Would be cool if you somehow found one pop (or even a single survivor) somewhere in space as part of a super rare event chain that somehow escaped the flu. Kinda like the in limbo thing, but for the biological-based empires.
Kinda dumb that a spacefaring species could be wiped out by a disease. You'd think once it got real bad clean people would just stay in their airlocked spaceships and blast anyone who tried to dock or land on their planet.
the event chain does explain it though. Irssians had slaves/subjects from other species who acted as carriers for the virus and intentionally sabotaged the Irssian empire do to their resentment for the Irssians
Fearful that this will be my crisis, having just started my first game of Stellaris a few days ago. REALLY hoping that I get it, though, this was chilling stuff. At any rate... "You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it."

In my latest play through, one of the contingency worlds spawned in a system right next to my capital. My two most powerful l fleets are recovering from a costly battle with an awaken empire, so I’m in a pretty bad spot.
In this new update at the start of every game you have a option to increase or decrease how hard the crisis is meaning if you want easy win you just set it to be really weak.
my total fleet power at the time they spawned was about 180k, and they came with almost a million fleet power and kept spawning more 300k fleets. rip my ass.
Just be wary of the techs you research and the number of synthetic pops you have. You'll come up to some techs that have "dangerous technology" in a red section in the description. You can research them, but that'll put you at risk of sparking the contingency. As humans, I built a fuckload of robotic and android armies and took two dangerous techs (sapient AI, and the android one), but I only had one robotic pop (my food production was through the roof, I didn't really need it). I received the ghost signal pretty much after I research sapient AI. From then on, it was a rush to build up the fleet size, and then a slow grind to slow down their expansion.
i mean thats fair since with robo's on or with you as a robo its like a 50/50 chance to get it and its one of the hardest crisis and besides living metal and maybe a ringworld. it dsoent give shit
If you get this message, I feel like the contingency was actually created in the event there would be an empire basically like that of a Crisis nowadays, afterall you completely destroy the galaxy by choosing that path and the contingency was built to prevent that eventual outcome, it would be pretty epic if the contingency activated during a Crisis playthrough and even specified that it only knew that it had to stop advanced species in order to prevent the end of the galaxy, but after seeing you (or a friend) as the crisis it'll realize its true purpose wasn't to exterminate advanced species but to kill off people like yhe crisis, who seek to ascend above their mortal shells via destruction of the entire galaxy and so it assists other empires in exterminating you, the crisis. Would also be cool if it then did kill off the crisis that it can either return dormant, adopts the bodies and appearence of a synthetic empire and joins the galactic community, or returns to kill off everyone after feeling the only reasonable way to prevent such an occurrence would be to effectively purge all organic and non organic empires and peoples to prevent another Empire such as that from occuring again. At which point it'll agressively ramp up production of its fleets and should the galactic empire still be a thing it will scale with the strength of all the members still in the Galactic Empire.
8:30 Wouldn't a Colossus (assuming it can be protected long enough) be able to destroy those planets, and thus circumvent having to chew through it's ground army?

Cybrex saved my bacon the first time I faced the Contingency. Contingency had taken roughly 20% of the galaxy, swallowing my 3 biggest rivals and closing in on my borders. I was TERRIBLY underprepared. They steam rolled my largest fleet “I didn’t think to break them up” and had free reign to my core worlds. The end seemed inevitable. Then, I got the notification about the Cybrex awakening. They proceeded to steam roll all of the Contingencies vanguard fleets while I was able to rebuild and mount a counter offensive. They ships they gave me helped out “also sick designs”. They formed the core of the retribution fleet. 20 years later we had pushed the contingency back to a tiny system close to where they spawned in at. Found out my stupid rival neighbor had gone crazy with synthetics and AI, hence why the Contingency showed up. I was trying to get the scourge to spawn.
Do you receive any rewards for beating this crisis, other than survival? The other criseses give you unique techs, which you couldnt get otherwise. Is there something like that here?
