I met him in Brooklyn when he came to sign one of his books, I was so awed! he was so kind and such a gentleman. I loved all his movies.
I managed a limousine company in Chicago back in the day and Charlton and his family were clients of ours and used to drive him between his home in Evanston and O'Hare airport and I can say wholeheartedly this was one of the purest, good human beings I ever met. An absolutely gracious person.
DID HE RIDE IN LINCOLN TOWN CARS? THE BEST LIMOS.
@@captainamericaamerica8090 actually from what I remember, I saw him in a limousine once. The times I drove him was in a passenger van because he had family with and luggage
Thanks for sharing that !

I love how he acknowledges and looks at Ed all the time. It always disturbed me how some guests never even look at Ed. It says a lot about Mr Heston. Classy and humble, a true gentleman.
He was one of a kind.
I could listen to charlton Heston all day, very down to earth and humble, he was a brilliant actor, he didn’t deserve the flack some people threw at him in later years
Those who don't respect the Bill of Rights tried to smear him.
I completely agree
@@DarthSasquatch Sigh
No one is trying to take away guns. All civilized countries have gun regulations and people still own guns.
Heston was one of those who made up a problem and then got mad about it. He was someone who became a Conservative and then decided to immerse himself in that role. He even allowed himself to be photographed with a white supremist. The Liberal Heston would not have stopped so low. But this is the same Charlton Heston who once said that the government should have the right to be draconian when it feels like it.
Most Americans support gun regulation anyway even gun owners.
Yeah.
Let's just say it. That Flack from radical LEFTIST. I have no respect for them.
A fine actor with a commanding presence, and authoritative voice as well as a great human being! A man of conviction and integrity!
I met Mr. Heston when he was in his 80’s I was a young police officer when he came to Gwinnett county airport to a NRA meeting supporting a candidate for public office. He stepped out of his vehicle and he was tiny and I must have had a shocked look on my face because he laughed and put his hand on my shoulder and said something like “I know son I used to be a lot taller” and we both laughed and he shook my hand thanked me for my service. He had two former USSS agents both very tall and capable looking. They escorted him inside and stayed with him or very close by. What a kind and gracious man he was.
Chico....great story, but hardly in his 80's? At that age he was sick with alzheimers and died at 84. I met Mr. Heston at a Ralph's store in Studio City i 1999, and he was pretty tall at 76, I am 6'1 and he was at least 6'2 then (6'3 peak)....but I could see that he had some health issues already then..
@@gerthenriksen8818 He was 6'4" in his prime. Loved Charley, RIP.
The one and only Moses and Ben-Hur. The best actor of his Era. 👌🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻💞😘

Well dressed, articulate, polite people. I miss this era so much.
I've got (t)his Jacket :-)
Well dressed? I've seen Johnny wear some awful checkered polyester leasure suits. It was a grim time in men's fashion!
Love that corduroy jacket!
I agree with everything except the fashion. Of course these were adults who came of age much earlier. The young people of the 1960-70s were the ones who degraded our culture to what it is now with pushing no fault divorce, causal sex, pushing to legalize recreational drugs, making holding the mentally ill against their will illegal so they end up on the streets etc.
@@christianloepfe179 Really? Is that the same jacket he wore in "Earthquake"?
Charlton Heston has had some of the best if not THE best movie lines in movie history! *This is a mad house, a mad houuuse!* and *Soylent Green is people* . Love him! :)
This guy was such a man's man to his very core, and one of the greatest actors of all time.
I love Charlton Heston's Great Big Smile. It's just beautiful !!!
Wow... what a nice guy!! No ego to speak of. Just a really down-to-earth decent man AND a very talented actor as well.
Beautiful man...legendary....miss him❤️
Classy and humble. So unlike Hollywood trash today.
What a gentleman they don’t make them like that anymore.
What, like wimpy actors who are afraid of their own shadows...?
Charlton Heston is so charming and old school fine, love him!
He was also great in the omega man
AWESOME MOVIE !!!!!
Oh how I miss these giants! I loved to watch Mr. Heston in his films and Carson always cracked me up! Although his show was waaaaayyyy past my bedtime.
Carson HAD TALENT! Heston, NOT!
His biblical films were awesome. He was gorgeous
MARLIN BRANDO WAS THE BEST.🐯🐯🐯👑👑👑
@@captainamericaamerica8090 that's your opinion, I do love Brando but I don't know why you're making this comment here. Could Brando play better the part of Moses or Judah Ben Hur or historical roles ? I don't think so, we can't compare Heston and Brando.
Ben-Hur is IMHO the greatest movie ever made.
Heston gorgeous? I dunno, he looks pretty crusty to me. You look gorgeous, though.

Beautiful man ❤️
My mom thinks so too ✌
Heston comes across as a decent man....no big ego.
Except for his love of guns
@@January. that's why I loved him.
I suppose some will say i'm out of line here . . . but clearly we have several different definitions of "EGO." What peter feltham means is no big arrogance. Mr.Heston comes across as just an average guy. But spiritually and psychologically all humans have oversize egos . . . no exceptions. Ya need to listen to Rupert Spira, Eckhart Tolle, Carl Jung, Alan Watts, and other mind experts to know what the fcuk i'm squawkin' 'bout. Just sayin' . . . take it or leave it. BTW thanks for posting,
An articulate, intelligent gentleman.
He had a VERY big Ego regarding his Profession and Believings. As a private man he was very humble. He comes from a different, better Time, when someone was not judged by his meanings, rather as a whole Human Being.
Boy, do we need MEN like him now!
Yeah.
i "believe" this!
He was great friends ALI
What a mighty fine man, actor & human being.♥️
I also miss Johnny Carson!!! the best in night shows. no one could compare to him
Awww I could watch Charlton for hours what a lovely person ❤️
Amazing gentleman, Heston. Wow, this is almost half a century old.
What’s really scary -- is I remember watching this decades ago -- when that Airport movie was coming out. I’m almost out of here.

