The greatest thing about the Olympics is not the tradition. It is that we could put aside our differences and come together to be a part of the greatest games on earth: the Olympic games. Had the Greeks had seen what would have came of their tradition, I know that they would be truly proud. Though we do not share the meaning of what the Olympics were, we have recreated a new meaning: treating other nations like that of a family. I am happy to be a part of this family. Though I am not in the games, my heart is. To anyone from other countries, good luck. Speaking as part of the United States, I wish your country the best in the games.
Is it wrong? Yes, it is but that is not what the games are about. Many athletes today and in the past have and are taking performance enhancing drugs but many of them were not scolded. However, the important thing is that they were beaten. They lost to people who were not using drugs. Consider it to make the games that much more difficult. What do we have to gain from winning the gold? Nothing. There is no worth in a lie but there is worth in doing the best of your ability against others doing the best of their best abilities even if that means they are cheating.
I remember seeing pictures of athletes dropping dead behind the finish line due to strychnine and amphetamines. Is that what we want to see again? We can be gullible and trust athletes to not take doping,, but that doesn't work. They all need to be tested. And the fact that the Brazilian athletes aren't checked anymore, stinks to high heaven.
You're right. It would be a shame to see that but that is the fault of the athlete. As an Medical Service student, I can tell you that many times, these kinds of things happen. It seems shameful to the nation but they, more than likely did it for the nation. If I found out that an American Olympic athlete dropped dead of drugs during an Olympic game, I might feel a little ashamed of him or her, but had I have known that he or she did it for the nation, I would be proud of him or her, not for the usage of drugs, but that he or she were willing to risk it all for the nation and for something that means nothing but honor.
In the news today: 'Brazil athletes not dope tested ahead of Rio 2016 Olympics' and 'The International Olympic Committee (IOC) chose not to impose a blanket ban on all Russian athletes but directed sports federations to allow them to compete if they met a set of criteria, including a clean doping past and sufficient testing at international events.' Different criteria for Brazilian athletes?
Athens 2004 opening ceremony is the only one that made me cry TBH. The most profound and sophisticated. Olympics should return every couple of decades back to their motherland Greece me thinks.
Athens🇬🇷 (Greece) had the best ceremony. Except the traditional style of the ceremony and the amazing explanation of Greek culture from ancient times to nowadays, the fact that Olympic games returned to their home made more touching, unique and special this ceremony.
am i the only one who drop a tears watching this ? its amazing, to see so many people from around the world gather and be together, present and watching, ease the differences and supportive, to one another, the place where just to take part.
Yes, I remember it at every Olympics since then, the highlights of the opening ceremony is the lighting the Olympic flame into the cauldron. I know how you feel.
The ceremony in Rio 2016 for me was the most contagious of history! A totally different , cheerful, innovative, joyful and welcoming ceremony! The Brazil really is an expert in the party. The diversity ethnic, cultural and musical of Brazil is amazing! Congratulations Rio , it was perfect!!!
I agree, Barcelona lighting of the Olympic flame into the cauldron is the best that no other lighting of the flame by the person who was given the honor can toppled that.
Best opening still is Athens 2004, they created sea and flew a lot of things during the ceremony 🎑 Best torch lighting is Barcelona 1992 🏹 epic lighting with a bow & arrow Best closing is London 2012- they truly showcased their artists.
It is, I absolutely agree with you, no matter what the host countries did a spectacular job doing the opening ceremony. Can't wait for Paris 2024 what their opening ceremony will be, and I know it is held at the Seine River on July 26th, 2024.
Beijing for me still is the best. Credit where credit is due. I watched it full, and it was magnificent. I may be biased because it was the only one I watch in full but it was undeniably beautiful to watch. Amazing artistry anf teamwork.
These opening ceremonies always bring tears to my eyes. It's amazing how beautiful humanity can be if we set aside our differences and work towards a common goal and theme of peace and unity.
I can watch Beijing 2008 Olympic opening and closing ceremonies again and again and again and still in tears of joy and inspiration. It is the BEST of the BEST Olympic ceremonies ever. China has set the bar so high that it is extremely challenging for other countries to top Beijing 2008. This makes it very exciting to anticipate all future Olympic ceremonies.
I always love watching the opening ceremonies and get so excited seeing the parade of nations. No matter what our differences are, the world comes together to enjoy what the finest athletes have to offer. So excited for Paris 2024!!
This video made me cry seeing all the countries of the world uniting together.... humanity coming together to have some fun celebrating our diversity. That is why I love the Olympics.

would be no problem since the Brazilian athletes aren't tested on doping anymore.

