- Movie legend Charlton Heston gives late ABC presenter Peter Jennings his last interview. His wife Lydia is by his side. Heston, who was also the star of TV's "The Colbys," passed away in April 2008.
I watched this about 5 years ago....I remember being very impressed by the way he dealt with his illness...now I am ill myself, not with dementia but what I have is incurable and I am very tired...I try to deal with this the way he did and hope to remain dignified to the end...rest in perfect peace Charlton, you were truly amazing and thank you for showing me the way....
Hold fast midnightblue,3226, your comment was stoically perfect and Mr. Heston would surely have thanked you, and certainly wished much dignity as you face twilight's coming days. My very best to you, from Australia
My prayers to you, friend. God comfort you, assuring you of eternal reward with Him.
May God bless you Midnight Blue, you are in my prayers.
God bless you my friend.
May God be with you
Charlton Heston was one of the most talented actors that ever walked this Earth !
I met him in 1965 when he came to Detroit for the world premiere of “The War Lord” . He was everything I expected. Lager than life, gracious and charismatic.
Liar.
As tough as it was to watch this interview with one of my movie heroes, He showed so much dignity and a deep love and appreciation for his wife through all their years together. Gone but never forgotten 🙏
Charlton Heston walked into a scene and - merely by his presence...stole the attention from every actor in the scene. He was an amazing role model...a family man, married to the same woman for 50 + years and a truly gifted actor.
N R A ... that is his legacy in spite of everything he did .
Ruth Nagarya Judah Ben Hur, I think his greatest. Fantastic, performance.

He was a very lucky man to have such a loving and caring wife, and to be with her that long wow
It's not luck. It's how both treat each other.
My wife was once like that...
Yep !
Just like Michael J. Fox's wife and Christopher Reeve's wife.
No such thing as luck-has this life not taught U anything?!
It takes the 2 individuals working & loving & loving & working together daily-to have a successful marriage-otherwise, all ya got is 1 side and well, we all know how that works out -IT DOESN’T!!!
His voice is so powerful! So elegant, this man is amazing 🙏🏾
He put guns before children, yeah he was a ffffing ripper 🖕
Message from Scotland-Charlton Heston will forever be an American Icon. Major loss to cinema. Gone but not forgotten. His Goodbye speech was wonderfully eloquent, courageous and moving.
"I can part the Red Sea, but i cannot part with you"
Yes!!! That's my idol! One of the greatest film actors of all time! You"re the man Sir Charlton Heston!
None like him to be found today. Lovely couple. Dignified. Worthy of emulation and respect.
Had the honor to meet Mr. Heston. One of the most memorable moments of my life. A true patriot!
Despite his tough and imposing demeanor, he was kind, humble and gentle and amazing!
I envy you sir, i'd have loved to have had a beer with Mr. Heston, just to have told him that i would watch his movies with Granddad when i was a kid.
I bet!!
Your lucky so jealous 😜

A man of morals, ethics, class, patriotism, integrity, loyalty, and a great actor. Everything modern actors don't have.
Well said.
You are a gun loving moron.
You are absolutly Right!
👏👏👏💪🥰
@Sam Cash - Like WHICH modern actors were you referring to anyway? After all, Charlton Heston was not the only one that had such a description you made him out to be.
Should have run for president
Be an actor in real life like the other
Ones did!
Strong in life and strong in death....God bless you Mr. Heston...
Hello how're you doing?
Old, tired...worn out. Saw Charlton in ‘68 for first time in Planet of the Apes movie. I was 10. He was Hollywood. Time can be so unforgiving and in my mind, even cruel. Now I’m the one whose tired and worn out. Much respect for he and his wife of so many years.

A great, great man! Class, high moral standards, integrity and patriotism defined his life! RIP Sir Heston!
We will never forget, there are few who can fill his shoes. His legend lives on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,FOREVER !!!
To see someone like Charlton Heston say "I couldn't be me without her...you were the centre of my life"....I should no longer feel guilty or inferior about having similar feelings previously for someone that was once in my life
Of course not. I think is gorgeous when a man says that about a woman.
I Agree
How I wish for that.

A very classy actor. Not something you can say about most actors today.

Most "actors" today are overly entitled elitist garbage. Heston was not like that. America misses a wonderful man like him.
He could drive his own stunts also.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Heston and received an autographed copy of Ben Hur a year or two before his Alzheimer's diagnosis. He recited a long passage from one of his stage parts and those of us in the room sat in awe. listening. He was a true gentleman, and I recall being shocked to see this larger than life figure stooped over a cane from arthritis as he shuffled out of the room after the interview. I stopped watching the Oscar telecast the year after he passed. I was watching the "In Memorium" portion and was disgusted that most of the audience sat on their hands, rather than applaud him when Mr. Heston's photo was displayed. Before joining the NRA, Heston was a fearless champion for equality in the early 60's and fought for civil rights. He was a good and decent man.
