    • @XxTaiMTxX
      @XxTaiMTxX 5 лет назад +110

      I went to war with them for the Tech as well. Not that I need it. My research already outstrips everyone in the galaxy. I went to war just to unlock the tech. Claimed no planets of theirs, no systems. They immediately went back to war with me as soon as the "grace period" ended. I chose "humiliation" as a war goal. Knocked 'em down a peg again. As soon as the grace period ended again, right back to war with me. This time, I was simply tired of it. I claimed every system they owned, wiped their species off of EVERY planet they owned with my Colossus except for ONE planet... And won the war. Once I won, I took their species, improved it with my genetics stuff... and improved their whole species to be part of my xenophile empire of like 35 different species.
      Basically, I want their tech for the "endgame crisis". Though, at this point, I'll probably knock that out of the park as well.
      I own like 60% of the entire galaxy and can't even manage all the planets I own. I don't need more real estate. I need less people who want to go to war with me, and the quicker arrival of the end-game threat. Even with my small fleets of only 45K power, I mop the floor with other fleets I run across.
      I kind of wish the Fallen Empires had more tech than they do. Like, a whole new tree's worth of tech. I kind of hate getting to the end of a tech tree and just getting "infinite bonuses".

    I remember back in an older version of the game when I was saddled up next a spiritualist fallen empire. There’s was a Gia world right outside their territory and of course I knew I shouldn’t colonize it. So a few decades passed and I eventually made that area a sector and turned on the auto colonize button (I can’t remember what it was called), I wasn’t really thinking about it. A few months later the fallen empire declared war on me. I was like, “What?!”. That’s when I found out that my sector governor had the ‘brilliant’ idea of colonizing that Gia world.
    Long story short, my empire was wiped out because my governor couldn’t be trusted to make smart choices.

I was in the beginning of the crisis, so I told them to fuck off, without even reading properly. Boy, oh boy, weren’t they pissed off... Only the fact that unbidden were rampaging really far away from me combined with AI’s clinical stupidity saved me from being rect that time. What is this automation feature you speak of? It sounds like a wonderful double edged sword.

  • @VengeanceMkII
    @VengeanceMkII 5 лет назад +51

    It was a long time after the feature was released but when I had my first major War in Heaven something amazing happened. Every race rejected the Awakened Empires' demands to join them and everyone joined in a League of Non-Aligned Worlds in unity to defend against the dark. The entire game map sans the Awakened Empires became a unified color in alliance. It was quite impressive until the AI rears its head of how incompetent it is at handling a galaxy's worth of battlefleets. In fact the War in Heaven ended frequently in drawn out wars of indecisiveness.
    It got so bad that members began to leave the alliance out of sheer disliking of the others because some ethics were simply too conflicting. In the end my own race, whom held the most powerful single battlefleet in the galaxy besides the Awakened Empires, held a vote to the Federation to declare war on the weaker of the Awakened Empires. Surely with the combined Federation fleet and my own fleet we can defeat them. But the vote failed by a land slide, the Federation was scared, indecisive. My empire then finally made their decision. We destroyed the Federation fleet, left the Federation, declared war on the weaker Awakened Empire ourselves and defeated them by ourselves alone. Yes we gave the middle finger to the Federation by de-constructing the entire shared fleet as an insult in order to prevent retaliation against my Empire.

    6:50 The machine fallen empire has a chance to go rogue if the contingency *happens*, not if the contingency fails to happen. If the contingency happens, the Ancient Caretakers (the machine fallen empire) will always be chosen to awaken as guardians of the galaxy. However, there is a 33.33(repeating, of course)% chance that they will be corrupted by the contingency and go berserk.
    8:45 Any two fallen empires can start a war in heaven. However, the chance of it happening is significantly higher for fallen empires with opposing ethics.

