Thanks for the video, I've been using the Silk Drive as a preamp on my board with an IR loader, and this series is very underrated, I don't see why it's not on pedalboards. Great review!
Good video, and very timely! I just got a Silk Drive, and use it with my Monoprice Tube 15. It works nicely as pre-amp in the FX return, but I have to say I like it best in front of the amp (always on) and WITH the cabinet simulator ON--it sweetens the Monoprice and gives it better chime and sparkle. When used as a pre-amp I found I had to turn volume and gain up too high.
Great tip
I use the Mystic Edge as my amp since my AC10 died. Also tried the Iridium but liked the Vox more once I figured out how to tame the brightness
Great to know
When you break into the Pantera riff -nice!
Eh! Eh!
I have that original vox overdrive too. It was my first OD. Looking at these NU tube ones now. Thanks for the review.
Thanks
Probably no surprise that a Vox pedal nails the Vox sound more than any other. :)
Eh! Eh! I’ve never thought about it that way!!!!
Hey Budda, as always, I enjoy your videos. I've seen many videos on the mystic edge but was still hesitant, but if it's Budda approved then I am curious to hear it on my new ToneKing Gremlin 🤘
Great! Thanks a lot
marshall + les paul = gods tone.
awesome playing as always!
Thanks a lot
I have 3 pedals. It so cool! Very underrated pedals.
Really great pedals
You might have some signal level issues there. When set to preamp, the output is line level; that might be too hot for your effects loop, you might be getting some unwanted clipping of the signal (to me, that first use of the ac30 sound into the loop return did not sound good). You can hear the volume drop when you switched to pedal mode with the copperhead when going into the front of the amp, around 28mins in. You should adjust pedal and amp for best tone at that level. When you switched to preamp mode, you got an increase to line level signal and you overdrive the amps preamp more, you probably got more of the tone from the amp and it just sounded better simply because it was louder. The preamp mode/line level signal is for studio rack effects loop and direct to daw without cab sim, so you can use your own IR. You got some great sounds with the LP and the copperhead, but I don't think the comparisons are valid.
I should add, I'm a fan of the channel and I've learned loads in the last couple of years, so thank you for what you do!
I didn’t fell that. And I actually had to adjust the amp for every setup of the pedal.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
I know these are designed for guitar but they should also work with synthesizers, but how do you think they would work as a pre-amp for a microphone input for vocals?
They might work but you would have to deal with impedance and Jack adapter
Ha, so it is not only me who always struggles to get all pitch harmonics right in Cemetery Gates. :)
Eh! Eh! Eh
Boutique means all hand wired with selected parts. Como companhias pequenas
I know that. But it leaves a lot open options
Boutique style mano... Não de seleção de componentes muito provável... Probably just "boutique" style for marketing specific niche that is trying to say: "cleanish but it's NOT Fender guys"... So it's not a Fender emu for me, probably the Sr was right about the Dumbleish kinda vibe, can be also based on Magnatone or something else, but much probably based on Dumble stuff.
