This is my hometown! There's plenty to do; there's a lot of local arts activity, people follow the local sports teams, outdoor activities for sure, etc. I think the town being small means you get to know the community really well. Also, in Ketchikan, we generally avoid the downtown area during tourist season. If you get out of the small downtown, there's a lot more going on. Not quite as picturesque but more of the daily living things. Also, living here and waking up to the beautiful view everyday is amazing.
Alaskan here, I live in Juneau but all of southeast is fairly similar. It does get boring, it's amazing but you can get used to anything even Alaska and take it for granted. Once you have hiked all the trails and lets be real all the glaciers look a like it is just the place you live. Watching you video's is great because it reminds me how special a place I live in, so thank you! You got to have a hobby, I have become a very good cook living here and I can't imagen living here without the internet! My husband and myself are gamers so that is where a lot of our free time goes. We vacation as often as possible, it is very common that we travel out of state not only for vacation but for medical treatment. Alaska is a tough place to live, some communities more than others but you can make a really good living here. I am glad you had some good weather! Keep up the great videos.
I just love the empathy that you show for others and the gratefulness that you share. Im a new Subbie and I am always pleased with wherever your videos have led me. You aren't pretentious, you have a great speaking voice, and you are humble. Its so cool to travel with you. Please continue to create content. Wishing you massive growth! Thanks for your hard work. 😊
I lived in a small northern Canadian town, and many of my old classmates spent their teen years drinking in the bush. The isolation and lack of resources, work, and things to do make it very difficult for people to keep on the straight and narrow. I like to hope it's a little better now with high-speed internet and Amazon making resources a bit more accessible, but it's definitely an issue. Also, seeing the Moose Lodge was a moment of nostalgia, because many northern communities have/had a Moose Lodge! We had a lot of events held at the Moose when I was a kid. Watching your videos has really made me appreciate my childhood because a lot of what you've been showing is very normal for me, while your normal theme park videos are the moments where I watch with amazement because I've not been able to experience those things often. Thanks for the excellent content!
I live in Canada not Alaska but it's a small area like that and we go camping, walking to the most beautiful views. Bike riding, in winter we play in the snow, build a snowman, sled, and snow shoe. You wouldn't believe all the activities we do. A lot of amazing bakers in my family cause they got bored.
My husband is from Kenai Alaska and we now live in the "Big D". He misses Alaska sooooo much. Said there is just no other place like it. We have been married 20 years but because I am afraid of flying I have never been there. Thanks for these videos. They make him so happy 😁😁😁
We loved Ketchikan when we visited. Watching your video brought back lovely memories. We did the rainforest hike. Not only were there a ton of bald eagles, but 2 black bears crossed our path as well. So, if you want to see bears, go hiking.
You were SO lucky! It’s actually a rainforest and they have rain most days. When we went, it did rain all day for us, but we went zip lining and it was AMAZING! I’ve been zip lining in a lot of places and Ketchikan is still my favorite.
Hey man, I love your cruise videos! I think it would be fun to see you guys explore some other lines. I've been on Holland America, Princess, and Carnival (x2 ships) and they're all so great in their own ways. I'd love to see you and Koda on the bigger ships in the Carnival or RCL fleet! With that said, your cruise vlogs are great and I really enjoy them, good work!
The next time you go to Ketchikan, don’t miss Creek Street! It’s so cool to walk around and they have some beautiful local artist shops where you can find one of kind treasures. We agree with you about the lumberjack show. Once is enough! Fun but not something I would do every time. I think it be cool to do a fishing excursion as well. We enjoy watching your channel and have learned a lot of tips for WDW. Our son will be there in Oct as part of college program for 6 months. Looking forward to visiting when we move him there. Safe travels and keep those videos coming 😉❤️
Bravo You can tell a cruise story better than anyone! Thank you for sharing so many things about the Alaska cruise I had not thought about! I definitely want to go next year!
Thanks so much for sharing!!! Now I want to go to Alaska!!! Sooooo pretty ❤️❤️❤️ I’ve never been on a Disney Cruise, next year will be my first and I can’t wait 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Most of the workers you see in these Alaskan cruise port villages are seasonal workers brought in for the summertime cruise season. The cruise lines also own much of these villages. After the cruise season ends, all the tourist shops and many of the restaurants close until the following year. But for the few year-rounders, many enjoy the natural surrounding beauty so malls might not rank high on their list of leisure. I know of a village in Cape Cod that has a summer season population of 50.000 to 100.000 but during winter it's only 1800 year rounders. One and done with the lumberjack shows!
If you book the show via their web site.. $37/$18.50 and Disney is $42/$22 that's Adult/Kid prices. I will say.. i love how quick these vlogs are coming.. getting me so excited for our upcoming Disney Alaska trip.. we are closing out Alaska being on the last sailing.
Such beauty you cant compare. You need to come up North to Maine and New Hampshire you will see whales bald eagles and plenty of bears There are so many small towns that resemble the ones you have seen. I loved all these vlogs.
Pack warm clothing and rain gear the weather in September has a higher chance of being cold and rainy, I will keep my fingers crossed for good weather for you! I live in Juneau btw so I am very familiar with the weather here.
@@ArtemisAurora My cruise is during the first week of September. 6 weeks and counting. I live in Central Florida and I am in need of cold weather. It rains every day here so I am use to the wet. :) Hoping to see the Northern lights while I am up there.
Great vlog ! If that’s your balcony next to you please don’t hang clothes on the chairs, they can blow off and go in the ocean. If you take the cruise next year then spend some time on Vancouver island. Victoria and Butchart Gardens are really worth a visit. Also in Vancouver go to capilano suspension bridge and tree catwalk, it’s truly amazing.
This particular cruise has such unique excursion opportunities, thanks for sharing your experience with all of it. Also I'm with you when it comes to fresh fudge, I can't pass up on it (happen to me recently in Cape May, haha). So yummy!
The fact that you look at all that wilderness and have no idea what people do for entertainment or to stay busy is the reason why you have to break out that little white towel when the weather gets hot
Make sure you go to Ketchikan during tourist summer or you will be bored. We made this mistake of going in September and everything was closed for the season.
I saw it twice before and I wasnt on a disney ship I dont rember seeing a disney ship even in port with us. I will be going to ak in three wks and not on a disney ship I wii go to that show again.
We run through the woods and literally tree-hop like monkeys and Tarzan, fishing, camping and cutting down our own Christmas trees in our backyard. I used to live in Ketchikan from 1974-1980

