- Take a tour with me through the midcentury modern home of actor Charlton Heston! Located in Coldwater Canyon, Heston built the home and resided there until his death in 2008.
Wow, really interesting! -- thank you. Heston was not only a gifted actor; he was a deeply thoughtful and literate person -- that magnificent library was _not_ just for show. The books he wrote provide a great window on his life and career.
I agree! Thank you so much for watching!
Charlton Heston was such a gorgeous man! Love how are you incorporated all the pines around the home
The home was really pretty amazing and the views were incredible. My video doesn’t do them justice. Thanks so much for watching!
That house is just stunning. I love that era for architecture..his furniture too was pretty funky. When I visit LA I’m only really interested in the older movie star houses. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching!
Beautiful house I wish I had one
I agree. I'm only interested in the Golden Era of Hollywood so these videos are of much interest to me. One of my favorites is Ava Gardner. She owned several homes from '47-mid 50's in the LA area. I'd love to see a tour of one of those homes if possible?
Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to get inside one of Ava Gardner’s former homes. If it ever happens, you can be assured that I will make a video about it! Thanks again for watching!
Please do a video on the late great Hattie McDaniels and the late great Dorothy Dandridge's home.
Wow, what a glorious mid century house. Thank you for posting it.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for another wonderful video on a movie star's home. Charlton Heston made a lot of great films, but my favorite remains "Soylent Green". I actually met him in SF back in the 70s when he was there doing the Mike Douglas Show at Aquatic Park. I met some of the show's production people by chance, they put me on "the list" and I met Mr. Heston, Deborah Kerr, Lou Rawls, and of course, Mike. Mr. Heston was kind and congratulated me when I told him I was a recent high school graduate. I've never forgotten his warm spirit. He is part of one of the best days in my life.
That is a fantastic story! How exciting for you! Heston came to my college in 1983, but I never met him - I only saw him speak. Thanks so much for the story and for watching the video!
@@CRF-ds7ie Thank you and please keep them coming. Your videos are such a pleasure to watch. I'm a new subscriber!
That’s awesome!! Thank you so much - I really appreciate it!! 😊
I really like his home. I liked a lot of his movies too. Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for watching!
Such a beautiful vintage house. If I had the money I would just boy the whole house and moved in.
Me, too! Thanks so much for watching!
Such a beautiful house and property! I truly hope whoever bought this will leave it intact for future generations to admire. Thank you for sharing this.
I truly hope the same! They’ve taken such good care of it up till now, and it would be a pity if they razed it. Such a fun history. Thanks for watching.!
When I was a student I saw him in a production of The Caine Mutiny (1985 in London’s West End) and his stage presence was palpable and that voice!!!! Wow. I later read his ‘actor’s life’ journals which covered the years from the late 50s to mid 70s and gave a fascinating insight into the World of this man ( he was so much more than a ‘movie star’). His journey from 60s liberal to conservative NRU poster boy was surprising to say the least but that just makes the trajectory of his life all the more interesting.
You are so right! He had such an interesting life. It must’ve been fascinating to see him on stage!! Thanks so much for watching my video!
@@CRF-ds7ie my pleasure. He used to describe in his journal how happy he was to return home to ‘My Ridge’ after long periods away shooting those epic films. I had no way of knowing what the house he loved so much looked like but, thanks to your film, now I do
Oh, I’m so glad! I really appreciate your nice words!
I agree with you entirely ( A British Fan Who saw Mr Heston in The Caine Mutiny in 1985 , A Man for all seasons, and Love Letters ))...Mr Heston was a man of the highest integrity.
I just loved him. He was my favorite actor.
He certainly was an amazing actor! Thank you so much for watching!
He was mine as well . He was marvellous ❤
I was only 10 and saw him in Ben Hur. That was it for me. I watched every movie and was enamored by his looks and his acting.
I so enjoy your vids of the stars homes..I hope you will do more...Thank You...
Thank you so much for watching, and I hope to do more!
Cool house!!
I know! Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for watching, Sonja!
Wow! Love the and grounds. If only I could..... I would love that home. Great Actor, Good man!

