familiarity with the immediate context and wider circumstances of the topic he’s talking about. Which is why I think the members can often step in for him so well. (Although sometimes they are caught out too.) The Busan concert live for example, Where he said they had events prepared and then he talked about his weverse comment. To give some context the boys had planned as part of their performance to come down the main stage, to the thrust stage with the audience closer. And to also travel in a truck as part of the performance but because of safety measure’s implemented on the day of the concert due to massive safety concerns of a crush, that couldn’t happen. Just before the concert Tae had gone onto weverse to remind ARMY to be safe while standing and to not push etc. once you know that what he meant as he spoke becomes so much easier. Thanks for your well researched series. P.s Hobi has absolutely had an influence on the members speech habits (you will find it appearing occasionally with other members too) as JK said in an interview… at the centre of all the members you will find J-hope. Hobi himself said that he raised the Maknae line.
OMG thank you so much for this long comment. I’ve been utterly fascinated and curious about Taehyung‘s unique way of speaking since the very beginning of stanning. I definitely agree that he is a divergent thinker and speaker. It’s part of his art and artistic nature and his brilliance. I would love to hear more of your insights into what happens between him and the guys. And I definitely would love more analysis video about Taetae language.
@@dysmissme7343 it’s a Korean saying to do with gaming. As in he doesn’t attack or defend. Basically means that he’s very gentle, sweet, innocent and docile. There was a viral thread on k-community board that explained it well with clips. Famous examples include Tae crouching on a dirt ground to blow out a dandelion instead of picking it, as picking it would damage the plant. Or when members were leaning on his t-shirt trapping him accidentally as he tried to move but he quietly stays put and doesn’t complain. Or he gets splashed with water in the face but he doesn’t react angrily and just giggles. Or when he got scared in virtual gaming but he didn’t take the headset off so he was crouching in fear trying to cover his eyes. There’s lots of sweet examples like that. I will try and look for the link with the examples. It’s very wholesome. 💜
Tae is a fan of jazz and it is weird but I think that shows in his language. Tae Tae language is reminiscent of improv in jazz or scatting. Like Billy says, its that go with the flow thing, but for V the flow is a jazz rhythm
@@kristin123a Oh I see I didn't express that quite right. I didn't mean that jazz was weird (or tae for that matter!) I meant that it might be a little weird for me to compare his use of language to jazz

Most of the people who tends to misunderstand about Taehyung dialect, should definitely watch this video. Taehyung is the most polite and down to earth idol i have ever witnessed 💜 Thank you for this beautiful video
I've always had the sense that his words don't always filter through his brain before saying them (not a bad thing). Like, have a thought/answer and out it goes without any stops along the way. It doesn't go through the filter of structure or "oh maybe that's the wrong word." It's more stream of consciousness, I guess? I kind of love him for it, to be honest. It fits him.
This was such a fun episode! I really like the way you talk about their different habits and styles of speech in a very non-judgemental way, while still managing to make it educational. Taehyung's incomplete sentences and unique phrasings might not be technically 'correct' but they're charming and expressive! I know someone who speaks a little like this in English and it's always interesting to get a different perspective on things through the way they talk. It may be harder for a beginner like me to understand TaeTae Language, but reading translators explain how they decoded his speech can actually be quite an educational experience, as they contrast the way he splits up and conjugates words compared to the 'correct' version. Somehow it helps you see the structure of the language in a more 3-dimensional way when you can compare standard and non-standard ways of speaking.
Pls make part 2 of this. Been waiting for this really. Tae is my bias and honestly what I really love about him (aside from his, dancing and singing skills) is how soft spoken he is, I don't understand korean but his voice is just like music to my ears because of how soft it sounds. I can listen to his voice everyday hahaha ❤
i like how go billy says he's not perfect at korean since he's not native, and yet BTS and other kpop groups show that even if you're a native speaker your korean is not "Perfect" an excellent examples of this is shown in RUN BTS episodes 62-63, & 154-155 which have the word games that the members either take a long time to figure out or miss and the staff tells them the answer XDXD EDIT: I love how I wrote this at the start and now at the end billy is showing my point with mentioning V's adorable tae tae language switch a roos with words XDXDXDXD

I get the feeling “Taetae language” is what in spanish we call "cantinfleo" (for context look up "Cantinflas", he was an actor.) "CANTINFLEAR" Basically means: to speak a lot without saying anything; Or To explain something both verbose and fluently to ultimately NOT clarify anything in the end. 👍😄 I loved this and am glad the algorithm brought me here.