    Just want point out something that aspec didn’t cover in the video about the war in heaven. There is a small chance I forget how much but fallen empires that awaken can start the war in heaven even if they aren’t paired ( for example a materialist AE and a Xenophobic AE can start the war in heaven I know from personal experience and I was shocked)

    • @FUnazis
      @FUnazis 4 года назад +3

      Yeh, in my current game, I got materialists and xenophiles and they began their war in heaven. Interestingly, even though the materialists are significantly stronger in fleet power, all remaining other empires except for one decided to side with the xenophiles. Not sure if that is a case of something unlikely happening, or if they are naturally more likely to join xenophile in this.

    • @potato88872

      In my recent war in heaven i have the reclaimer go "hippity hoppity you empire is now my property" with more then 70% of the galaxy under their controll
      My empire was robotic that for more then 200 years remain isolated from anything and anyone, except a few treat here and there.
      After that for roughly 30 years, maybe more, I start pocking other empire, especialy when two empire decide go into the crisis perk ( one of them even manage to go to the end of it.......and got curmstombed )
      Then, the first two main war, I decide to go to war with the weakened xenophile awakened empire to fix my border and get choke point to place my fleet
      And then, I decide to go war with the other fallen empire because i wanted that L-GATE
      And it went horrible bad, like i start with 6 full fleet and finish with only 1 fully function, the other were all badly damage, my empire got cut into 3 sector ( not to far from each other but still, very sad ) and I only have a 10 year truce.
      So, in true fallen empire style, we fully awaken and we start rebuild, thus starting an 80 years cold war beetween me and the reclaimers, in that period i build a ring world, a sentry array, strategic center and the mega shipyard, become the custodian to get 3 extra battleship fleet free upkeep, and so on
      Then the second war started to reclaim my lost territory and, it was tought but I manage to reconect all the sector and dealing so much damage to their fleet that I knocked them down from supremacy to isolation policy ( yes they can change their policy )
      After that I got in two brief with the ancient caretaker ( fully conquered ) and the fallen empire materialist plus his scion ( only two system taken from them, the scion is relative intact ) and then the third war with the jingoist, kinda brief but I manage to finaly be in positive territory gain and to put them equivalent fleet power with me
      That my war in heaven in a nutshell

  • @josephbray9979

    I had the problem with the war in heaven where I was the leader of the third faction and both fallen empires declared war on me. It wasn't so bad when I defeated both of them, but all the other factions that joined with them were still are war with me and the war attrition modifier never went up, which meant I had to conquer most of the galaxy in order to end the war

Similar to the Enigmatic Observers while Fallen, but becoming their vassal if/when they Awaken (as the Passive-Aggressivist Panjandrums) causes your ethics to shift towards pacifism. If you don't become their wiling vassal; well, they won't start a war, but nothing says they have to protect you from another AE, or that they won't subsidise your enemies and give them missions to knock you down a peg or two...

    You know, with all these fallen empires and end game crisis, wouldn't it be something if you could start in a galaxy that was instead ruined by a massive war between such factions? Basically a galaxy where all the bad things happened... and perhaps will come back after licking their wounds for another round. Seems like it could at least be an interesting new flavor of game, or perhaps a harder game with unique higher level challenges.

      It would be very cool if you had 'scenarios' to choose in the begining of the game.
      Shit like: -Post War on Heaven Galaxy, where a bigger number of habitable worlds are tomb worlds, there's one Huge falllen empire in the middle of the Galaxy and other nearby 'pacifist' (e.g. pacified) fallen empires.
      Young Bloomers- You are one of the first species to achieve FTL other than a Xenophile Fallen empire. A lot more planets are populated by primitives and the FE will declare war on you if you try to 'cleanse' a world for colonisation. They give you missions for uplifting some races, and eventually other races reach FLT era, and they'll have some tech donated to them by the FE to 'equalize the playing ground'
      Galactic trade company - A special FE that will demand any strategic resources you collect, eventually demanding the systems producing them.
      Wait, what? - You are the only organic species on a Galaxy of different robotic fanatic anihilators. You have 150 years before they realize you are, in fact, an organic and most will declare war on you
