i have so much respect for these people my teacher has attatched this to my ppt and watched it and realised i think i know what i want to be in life, God has called me to be that person him and I want me to be you have encouraged me so much and pointed out all of the positives

I was raised by nuns being a catholic. I have so much love and respect for them. I would have been a nun if I didn't become an addict which im clean from. thanks to the love of the lord the showed me so long ago
It is not too late for you. There is nothing barring a recovering addict from being a nun.
You can still be a nun. If you want to be a nun, be a nun. You have strength of character, you've already proven that by getting yourself clean.

I pray for more vocation to the Camillian Sisters and Priests from the UK to care for the sick and the dying. A lot of exorcist priests also visit contemplative nuns for prayers.
I grew up Jewish-Agnostic and never really experienced Christianity, let alone Catholicism. I find these videos so fascinating. I would be so honored to talk to one of these brides of Christ to ask what he’s all about.
You also might want to talk to evangelical Christians that lay hands on the sick, pray for people in need and work as a team with their spouse. There are thousands of missionary husband/wife teams who travel the world spreading the good news of Jesus (gospel). They are missionaries in all countries. You don't have to take a vow of celibacy to work for God.
To be a nun. That is what my wish is. To serve God. My heavenly spouse.

As you have such an enclosed existence, what can / do you have to reflect on? (I ask respectfully)
I want this so so bad. I want to live in silence away from the world. as it is I only leave my house like once every two weeks or so and my boyfriend and his grandparents (who we live with) are the only people I speak to regularly. I feel like that wouldn't be such work
It's not a vacation; it's the rest of your life. Your decision should be in large part, based on how much you believe.
Nikki keys You'd really have to think about doing it and making a lot of sacrifices. For example, you'd be away from your family, (yes you can have visits but not daily I suppose) also your boyfriend, you can't be married as a nun. You have to see God as your spouse pretty much. Nuns have to give up many many things. But it's worth it to them. If you do make the final decision I wish you the best of luck and God Bless! :)
My dad’s cousin was a nun but she fell in love with someone and left the convent. Last time we saw her in the mid 80s, she had two girls and was happy in love.

I've always wanted to become a sister since the age of 5 years old I'm now 36 and I've got health issues so it's set me back but if I was to become a sister ( nun ) it would not be with a closed order because there silent as well I don't see what good there doing to the world shut behind cell doors just praying. Because Jesus would like you to go out into the world and teach people the word of God like jesus he went out into the world and teacher them the gospel not shut behind cell doors . I love the daughters of Saint Paul's they do a brilliant mission for god and go out into the world and meet the people and they sing put concerts on sing to god there much much better and that's what God would of wanted because there teaching other people and there are more postulents young postulents joining. They have always made albums and the little sisters of the poor do very good work always they can never do another for you. It's god that chooses you not you choosing god its a calling for these that say I want to become a nun it does not work like that it's a calling to god some of them do it because they thing they have got a easy life away from bills etc and not the real reasons some of them are criticise to god but god will judge them in time it has to come from the heart. Plus you have to be like Christ and what Christ would of done . I rest my case. God bless the sisters anyway
Prayer - that is the sole purpose of a monastic (enclosed) community - if you dont believe in the Graces drawn upon the whole of humanity by prayer, there is no purpose for monks and nuns.

I considered religious life in my youth and lived in for a 3 week period with a monastic order. They are very good at discerning who has a vocation and will happily let you give it a try. Not all health issues bar you from religious life. you are young enough. If anything, age is more of a barrier and if you leave it til much later, it can be very difficult. The aim is to find out what you think God is asking of you and go for it. If it is a religious vocatioN He will show you. If you really want to do it, approach a religious sister and chat about it. They also look into your commitments such as parents, if you are looking after anyone at home, if you are mentally fit and feel positive about the world rather than wanting to be away from it. kate Middleton Great life only in God. It's not running away from anything as others might say. It is a human & divine relationship with Jesus Christ in love till death. Deep faith & Contemplative prayers are ideal to obtain the Grace for the soul, heart., mind to see such amazing reality. If no prayers commitment...the mind, heart, soul will never be centered on God. Result...in leaving perhaps in marriage ..etc and do something else in which the mind, heart, soul and body can be satisfied. Bless the nuns keep on living life to the full in Jesus Christ.