I wish I was fluent enough in Korean to understand Taetae language 🥺 I love how his unique way of thinking influences his speech. And his laid back personality too! He's so adorable. Borahae, Taetae 💜
I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. Our translators have said that Tae sometimes speaks Tae Tae language but I’ve never heard an in depth explanation about it before like this. It makes Tae even that more endearing! Thank you!
I love American dialects and manner of speaking so this is so much fun learning Korea's. I am in deep south, so I understand using polite speech as we do that here. Remember if you do come down to the south we use Ma'am and Sir for anyone older than you, in a higher position at work, or providing a service
i relate a lot with the speech of V in my own language. sometimes i also need a translator. the way I think it’s more connected to how i feel, that sometimes blur the judgement. i splur and babble some words out of my mind AND THEN I think
Thank you for this series! I’m enjoying it a lot! 😍 It’s so interesting to learn the differences in their speech. I can see how Taehyung’s (and each of of them, really) personality/thinking is reflected in how he talks. I’d love to see more on TaeTae language since V is my bias.
It would be great if you could do another video on Taetae language, since it's really had to catch it and its nuances when you can't speak Korean fluently. After years of being a fan and studing Korean to intermediate level I still can't fully understand it most of the time. I just catch the general drift.
Been looking forward to this episode. I’m glad you talked about his sometimes unusual word choices. I personally think that’s a very charming aspect of his personality, and it makes me wish I knew Korean so I could appreciate it more.
this is one of the best korean-language series i’ve ever seen! 💜 so entertaining, yet informative. please make more content like this even after finishing Jungkook’s episode! i’d love to see an analysis of TXT members’ korean 👀
His Taetae language is my favorite 💜 There's a Bangtan Bomb where the members surprised Jin with a cake for his birthday and Tae, all excited in the background, mixes up his words and says "Hyung, your birthday! Your birthday!" instead of "Hyung, your wish!" 🤣
Please I would love it if you did a whole episode on Taetae language. There's a famous clip among Armys where he is asked what he would have done if not in BTS and he answers "saxophonist" except (I do not speak Korean) it sounds like something sex related. RM immediately corrects him and asks him to pronounce it correctly, V then says something like "wood whistler" which makes it worse. Hilarity ensues. But what I am wondering re V is this: is his (mis)prononciations an effect of his dialect, his TaeTae language or something else entirely? I always wondered what it was, so if you could clear that up that would be great, thanks. And this BTS series is great.
Agree with your comment, just want to say when he said "saxophonist", it's not because of sounding like something else in Korean, but because of his English pronunciation and the Korean habit of adding a "eu" sound at the end of English words ending in a consonant, it sounded like he said "S'xy p*rnstar" 🤣so another English word. Rest of the comment stands 🙂
Thank you so much Billy! I’m studying Korean ( with your material as well) and love this series of real life colloquial Korean about my 7 favourite guys. Bonus: such a fun way to review + learn new details I don’t get in formal course material 💜
Of course we'd all love a whole tae tae language video. My favorite clip of ALL TIME is when they were guests on I-Land. They're supposed to be offering the contestants advice and he goes off on a tangent about how he got scolded as a trainee when putting salt on his chicken breast. Eventually Namjoon just gives up and takes the mic from him. I cry laughing every time.
Youve finally analyzed my favorite member and I am beyond thankful and enamored with this information. When you talk about suggesting the next thing, I want you to do this with the TXT members also! Taehyun is my favorite member there. Yes I love both of the Taes lol! I love BTS and TXT equally and really really would love to see and learn so much again from watching these. Its actually improved my Korean understanding so very much more than I imagined it could. I think this type of learning is surpisingly suitable if not just wildly entertaining. There was so many little in between words that Koreans use all the time that I always hear but didnt understand until now.

Rm too. Even jimin asks rm to translate taetae language
His TaeTae language is so cute. I love, love, love his speaking voice so much. His voice is really deep but is really soft at the same time. His speech is beautiful and unique just like him.