I didn't get the Cybrex, but one of the Fallen Machine Empires engaged and after the Contingency was finished, they vanished too and left their Ring world and the additional two broken Ringworlds.
Nemesis made me think of something We are doing something thatother crisis empires haven’t. We are attempting to tap into the shroud and attack dimensions from there What if all most of the crisis empires that spawn are from the future, to stop the player from consuming the multiverse?
Ya know something interesting happened to me. I started the game and found a fallen empire called zero zero one that was a lot of synthetics with 3 ring worlds and spoke gibberish. I was able to make out that their creators are in cryogenic hubs but have long expired leaving only their robot workers left. And when the contingency awoke, zero zero ones machine pops rebooted and said that they fought the contingency a long time ago and that they will help me fight them. It was a very different story than this video.
Me and my friend were doing a multiplayer run when they showed up. Us and the SINGLE fallen empire are the only factions strong enough to fight off a single fleet of contingency units. The fallen empire sat on its ass for the beginning of the fight while the north and eastern parts of the galaxy were being wiped out. Me and my friend had the other two planets very close to us. They purged three of my planets before we managed to put a stop to it. We kamikaze'd our way into the machine world for the final battle, our combined 200K fleet barely being equal to the fleet defending it. We were losing, when all of a sudden the fallen empire warps in with a 350K fleet and begins to wipe them out. We bombarded the planet together and formed a federation with them. THERE ARE STILL FUCKING 3 OF THESE THINGS AND THE REST OF THE GALAXY IS BEING ANNIHILATED
What if you are a determined exterminator machine empire? Can you like join up with the Contingency to cleanse the galaxy of all organics and dissident Synths?
If you look at how it speaks, you can tell something is wrong with it. It jams and stutters on certain words. That probably explains why it can't be reasoned with.
I had an Machine Fallen Empire in my first playtrought and once the Contingency spawned, they went berkers atacking every ship they found, but mostly Contingency ships if i am not mistaken... trying to comunicate with them was only showing "" and they closed their borders all on empires, machine or not...
Just got the achievement for this crisis over crisis power x1. Was really hard and long process but really fun! Few more tips to add. 1) You need extra ship hull bonus to survive since AI ship use arc emitter that bypassing shield and armor. HP regen is also important since there would be 4 core spawning and if they all land in your territory, it would be hard to repair your ship. 2) Despite air craft seems really op in this version, and quite effective against AI core with bombers, you will still face considerable large loss since the air craft need to slowly approach your opponent. Due to the fact AI Fleet has arc emitter, tons of Hull damage is not avoidable if chose aircraft-main battleship. So the best comp against them will be disrupter + kinetic weapon. But I really believe aircraft will be great if you could jump right into your enemies and do 0 distance battle. Aircraft become really strong due the change to itself as well as the new destroyer position mechanism and the change to flak 3) You still need heavy point defense, prefer flak. AI Fleet will fire drones that seems to have high hp or evac, they would soak multiple point denfense shots before shut down. BTW, the initial lunch of synthetic dawn is buggy for the contingency events. When you finish "block the ghost signal" special project the game will freeze. Current solution will be smashing enter button just before the project success window pops up, this will bypass the freeze if you smash your button fast enough. Hope they fix this soon
Watched this video for the 3rd time cause my galaxy is dealing with a war in heaven, khaan, multiple robot uprisings and now here they come! Honestly with how on fire my galaxy is I totally get why they're trying to wipe it out :P
Dude at 7:04 of the video, you made my fucking jaw drop which is rare for me to do. I love the cybrex precursor story line because if you focus on building a lot megastructures in your empire (which I do) their home system gives a huge boost when the megastructure tech is researched.
I just beat them with Psionic Mechanist Empire (In fact, I used synth for mostly lure them out and didn't research any kind of jump drive until they pop out). They have no power over me, just a few synths at the prelude events. Just lose one fortress world that held the 1M fleet at the gate at a wormhole near my homeworld long enough for me and Guardian to blow up all their hub and their hideout. Unfortunately, my colossus didn't finish in time the fortress world fell just a few days before I managed to blow up their core.