That's one of the best things about convent life is receiving the habit like our blessed mother it's an honour to were the habit so why be ashamed of it to look like our blessed mother it's a bit of a criticism to Convent life
Ever wonder what nuns do in their spare time?... you know... when they are not eating, sleeping, praying, or attending mass. I like to think that they watch TV shows like "Nunsmoke", "The Nunsters" and "Nunday Night Football"... or read books like "The Nun Also Rises", or "And Then There Were Nun"... or watch sporting events like "The Home Nun Derby", "Nundertaker Wrestling Matches", or "The Nunning of the Bulls"... or maybe sing songs like "16 Nuns and Whaddya Get" or "Nun so Vile". In any event, I'll bet they most enjoy renting DVD movies like "The Nun Fight at the OK Corral", "It's a Nunderful Life", Co-Nun the Barbarian", "Nun with Dick and Jane", "Annie Get Your Nun" and, of course, my all-time favorite, "Remember the Tight Nuns". :-) Blessings, all, JD
darwinsworstnytemare they do watch TV in some convents but it is very rare. Other than that they go for walks, play games, cards, read books, or do crafts. I'm currently trying to be a nun and have visited many convents. This is what I have seen first hand.

darwinsworstnytemare Sometimes they also WORK. They work for community things. For example, working in hospitals, schools, elderly homes, do charity work, etc. And like a previous comment said, they can be playing cards, sport sometimes in their convent, and well other things.
I need the Carmelite spirituality but I cannot see myself joining a convent . Not in this country at any rate, unless they follow the Tradition. Bring back the Traditional Liturgies otherwise I think I would be in conflict and seriously at odds with the superiors and community. Actually if I am truly honest I think my vocation is marriage . I think the religious life is in need of being reformed though .

People can not do both marriage and church. That’s why Paul says I wish all you be like me but also allows the preaching and teaching for those who are gifted.
For married people he says:
Man and women are concerned about the affairs of the world how can they please each other.
But virgins are body and soul committed to the Lord.
In Hosea 2 God criticizes the church as adulterous wife for owning children not theirs, prostituting with lovers for example those that go to sleep. And says in that day you will not call me master anymore but HUSBAND.
This are some mistakes churches do but God can judge the highest so is not abnormal for church to face such judgments because God need their full dedication otherwise go get married and make children for Jesus become a farmer.

To base one's entire life simply on faith is so hard for me to understand. "You must faith the size of a mustard seed..." What would happen if suddenly it were scientifically proven that there was no God....

I would rather get married and have a teammate to help me spread the gospel message and a prayer partner and help orphans and widows (scripture). The bible says where two or three gather in My name, I am there with them. If children are in the picture, then raise Godly children who will be taught scripture and how to serve God. God never said chastity or celibacy makes anyone more holy. Anyone can have a life of prayer. We pray all the time. And when we pray we do not use vain repetitions as the pagans do. Everyone is also expected to work and support themselves. For housewives, raising children, cooking, cleaning and running all the errands is a invaluable profession. For those that can't afford that, both are contributing to supporting the household. Who supports these confined nuns?
Sorry, I was raised catholic and left. The women in my church are out and about and share the gospel message with their co-workers, friends, neighbors, everyone. They are helping the poor, the sick, the homeless. They aren't confined. They lay hands on the sick for healing. How can you spread the gospel message and lay hands when you are confined?
I have seen many husband/wife pastors, missionaries, evangelists, etc. They work as a team. They get a lot done. They are one in the flesh as scripture says.
Do what you want to do. If this makes you happy then do it. I just don't see how this fits into Jesus plan. To be confined and separated from all the people that need salvation and care. *Just remember, the church (ekklesia) is Jesus' bride. So all that believe in him and follow his commands are married to him.*

This makes no sense. They are praying for good to be done in the world instead of stepping out of their convent and actually doing that good work themselves. Go outside! Care for the sick, be a compagnion to lonely elders, care for new mothers and their babies, be a listening ear to those that need it. Just praying and hoping someone else will take care of that makes no sense at all.
NewYork They do! Nuns do a lot of extra work outside of their convent. Some are nurses, some work at catholic schools, as well as helping the elderly. I'd suggest reading about them other than believing they don't do extra work. I mean how do you think some get paid? :/

Like in the 19th century when Hawaii was suffering from a leprosy outbreak a Christian group from America and Denmark, lead by Father Damien, went there to look after the sick. Father Damien ended up getting leprosy and died.
Amen!! You can't do what Jesus commanded by never leaving a convent. Not only caring for those that need help but also leading people to Jesus, spreading the gospel.

This "Catholic" "Carmelite" is broadcasting on RUclips telling young people in effect that it's fine to shack up with a "partner" outside of matrimony -- which is a lie. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, help the poor Church, which is being so ravaged and is now going through its passion, its Gethsemani as Christ's body on earth.