I love how I don't know any korean at all but I stayed here to watch the full video from the beginning to the very end
I swear Tae is the cutest! And I love very much the way he speaks it’s just comforting and he always radiates calmness and tenderness.
V is very polite and gentle soul. You can just feel the warmth when he communicates.
Yes yes yes
Too much Run BTS also for me, and when I tried my Korean on a native speaker, she told me I spoke like a very young Guy 😅
@@aer2195 sounds like a compliment to me 😊
i’ve been waiting for this one. taehyung’s unique character was one of the things that drew me in from “i think bts is cool” to “i think i need to know everything about them”
Wow, I've only watched a little bit, but I can see how many people who have met him would find him charming.
Aye 💜
I’m embarrassed that I didn’t know his language was that different. I thought the humor about TaeTae were just his change in voice annd intonation and a little baby talk. I have been missing the point entirely. Thank you for the translated examples
Does anyone remember Tae talking about hair dye? He called it colour changing soup. So cute.
It was suit but he couldn’t pronounce it
His charm never fails to impress ppl
There are some famous examples of his word choice (where he used words often used by children instead but of course the translation does not distinguish between that)
There is a also a famous saying with k-army that ‘his attack is zero and his defence is zero’ which comes across the more content you watch. (Sadly he used to get teased for not being able to speak in standard dialect when he was younger and also for his speech in the early days just after debut)
I’ve noticed that some environments create more frequent certain types of TaeTae language moments. (Although sometimes they are caught out too.)
The Busan concert live for example, Where he said they had events prepared and then he talked about his weverse comment.
What is meant by the saying “his attack is zero and his defense is zero”?
I haven’t heard it before 🙂
@@dysmissme7343 it’s a Korean saying to do with gaming. 💜
I love all this comments about Tae. It makes me live him even more
Please please make a video of just Tae Tae language! It's incredible how his mind works
Well TAETAE language is the supremacy!!!
Tae is a fan of jazz and it is weird but I think that shows in his language. Tae Tae language is reminiscent of improv in jazz or scatting. Like Billy says, its that go with the flow thing, but for V the flow is a jazz rhythm
Wow this is a really great observation!
Jazz isn't really weird. It's highly technical and complex.
@@kristin123a Oh I see I didn't express that quite right. I didn't mean that jazz was weird (or tae for that matter!) I meant that it might be a little weird for me to compare his use of language to jazz
I understood you! But I think people get very sensitive with the word weird used with Taehyung because we know it has been used against him. But I think you were clear!
@@BA-gb3ol thanks!
I would love to see more TaeTae language!!! there is no such thing as enough of Taehyung lol
yesss!! more Taetae language plssss! I wish ARMYs knew about this video
I love V. He's so clever and charming.
Please do more TaeTae Language lesson, although I am not Korean nor do I speak Korean I truly enjoy the culture, especially the laughs I get watching anything Kim Taehyung.
Originally this video was going to be even longer. There was just so much Taetae content.
Please more TaeTae language😂 I was enjoying the whole time that I was shocked when it ended😂
Most of the people who tends to misunderstand about Taehyung dialect, should definitely watch this video.
Taehyung is the most polite and down to earth idol i have ever witnessed 💜
Thank you for this beautiful video
Yes please, Taetae Language is welcome & highly anticipated. Thank you
I've always had the sense that his words don't always filter through his brain before saying them (not a bad thing).
AGAIN! Need a compilation of TaeTae language... it's one of his many charms 💜
because V Kim Taehyung is really naturally polite and humble
I can' t help but smile... We may not speak the language but no matter who you are and where you're from our struggles can be universal! 💜💜💜💜
I was particularly looking forward to this one because the members have joked that he's still learning Korean and he's got a unique way to speaking.