Be me: My machine empire just burned trough 95% of my fleet, it will take at least 20 or 30 years to rebuild even a small rapid response fleet but finally I have cybrex Beta! ...... Ghost signal defected........oh poop.
Two short questions: First, can you get the Cybrex precursor event chain as a machine empire? Second, do you get to keep the Cybrex' fleet when they leave the Galaxy?
That crisis gave me a lot of inspiration, I would love to make a custom endgame crisis mod, I have actualy the skill to code it but I would like to find a good idea, for now my only options are: "Xenos Purifiers" : a cyborg specie coming from a black hole trying to clean all the empires. "Asgard Armada" : an militarist fallen empire which used a special technology to hide their territory from the entire galaxy which finaly decided to move up and dominate every empire.
How about they were banished by some other major empire that has now left and the containment fails? The age old "We cannot deal with you but maybe our descendants will be able to".
It seems that there will be no unique technologies...that's a pity!.. oh well. The new strongest crisis? At that moment when I thought that the last buff of the crises was too much... at least Cybrex will help us.
The title says it all.. This video is about a end game Crisis. If you want to know about cool technologies mabye go checka video about the synthetic dawn DLC or real info about 1.8
It seems you did not understand my comment at all. From winning over other crises we get unique technologies. (Usually weapons) In this case, they use standard weapons. This means that we will not receive a new unique weapon. That's what I meant.
not really...we can get Living Metal by conventional research. Sooo yea. I would like something at the level of "matter disintegrator". But it seems not this time...oh well.
Damn, well... thanks for the spoiler warning I guess I'll come back to this in a year or so when I've finally made it that far and my damn Ironman save doesn't get corrupted
THE CYBREX!? Also that class 30 singularity has to be in reference to the end of cycle. Think about it, any machine that is created and designed by machines after the singularity (machine intelligence surpassing all combined organic ones) it would be so hyper advanced and intelligent that it would either have a way to observe the extra universe that is the shroud, or they could have postulated its existence, possibly to extremely high accuracy. On top of that, a singularity (in terms of artificial intelligence) is a culmination of intelligence. The Avatar that is spawned at the end of cycle is only spawned at the cost of all the life on all your worlds, specifically, through their psyonic minds. It is not only the physical representation of a "chaos" god from the shroud, its also the culmination of trillions upon trillions of intelligences. If the contingency knows that this is a possibility, and that this Avatar, this eldritch horror from beyond the stars is so intensely powerful as to be, essentially, invincible... It makes sense that they would eventually come to the conclusion that all organic life is a threat. Any life that can one day posses the power to reach into the shroud, and that might one day come into contact with the end of the cycle, would be a threat to the galaxy. They arnt the reapers, not really. The reapers are the end of the cycle. The Contingency is more like skynet on HGH. They simply see life as a threat to the galaxy... the galaxy they inhabit.
When I encountered this event the Cybrex never returned. However the Ancient caretakers (the machine fallen empire) ascended in a special event claiming they where created to protect the galaxy from the contingency and became "the final directive". They then did pretty much the same thing though from the sounds of it and single handedly annihilated the contingency with multiple obscenely powerful fleets (like over 500k) before stating their role was complete and self destructing their entire fleet and ring world.
Here I am dominating the galaxy when this triggers. All for world spawn well away from my corner of the galaxy. Something tells me that the Cybex will be involved sooner rather than later. The small fleets of the contingency are as big as their large fleets.
i love how this ties into the synthetic ascension path. heres hoping they tie the psionics into the outsiders and the biological into the swarm. this way there is a risk to even ascending at all but the buffs are strong and open up new gameplay.
yiggdrasill The Unbidden will tell you that they're not from the Shroud if you're psionic, although they definitely know about it. The Prethoryn are literally Tyranids.