I totally agree! Heston was the greatest actor-bar NONE-to ever grace the silver screen!
Blame the academy for that , I wholeheartedly agree with you on that subject 👍
Alcohol and drugs work WONDERS!
One classy, handsome, kind gentleman!! Only he could play Moses, fantastic!! RIP Sir ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Moses, Michelangelo, George Gordon, Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar (El Cid), Marc Anthony and Andrew Jackson. You name it, he could play it. A great actor and a humble man.

He and James Stewart are my favorites and I learned that they were good friends.

Two genuine Hollywood icons. R.I.P....

One of the all time greats
I loved how Carson treated his guests intelligently unlike these jackasses of today which have to talk all over their guests and laugh and laugh and laugh at everything they say.
Had the opportunity to meet Mr. Heston at a book signing. One of my life's most memorable experiences.
I truly miss this era…..a time that will NEVER be again! A much simpler time…

And the 'Greatest Show on Earth'
Major dundeee! The best
When on TV do you see MEN talking like MEN anymore with these effeminate hosts that are silly...Carson was a man!
I thought Carson was kind of a whimp when I saw him on tv as a kid in the 80s but these days he seems very masculine compared to the Nancy boys they have on tv today.
The Omega Man looking very fit.
I love this interview with Charlton Heston with Johnny Carson! And Ed McMahon of course! Yes, he seem like a real gentleman and with a great personality! I never order don’t remember him really in an interview… Well, maybe once or twice, but it’s been a long time!

Steven Spielberg had Heston suggested to him for the role of Quint in Jaws. He said Charlton Heston would have scared the shark out of the water. Heston was great. A one-of-a-kind actor who could play it large without falling into overacting. It takes skill to walk that line.
Gorgeous man that he was.
I love you sir both of you
He was brilliant in the Omega man, somebody made a remake not a patch on the original.
To think how Michael Moore trashed this man. Not a good epitaph. Fools never learn.

So gracious, a class act.
So gracious towards Karen Black. (His character in A75 was, even then, so sexist, really, but in real life Heston was obviously not that way. Too many people blurred his screen persona with his actual one, regardless of his stance on guns.) Like others here have said, he was a MAN. We miss that sort of cinematic persona now. At least I do.
Great man. One of the greatest actors...
Happy birthday buddy. I hope you have a wonderful blessed birthday. Thank you so much for your performance in The Ten Commandments. And thank you for the many more contributions that I don't even know about yet. I hope you have a cool laid-back birthday in heaven. I'll look forward to meeting you one day. Thanks for the advice. I grew up watching Charlton Heston films; from “ the Greatest Show on Earth”, to “ Planet of the Apes “, to “ Soylent Green “. And of course, “ Ben Hur “ .

My favorite is major Dundee
Don't forget the ten commandments
I read somewhere that he was so good in "The Greatest Show on Earth" that someone commented that it was great that they had a real circus manager play that part!
The classiest man in hollywood.......
It's too bad Charlton Heston's german shepherds weren't around the day Micheal Moore visited him for a so called interview for Moore's movie Bowling for Columbine. I thought Moore took advantage of Heston's weak condition and was very disrespectful. If only man's best friend had been there that day, that part of the movie would have played out much differently.
Well, that happened decades later. I guess they were already dead then
Moore thought he could easily goad Heston into an angry tirade as well as somehow assign blame for a child's death to Dick Clark.
Instead the whole thing unraveled and fizzled out to a nothing of an ending.
Yes! The Moore, "interview " was a disgusting thing. But Charlton Heston was the grand man he always was. Annnndd Moore was the same pig he always was.
@@lindafox3619 I'm sure Heston in his prime would have shown Moore the door with his foot planted on Moore's backside.

Chuck and Clint Eastwood make that guest chair very small.
You can see the Joy of the Lord on his face.
I watch all those re runs of Carson just to keep me alive and humming "The way we were".
Let my people go.
I miss him
I didn't realize how massive Heston is, till now.
What a man 😍
I didn't normally watch Jay Leno but one night I had it on and he had a segment of Celebrity Twister at Graumann's Chinese Theater. A young couple had to play Twister using the cement blocks in the courtyard of Graumann's. It went like; Put your right hand on Steve McQueen. Left foot on Paul Newman. Right foot on Charlton Heston. As soon as they stepped on the Charlton Heston cement block, the real CH came running out at of the theater yelling at them to get off his footprints. It was hilarious. After all the laughter subsided, he was real nice to the couple, who were so young I'm not sure they knew who he was or if he was serious.
No actor can beat Charlton when it comes to acting. He is a very fine human being. As a very young girl, He was my very first crush as a young girl and ,funny, he is still my ideal man up till now! Nov. 2023.
Amazing
Charlton Heston was a gentleman and a decent human being
I would have guessed his "guard dogs" would have been named "Smith & Wesson"! Maybe those were inside the home?
In the late 1960s-early 1970s Heston became a sci fi star. Oddly five of his sci fi films had an apocalyptic theme. (Planet Of The Apes, Beneath The Planet Of The Apes, Tim Burton Planet Of The Apes, The Omega Man, Soylent Green-end of civilization type sci fi films).
he was great
