Flowmasters on a Foxbody......nothing beats that still have mine on from about 30 years ago.
Flowmasters are only mufflers I’ll run on my fox’s - nothing beats the sound. They’re the super classic muffler fit for these cars!
Classis for sure! BUt thats why we are doing this series for all those mufflers folks like
You can't beat the sound 100%. But unfortunately once you want to make big power they become a restriction point. Sucks, but flow through makes more power, they just don't sound as good 9 times out of 10.
Mac long tubes into a pro-gamer into flow paths is the best exhaust setup for a fox and everybody knows that
@pimpovic2 so true, I had to retune from idle to 4000rpm by 10% more fuel, that's how much straight through flows compared to single chambers, never mind 2 chambers
Way to freaking cool, to be honest you have to go with the iconic sound of the flowmasters. Having flowmasters
on my my 92 back in the 90's flowmasters were a must have. Nothing sounds like them when you nail it and
they just open up. Sweet!

Mac sound good but the flowmasters are hard to beat.

I've always liked the Flowmaster mufflers on a 5.0
The Mac pro chamber H pipe and pro chamber mufflers sound better than anything !

I've heard a couple really nice Bassani exhausts over the years.
I had a mac pro chamber h pipe and mac catback on my car in the late 90's and 2000's. Loved the sound of those much better than flowmaster.
Late '90s I had a carbed B cam 302 with 2 chamber flows. Sounded so good!
My dads street rod has a 427 (chevy based) with 3" 3 chamber flowmasters. He's bulding a '55 F100 with a 408 Windsor using Fox exhaust. BBK headers, h-pipe and modified flowmaster tails. Super 44s maybe? We like what we like I guess😂

I just put a set of 3.5 inch flowmasters on my ranger and it sounds good. Only down fall was the price of each muffler.
Flowmasters on a NA fox just sound right. I have Dynomax UltraFlos on mine, but it's also a turbo car, and I'd say that's a good combo.

I like the Mac’s. Everyone has flowmasters. Great sound from both but the Mac’s will make you stand out.
This car is the most interesting to me cause it's budget.
Everything sounds good on a Ford pushrod, but I love Flowmasters! Even have them on my 283 57 Chevy. Not as good as my Fox, but they sound pretty good.

Our shop builds custom mandrel exhaust.
We have quite a few customers come in just to
throw their flowmasters away.
Just a muffler change adds significant power.
Mandrel pipe AND good mufflers makes a serious power difference.
We throw the nearly new flowmasters in the scrap pile.

Edit: one 440 mopar dropped 30 hp on the chassis dyno with Flows compared to straight through Magnaflow/ Dynamax. Power is important too.
I'm actually running 2.5in H pipe into 2.5in Flowmasters with Flowmaster 2.5in tailpipes

Had, a Cobra a few years ago, with 410 gears. Had, the Macks on it. Those 32 valves, sounded amazing!

Back in the early 2000's I had a '90 5.0 GT with MAC Long tubes, Pro-chamber and flowmaster 40's that had dumps. Good Night that things would talk to you!!
Now I'm back into and got a '92 5.0 GT and on the look out for another MAC exhaust system and hopefully this time I will also find some MAC mufflers.

2 90° bends on each end of the slp's worked for me on my sn95 with 3in' foxbody Flowmaster tail pipes

Even though flowmasters get hate these days I'm still a fan. I ran them on my fox for 20 years. I did switch to mac dumps for a while. Now with my 363 set up with 3 inch exhaust I went with those jones flowmaster knock offs, which sounded good but I wanted it louder so I went with dynomax 11" bullets and they sound really mean. I do still run flowmaster 44s on my 03 mach 1. It had slp loud mouths when I bought it but I don't like my car sounding like a straight piped f150 😂

Thank you for doing this. Always appreciate your hard work (which is getting hard for me at my age). I have always loved flowmasters on these cars, but as others have said these motors sound good with a wide variety of setups.

I had mac 2.5 on mine. Rusted out, still not sure what im replacing them with. Maybe flows but not sure
It's hard to choose, I love both!! Do you remember the old Hooker Aero chambers?? I always thought they had an awesome sound with an X pipe. At high rpm they kinda had an formula 1 sound lol!! Thanks for the videos!!!
I'd take Mac any day. Bought them for my 94 when I bought it in 2019. Flowmaster is alright but everyone has them. SLPs sound like crap on 5.0s. They sound sloppy is the best way I can describe it.
Ya we found the SLP's in a pile of parts. Wont cost much if anything to hear them.

I have 2 Mac exhaust setups. A 2.5 Mac catback on my 2001 Mustang Bullitt and a spare 2.5 Mac pro dump setup set back for a rainy day..
Strangely enough.. I don't really like the sound of chambered mufflers on mod motors but here we are... LOL
Also SLP are a no from me dawg. LM1s sound like extremely loud floppy ass or a jake braking semi truck

Ok....I scientifically deduced the difference between the Mac & the Flowmaster. The Mac has higher frequency harmonics that only women and men with less testosterone can appreciate! Men hear lower frequencies best because of high testosterone levels. Therefore the high frequency harmonics of the Mac mufflers are more irritating to men! 😅
Do the new 40 series flowmasters sound the same as the ones they sold in the 90's?
I don’t know. Probably I’d imagine but we don’t really know. I’d have to buy a set and try them
Are you seeing any HP loss with the Flowmasters?
Neither......Dynomax ultra Flo Welded....and quite actually (street use) until you put the hammer down and then it screams, not to bassy, not to tinny....crisp covers it, nothing like it......went to them around 2008 for track use and they performed amazingly.