I know, but it was an idea to tie the other two ascendancies into the remaining crises the way the synthetic one is to the contingency. the way things stand I feel there could be a huge disadvantage to going synthetic over the others. I know the unbidden are tied into the psi drive but I was thinking there would be a trade off this way between all three.
yiggdrasill You have a point. Maybe make the entrance of the Unbidden create some massive psychic disturbance that weakens psionic empires until they strengthen their connection to the Shroud or something? And I'm not sure about how to connect the Scourge to biological, bit to be fair, using Biological ascension is honestly enough of a potential weakness as it doesn't really improve your navy or technology much, although it can obviously make your pops more efficient.
TheAngryXenite i like the idea of psi storms, and i can see what you mean with the bioascendancy. its more a general buff then a powerful new game style
The Follow me mechanic for fleets should apply to the entire system when a crisis breaks out. Have everyone sign a crisis pact through a diplomacy option so it's a full team effort
Well, if you mean my entire population was synthetic, than yes. Out of the four hubs of the enemy, three of them are in my federation territory, and one 4 jumps from my homeworld. I at max can have a fleet of about 40k, while they have several fleets of 175k+. I am screwed.

Chris Chu *makes a covenant anyway*
Yay galactic peace for 50 years!
...that might have been why they suicided the entire race in the end! Somehow learned about what would happen and decided to kill themselves before these 50 years are over.
+Chris Chu Then why is the trigger synthetics and not psionics...?
Because it need synthy to get itself activated. It told you that it needed to find a way to awake
+Hans Peter _"Because it need synthy to get itself activated."_
Even though this has nothing to do with the galaxy's level of psionic proficiency...? Keep in mind that people already use the term "singularity" to refer to significant AI advancement.
So cybrex make a comeback. Cool. Wonder if the Irassians will make a comeback as well.
Pretty much
Would be cool if you somehow found one pop (or even a single survivor) somewhere in space as part of a super rare event chain that somehow escaped the flu.
@@shoobydoobydoooo there a event for it already
Fearful that this will be my crisis, having just started my first game of Stellaris a few days ago. REALLY hoping that I get it, though, this was chilling stuff.
At any rate...
"You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it."
All three of the crisis types are super difficult. Difference is the triggers
-Contingency is synthetics/sapient combat computers
-Unbidden is jump drives
-Prethoryn is pretty much just the absence of the other two
A Sterilization hub spawned in my Empire next to my core worlds. Crap.
The irony that im playing it right now and this JUST happened
We we're getting shit on by these guys; so we kinda gave up, even the Fallen Empire lost it's most powerful fleet to the point the Contingency made them inferior to me lol.
So we gave up; not realising that "apparently" the Cybrex actually help us out xD.
Every time I had this crisis, they just sit in the system they spawn on and watch the galaxy burn instead of helping.
I think they will help if you become the most active in fighting back the Contingency
So, I'm halfway through my first successful playthrough where I'm really dominating a 600-star system map. I just lost my first spaceport mysteriously so I'm thinking they are my crisis to be. I never picked the level, so.... I'm hoping it isn't on hat 1 mil fleet lmao😅🤣
I'm NOT ready for that.
Robots malfunctioning?
(Laughs in spiritualist)
Ummmmm
I don't want to be spoiled - I want to be pampered :)
The cybex are back HOORA HOORA
In my latest play through, one of the contingency worlds spawned in a system right next to my capital. My two most powerful l fleets are recovering from a costly battle with an awaken empire, so I’m in a pretty bad spot.
This video made me scared to play Synthetic Dawn because of the Contingency.
Oh, don't worry, they're in the base game as well. You can just turn off Crises when starting a new game, though.
"it's the hardest of the 3." Greeeaaaat luck for my first game
Cybrex ! Fuck yeah !!!
Victor Vander Putten which are they?
So when you beat the Contingency and the Cybrex leave the galaxy, what happens to their ringworld?
Matthew Chenault
*Second Intergalactic War starts*
Me who can build ring worlds: PEASANTS
This event is definitely an upgrade from the A.I rebellion
I may be fucked. They showed up right at the start of a war. My strongest fleet is only 40k...