i like how go billy says he's not perfect at korean since he's not native, and yet BTS and other kpop groups show that even if you're a native speaker your korean is not "Perfect" an excellent examples of this is shown in RUN BTS episodes 62-63, & 154-155 which have the word games that the members either take a long time to figure out or miss and the staff tells them the answer XDXD
EDIT: I love how I wrote this at the start and now at the end billy is showing my point with mentioning V's adorable tae tae language switch a roos with words XDXDXDXD
Thank you for another insightful video! Would love a further deep-dive into 태태어, it's so fascinating to see how Taehyung in particular speaks Korean and I'd love to hear more of your observations :) 건강 항상 하자 ㅋㅋㅋ
Plzzzz we want full video on taetae language 💜💜💜
I know Tae really likes to say "Ije" "yakkan", coz hobi mentioned it that Tae always say that 🥰 from then on I always noticed it too. 😁
I'm excited for jungkook's one, it's gonna be him either being really soft or dragging the members by their first name lmao
I get the feeling “Taetae language” is what in spanish we call "cantinfleo" (for context look up "Cantinflas", he was an actor.)
"CANTINFLEAR" Basically means: to speak a lot without saying anything; Or To explain something both verbose and fluently to ultimately NOT clarify anything in the end.
👍😄 I loved this and am glad the algorithm brought me here.
There can never be enough TaeTae!!😂
I love Taehyung so much that sometimes I can't believe it❤
I love Taehyung's speaking voice, deep but soft 💜
I could watch hours of Taetae language analysis!
Please make a Taetae language sequel🙏🏻 Thank you so much for making this series, I love it💜
I wish I was fluent enough in Korean to understand Taetae language 🥺
I love how his unique way of thinking influences his speech. And his laid back personality too! He's so adorable. Borahae, Taetae 💜
In awe of how resourceful he is with the bts content, knowing how to find which clip for illustrating his point!!! Bravo 👏
I would love to see a whole video on Tae Tae language!
I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. Our translators have said that Tae sometimes speaks Tae Tae language but I’ve never heard an in depth explanation about it before like this. It makes Tae even that more endearing! Thank you!
i would die for more tatetae language analysis
Love this whole BTS series!!! Tae is my bias. I enjoyed this episode lot!
I would love a full episode on TaeTae language. 😍
Thank you for this video and explaining taetae language , V‘s dialect and formal speech. I‘m also a fan of his deep and soft voice.
More Taetae language please! 😊
Great video! I loved to hear your opnion about his TaeTae Language and he really has a nice , soft voice. But Tae is a baritone and not a bass
More, more Taetae language please.
I’d love a video dedicated to Taetae! He is my bias and I love him so much 🥰 I’m looking forward to the maknae video 😁😁
Very interesting video! Actually, Taehyung is a baritone with great range. 💜
💜 BTS is why I found GoBilly. Thank you for your lessons. I can now read their names on Run BTS scoreboards.
Would like a tete language episode so much!!! This is so cute
Oh PLEASE make the Tae-Tae language video 🥹🥹
Marry a guy that looks at you as Billy looks at Taehyung
Please Taetae language part 2 💜
Very intesting video 😁👌 Now I understand whats the uniqueness in tataes language 🖤really like it !!
I love this series! It‘s so much fun to learn more about how the members speak. I would LOVE a follow-up video all about Tae Tae language!😆
Please do a longer tae tae language video. I have enjoyed all the videos you have done about BTS.
I believe he tried to first say "saxophonist star" and then reiterated to "wood wind instruments"
ARMY…V stans…I am assuming you have a mission: to chant, “we want a TaeTae language video!”
Thank you so much Billy! I’m studying Korean ( with your material as well) and love this series of real life colloquial Korean about my 7 favourite guys. Bonus: such a fun way to review + learn new details I don’t get in formal course material 💜
I think you got this right on for V. He makes me laugh a lot! Thank you!
Its so interesting taetae language n everything pls do more videos about taehyung
This is quality content!! Thank you for helping me understand TaeTae 🤭
Taehyung is cute and unique❄❄❄ 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I saw taetae language and I didn't even watch this yet, I knew it was going to be good
I love this video so much! would love to see another video further exploring taetae language :)
That was so fun! Thank you! Taehyung is such a unique and out-of-the-box person - it does not surprise me that he has his own special way of speaking. Great video! I am really enjoying this BTS series of yours.
Thank you so much for this series billy, it’s so so so amazing. I was so looking forward to understanding 태태어 with this episode!
Thank uuu 태태어 is one of the things that made me want to start learning Korean so I’m glad u spoke ab it I love this series sm