Just subscribed, wonderful video very nicely done ,I always think its so sad when the owners die ,they I believe leave a bit of themselves behind .ps please please could you not include a picture of your beautiful dog at the end of the video, she's just to cute to miss out 🤗🇬🇧
I will try to include her more often! Thanks for your kind comments!! She is a lovebug!!
So very interesting to this man of a certain age. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching!
@@CRF-ds7ie I live in Dana Point and years ago there was a fireworks show that was totally unexpected and it turned out it was an event at the Monarch Resort with Charlton Heston and I remember how cool it was just to know he was nearby I my neighborhood. I am still a huge fan.
Yes, he was an amazing actor, and deserved a fireworks display for his great performances!
Saw CH on stage at the Ahmanson..? A Man For All Seasons
I looked it up. It was gutted and abandoned, unfortunately, but was resold on Jan 2022. Let's hope the new owner preserves it. It was sold as a " development opportunity," which usually means a tear down. 😢 I'm praying that they preserve it. So sad. Such a beautiful home.
Oh, that is such sad news. It was such a unique home. Thanks so much for watching!
One of my favourite actors. Boy would I have loved to have been at that estate sale. Did you buy anything?
I did end up buying a painting and a robe! The robe belonged to his wife, and the painting was one that he owned, but it wasn’t painted by him.
It would have been so cool to go to that estate sale.
It was very cool! It was the first year that I moved to Los Angeles so it was quite exciting! I bought a painting and a robe that belonged to his wife! 😂Thanks so much for watching!
I really admired him and liked him in more modern movies. There was a airline movie especially I liked him in! Beautiful place. It's sad because I'm sure people will sell thing's on line!! I think it'd be horrible. Thank you for showing this. Very interesting. That library was really impressive!!!
Thank you so much for watching!
Lovely man. Fantastic impact. -Miss him.
An amazing actor, that’s for sure! Thanks so much for watching!
Thank YOU, Caren, for the *thoughtful reportage.@@CRF-ds7ie
He march with M L King
I was a little girl when my parents took our family to the Drive-in to see "The Ten Commandments". I was old enough to understand this was all acting, but still young enough to fall under the movie's "suspension of disbelief". Of course, I knew the Exodus/Passover story from Sunday School and Church, but Moses came alive for me. Heston's portrayal of Moses descending Mt. Sinai with the tablets only to be enraged by the wantonness in which the Israelites had immured themselves, matched what I had envisioned in my imagination, listening to the adults while sitting in those old oaken pews. I became a Heston fan at age 7.
That is a great story! Isn’t it amazing how much a film can influence us, especially when we’re younger? Thanks so much for watching!
I would buy this magnificent house in a heartbeat!!
Me too, if I could afford it! 😂 Thank you so much for watching!
In my grandparents things, theres a clipping from the LA Times around early 1970s about my grandpa. Theres also an interesting article about a botched kidnapping attempt of Heston's wife. Botched because the kidnappers went to the wrong house, which was identical.
Oh my gosh! I never knew that! That is fascinating. I’m glad they didn’t succeed! Thanks so much for watching!
Very Good ! Can you do a video about Musso & Frank the iconic restaurant on Hollywood Boulevard?
That’s a very good idea! I will keep that on my list and thank you for the suggestion. I’ve been there many times and absolutely love it. Thank you so much for watching the video!
nice very 60's
Thank you so much for watching!
“In my cold dead hands”…….
Yikes! thanks for watching!
He lived well.
He certainly did! Thanks so much for watching!
Sad 😢
Thank you for watching!
Lucky that it was never caught in a canyon fire.
So true! Thank you so much for watching!
Who owns this now?
I’m sorry to say I don’t know who owns it. But thank you so much for watching!
Too big to be a cosy home, but then he was in Ben Hur
😂😂
So sad he lost all his charisma and reputation with his support for the gun lobby . I really liked him but his very public views on guns ...turned me right off in the last years of his life
Yes, his incredible career kind of got lost amidst all of that. Thanks so much for watching!
Me too , but i have never let politics stand in the way of personal loyalty . he was a man of the highest integrity .....