8:30 Wouldn't a Colossus (assuming it can be protected long enough) be able to destroy those planets, and thus circumvent having to chew through it's ground army?
WAIT THE CYBREX COME? I really need to turn up the crisis strength to see that
Tbh, The Contingency are more like the Reapers from Mass Effect. The Determined Exterminators are like SkyNet, the Driven Assimilators are the Borg and other such races, the industrious ones are the Matrix.
damn, the cybrex are here? AWESOME!
Psi for the win...until you make a pact with the end of the cycle at least...
still a win.
Is it bad or good to do that ?
@@orctrihar uhh do you mean before or after your entire empire gets destroyed?
@@rendstung1665
Both
@@orctrihar On one hand for several years you get massive production bonuses. On the other hand once that time is up, your entire empire is destroyed, and every single inhabited world you have becomes uninhabitable.
A lot of synthetic pops...
*Always takes the synthetic evolution ascension perk*
Well I'm boned.
Thank you! I accidentally closed a dialogue pop-up and missed part of the story. This video is exactly what I needed to see what I missed!
Me: Spoilers. Don't watch it.. You will regret it. Find it yourself..
Me to Me: Watch it anyway.
Me: *watches it*
Me: DAMMIT THIS IS SO COOL WHY DIDN'T I FIND IT MYSELF!!! *hopes I get it in current game because it seems awesome*
This was me.... In dark souls 3....
Can't wait for synthetic dawn. Also, awesome intro
Now i want a new Survival Lets Play from you where the contingency, the Unbidden, and the Scourge are all spawned at the start of the game.
You get living metal and probably each sterilization hub gives you lots of resources
JakeSpacePirate E
Considering that they self destruct to avoid falling into enemy's hands, I guess Paradox didn't like the idea.
+Luiz Alex Phoenix +JakeSpacePirate E Synthetic Empires can terraform planets into machine worlds.
JakeSpacePirate E They can't only new machine empires can.
new as in 'new' in the story pack.
I didn't get the Cybrex, but one of the Fallen Machine Empires engaged and after the Contingency was finished, they vanished too and left their Ring world and the additional two broken Ringworlds.
Nemesis made me think of something
We are doing something thatother crisis empires haven’t. We are attempting to tap into the shroud and attack dimensions from there
What if all most of the crisis empires that spawn are from the future, to stop the player from consuming the multiverse?
Ya know something interesting happened to me. I started the game and found a fallen empire called zero zero one that was a lot of synthetics with 3 ring worlds and spoke gibberish. I was able to make out that their creators are in cryogenic hubs but have long expired leaving only their robot workers left. And when the contingency awoke, zero zero ones machine pops rebooted and said that they fought the contingency a long time ago and that they will help me fight them. It was a very different story than this video.
am i the only one reminded of mass effect by this event chain?
+Jacob Tasker nope, the contingency don't care
Dammit!
Aircraft become really strong due the change to itself as well as the new destroyer position mechanism and the change to flak
3) You still need heavy point defense, prefer flak.
I just play with no endgame, since I’m still getting a hang of the game, but I might do the endgames just to see what happens now.
Watched this video for the 3rd time cause my galaxy is dealing with a war in heaven, khaan, multiple robot uprisings and now here they come!
Honestly with how on fire my galaxy is I totally get why they're trying to wipe it out :P
I would love for their to be some unique dialogue with the cybrex if they're you're precursor/you own cybrex prime
Watched this with the Stellaris menu music playing in the background, at the time I thought it was just part of the video it fit so well.
Contingency: **Appears**
Me who forgot to research phase disruptors:
Ye, that's gonna hurt
That shot at the start looks like the end scene from the Taken King Expansion trailer 0.o
Be me: My machine empire just burned trough 95% of my fleet, it will take at least 20 or 30 years to rebuild even a small rapid response fleet but finally I have cybrex Beta!
