Over three decades’, I’d the great honour, & privilege of meeting Mr Charlton Heston, & his beautiful wife, Lydia, many times’. They were THE most ‘down to earth’ people I’ve ever met! Had many fantastic conversations’ with them. If you think that Mr Heston looks ‘huge’ on screen, you should’ve seen him in real life! He was 6’4” tall with very broad shoulders’. His voice had a wonderful bass pitch to it, which I could listen to all day. Never boring, his speeches’ at functions’ were most interesting. He was a very intelligent man. He died just three weeks’ after they’d celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary. Mrs Heston died in 2018, at 95. RIP

For years I had believed that a stuntman was killed during the filming of the chariot race. Having watched this interview, I went back and researched the subject and found out it was an urban legend and that no one was killed.