Athens 2004, when Olympic Games returned home :)
Athens 2004 opening ceremony is the only one that made me cry TBH. The most profound and sophisticated. Olympics should return every couple of decades back to their motherland Greece me thinks.
What a great tradition.. too bad these few short months are the only times the world can somewhat get along.
exactly...
These things unify up the world :)
Thats exactly the reason we created the olympic... To unite
People still find a way to bash on each other
+PrinceCrazy the Olympics is the only event that unites the world every four years.
Tobi Ojo
but still they run conspiracies like not participating due to cold wars etc
The opening ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games was epic! ♥
Beijing was visually stunning
Not as good as the London 2012's
Thank you for saying that, as a Chinese I'm so proud
+Андрей Скоковский Beijing и есть Пекин по-английски:)
All of them have been great, and the most recent ones in Beijing, London and Rio have been epic, but Beijing is still my favorite.
Athens🇬🇷 (Greece) had the best ceremony. Except the traditional style of the ceremony and the amazing explanation of Greek culture from ancient times to nowadays, the fact that Olympic games returned to their home made more touching, unique and special this ceremony.
Because Greece invented the olympics.
Agreed

Yes, I remember it at every Olympics since then, the highlights of the opening ceremony is the lighting the Olympic flame into the cauldron. I know how you feel.

The ceremony in Rio 2016 for me was the most contagious of history! A totally different , cheerful, innovative, joyful and welcoming ceremony! The Brazil really is an expert in the party. The diversity ethnic, cultural and musical of Brazil is amazing! Congratulations Rio , it was perfect!!!

Athens 2004: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
the drums had been copied from athens
the dress at 0:16 looks amazing
I have no clue why, but after the last torch went up I choked up. It's just such a beautiful moment in every Olympic game.
😭
Beijing opening Ceremonies the most impressive to date . Hands down. That Archer in Barcelona Spain. Great Impression. most unique.
Man, that one in Los Angeles gave me chills, the one with the people holding something like cardboard making the flags of the world...
where are Munich 72 and Moscow 80??
Am I the only one who got teary eyed?....sooo amazing!
Athens 2004 & London 2012 my favs ❤️
I always have to cry when I watch opening ceremonies, its overwelming to see what a glory humanity is.
Moscow 1980 - skipped. USA and its allies boycotted this Games.
Great Britain didn't.
Are you telling me USA controls the olympics?
+dicecop of course
+mio kawazaki Good for them then

It is very heart warming when you see the world come in peace and harmony
Im watching this on 23 July, the first day of Japan's National Olympics! Recalling back the memories :)

The opening ceremony in Athens was incredible. Such a journey!
One of the best cuts/compilations ever. I hope they make one for the most recent couple olympics.
It is now only the history. Times have changed forever.

Nice!
You forgot the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow!?!
yeah thats weird .
I also noticed that...
Yeah. Wasn't that a boycotted games?
+Joshua Broughm err... 1984 was boycotted too!
Как обычно
I love that the Olympic games bring the world together.
It's so meanly and politicize to skip Moscow 1980
I spotted that they missed Moscow as well
Владимир Шарыпов they skipped a lot of cities. Not just moscow
You Russians NEVER learn - don't go around invading countries that are not yours. I don't want drugs cheats in my Olympics anyway.
@@grahamnancledra7036 what country are you from
I agree
From over 2000-3000 to years, back to where it all started: Athens,2004
Don't forget 1896
The Athens 2004 ceremony never fails to give me chills
My favourite was Athens 2004
Beijing opening ceremony was epic
The Journey Was Just Amazing
Why there is no Moscow? It was great opening ceremony!
same
+J.M K.G winter was Sochi. Moscow was summer. Are you banned on Google, homie?
Moscow's gone because the Allied Powers boycotted it. It may as not have been an Olympiad without over half of the participants.
It was cringey and only commie edgelords liked it
they didn't show some like for instance Munich "72 ... its not just Moscow!!!
I always love watching the opening ceremonies and get so excited seeing the parade of nations. No matter what our differences are, the world comes together to enjoy what the finest athletes have to offer. So excited for Paris 2024!!
The arrow lighting the torch on Barcelona 92 may be the most epic and unforgettable moment in the history of opening ceremonies.
Thank you for putting this together. Incredible!
Beijing 2008 was amazing.

London 2012 was such an epic couldron. Looking forward to Tokyo 2020
The Olympics Spirit lives on !!!
where is 1980 moscow olimpics?
+ciro lol it was the Summer Olympics
It was boycotted.
It was the cold war and Russia had just invaded Afghanistan, so the USA and all it's allies boycotted it.
The US and UK also invaded Afghanistan, but also in other countries. So what?
Because of Ivan ✌🏿️
This video made me cry seeing all the countries of the world uniting together.... humanity coming together to have some fun celebrating our diversity. That is why I love the Olympics.
Even though Moscow was boycotted and there were unpleasant memories at Munich, I feel that those moments of history shouldn't be left out.
honestly I don't like Olympics .but I love the hardwork put together by everyone and appreciate it.I feel something is missing every single time!