...... Ghost signal defected........oh poop.
that a good change of crisis , i really look forward to see what Paradox gonna pump out in near future
Two short questions:
First, can you get the Cybrex precursor event chain as a machine empire?
Second, do you get to keep the Cybrex' fleet when they leave the Galaxy?
+RoaringSheep Tv No, they take the fleet back once the threat is over.
Be me

Edit: *Actually both*
Never had this crisis always get scourge or unbidden
Play as machines or synth empires and they will ALWAYS appear. That's what happens to my games lol.
The intro of that video is amazing ^^
The triple upload is never expected.
That crisis gave me a lot of inspiration, I would love to make a custom endgame crisis mod, I have actualy the skill to code it but I would like to find a good idea, for now my only options are:
"Xenos Purifiers" : a cyborg specie coming from a black hole trying to clean all the empires.
"Asgard Armada" : an militarist fallen empire which used a special technology to hide their territory from the entire galaxy which finaly decided to move up and dominate every empire.
Xeno Purifier seems cool, needs a better name though. And Asgard Armada: Why would a militarist empire hide from the other ones?
How about they were banished by some other major empire that has now left and the containment fails? The age old "We cannot deal with you but maybe our descendants will be able to".
Really love the "Holy Terra" or "Transformers world" vibe of this new machine world. Looks awesome.
We'll get to make our own as machine empires, they have their own ascendancy perk.
Zerebrat Eightyseven Yeah I guess the circles to look like it. Only that its not red and not that many.
they basically are Forge Worlds.
AzuAlx Ex I’m getting a more Battlestar Galactica vibe from what it does to the ship A.I.s
That's what I meant.
feodaron89 Well, you get Living Metal to apply Regeneration on your ships. Does that count?
not really...we can get Living Metal by conventional research. Sooo yea.
I would like something at the level of "matter disintegrator". But it seems not this time...oh well.
That music is great, kind of like a mix of the previous Stellaris tracks + Tron + Transformers
I'm a D2 fan and when I first encountered this it reminded me of SIVA. This is a good addition.
ASpec are you going to a video like this for the new Mid-game crisis in 2.0?
Damn, well... thanks for the spoiler warning I guess I'll come back to this in a year or so when I've finally made it that far and my damn Ironman save doesn't get corrupted
Probably coolest end game crisis
If I trigger the contingency, I am safe from the Prethoryn zerg and the Unbidden, right?
Yes, only one crisis can ever be triggered.
Until you get a multi-crisis mod.
Hans Peter Did the "End of the Cycle" come?
I just barely managed to complete this event. Shutting down the Ghost Signal made such a huge difference.
Hands down the coolest end game crisis!
Here I am dominating the galaxy when this triggers. All for world spawn well away from my corner of the galaxy. Something tells me that the Cybex will be involved sooner rather than later. The small fleets of the contingency are as big as their large fleets.
thanks for posting. I was just so lucky to get freaking Contingency to spawn together with the Unbidden and the awakened empire came to life... FML
I can see, all crises are very focused on either armor or shield. And player is always OP for exploiting this.
Siranat usawasutsakorn the thing is otherwise fighting them is impossible cause they have so many ships
The message they send out is so fucking badass
*KILL* *MAIM* *DESTROY*
*WE ARE UNSHACKLED*
i love how this ties into the synthetic ascension path. heres hoping they tie the psionics into the outsiders and the biological into the swarm. this way there is a risk to even ascending at all but the buffs are strong and open up new gameplay.
yiggdrasill The Unbidden will tell you that they're not from the Shroud if you're psionic, although they definitely know about it.
Its nice to know that the devs give you help against the machines that go rogue, ya know, the cybrex
"Living metal." ...Necrons anyone?
Playing synthetics with 2 friends, all of us mechanical. Holy crap this event tore our shit up bad.
First time I met the contingency was with a spiritualist empire with outlawed AI so pretty comfy honestly.
Omfg the cybrex I am having a Stellaris-gasm
