Excellent work Brenden, a broad variety of passenger working and a little freight for good measure, nice on. Steel train will be interesting with Qube and SSR (actually thought it was SCT and not SSR) running them as far as on time services are concerned. C501 was the highlight for me. Thanks Brenden all the best for 2022...

It is SCT. SCT are taking charge of the Westbound Steel Trains towards Adelaide and Perth

    Goodday Brendan,
I remember when Cooper street their wasn't a bridge back in the 80's.
Great to see PN with a 4 loco lash up.
You can see the entry curve into the old Qube Yard at the end of Union st.
Now Lawson's Transport leases the facility but when Qube had it they assembled all there new wagons for Maryvale.
The reason Qube leased Union st was they wanted to transport by rail all the 30 ton Visy Boxes down to Enterprise Way instead of using semi's.
All the containers were 40 ft.
The problem was the curve into the facility was too tight for fully loaded 80 ft wagons they derailed.
So Qube stuck with semi's instead.
All the heavy boxes all night long.
    Every axle group way overloaded.
    Got away with murder.
Great seeing Big George leading the Charge out of town.
    All the best for 2022.
You know of the new rail facility they are building on Coode road at the docks.
    Cheers
    Louis 👍

All rhe best for 2022. All the infrastructure tracks are still in place. I even remember the SG cement shunting at Somerton. Let's hope it all gets some use some time in the future.

G'day Brendan and Happy New Year! I'm surprised nobody has answered the question you pose in the title of this video so I'll do my best. The Driver of the one slow Down Loco-Hauled Pass. in this video was exercising due caution as loco-hauled trains do not have the braking efficiency of multiple units. The signal in front of the train was displaying a cautionary aspect (the exact nature of which is unclear from the camera angle) and, if my memory serves me right, this is a semi-controlled automatic (or permissive) signal ahead of the Home Signal at Craigieburn. As the Down platform at Craigieburn may have been occupied by a suburban train, the Loco-hauled pass. would be getting routed via the Up Platform and the Signaller would have been assuring that the train was under control before setting the Medium Speed Proceed indication at that Home Signal.
This is a common issue within the Metro area where signal spacing and track circuits for level crossings and pedestrian crossings is set up for multiple unit trains with much better braking characteristics at reasonably close headways. That is why loco-hauled trains have much lower maximum speeds within this area.
Hopefully, this gives some answers to your question. Oh, and by the way, I noticed the Authorised thugs....er Officers were taking a bit of interest in your coverage of the arriving C class hauled train until they were whistleblasted by the Driver of the Up Comeng Empty Cars.
You were in a position of safety in this case but, as Big Man pointed out, a bit more caution needs to be exercised with filming in the Metro area as services have been disrupted numerous times in 2021 because of actual or perceived trespass within the rail corridor. I'm sure you understand the issue. Great coverage of a pleasant evening at Craigieburn and happy videography during 2022.

I miss the old cabbage trains of the 70s here in New Zealand, cabbage in the army was our transport back to camp out of Christchurch at midnight, it was the night freight south with one passenger carriage on the rear, it didn't actually stop dead out side camp but then again we were careful jumping off, being drunk helped ha ha ha, try that now and we would be locked up by the MPs, enjoying your site. 🚂🚂🚂🚂.

The empty container train to Griffith appears to have some double stack cars in its consist. Can containers be double stacked, or is that prohibited due to clearance issues?

Why do the non electrified tracks appear to be wiggly and twisty. Perhaps the long lens causes this effect.

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  3 года назад

Long lense will have an effect. The tracks closest to camera are stabling roads only. The Standard Gauge mainline got lots of work and you can aee it looks better than the passing loop.