I’m loving this series! The Tiana’s Place dinner looks like so much fun. We need Tiana’s Place in the parks.

I also used to greet the cruise ships on the docks when I was 12, volunteer work for the Ketchikan visitors center.

Ketchikan was amazing and our favorite port!! We did a super fun trolley ride! So informative!! Also, those were 100% jellyfish

Ha, this is going to feature in my vlogs in 2 weeks - I loved the show!
Another great clog! Alaska was the best cruise we have taken! I hope to go back again someday!

Discovered your channel with the Alaskan videos. Amazing!!! New subscriber now. Look forward to seeing more vlogs.
Bravo You can tell a cruise story better than anyone! Thank you for sharing so many things about the Alaska cruise I had not thought about! I definitely want to go next year!
I spotted my server Noel in the conga line from my previous Alaskan cruise!
Thanks so much for sharing!!! Now I want to go to Alaska!!! Sooooo pretty ❤️❤️❤️ I’ve never been on a Disney Cruise, next year will be my first and I can’t wait 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Alcohol- there are quite a few bars, but yeah lots of trails, and a boat is a must.
The instrument is a saxophone! 😊🎷😊 I'm a flute player but I just love the sax!!

Mardi Gras night looks like so much fun
Cannot wait for my Alaskan cruise in September. I only wish it was on DCL.

Woah, this is great! So you're saying you just walked off the ship and into a lumberjack show? My guess is you saved a lot of money that way.
Love your videos & travels!! 😎

The Disney part reminds me of the fireworks tag they just tact onto shows.
But you have to appreciate the Disney difference. The fact that they plussed a shore excursion is pretty cool.
You should book the 9 day cruise July 2023 for new places and experiences.
The whale towel animal is by far the best!! 🐋
It wouldn’t Be Disney if you didn’t get off a “ride” without a gift shop 😂
Thank you so much for this amazing vlog!!
Hi there! Considering the shopping, where do you recommend going to purchase a Burl Bowl?
I did the non-disney show, and it was the EXACT same show, minus goofy
Where did you buy your binoculars?
new sub here love this channel
Yesssss more content. ❤️❤️

I love Boudin! We smoke ours and eat it with crackers
YAAAAAAAAAS.
We are really enjoying your Alaskan cruise videos!
