    Thanks for the demo. I've recenty bought Silk Drive and pretty happy with this using as a preamp either simple OD pedal. It gets along with TS and other od pedals very well in my point of view. Great clean tone!

    I wonder how synthesizers would sound through this? Some synth players put them through guitar amps, and I love the oscilloscope!

    I use the silk drive though a Fromel modded Fender Hot Rod Deluxe as my primary clean channel and it sound blissfully unreal. Very sweet clean sound. Thanks for this (and every) review.

      Yeah I’m sold on Silk to push any number of things, a little pricy to run in stereo so in reality I want a stereo preamp version like the valvetronix in a desktop or rack with foot pedal but with configurable effects chain like the ancient Digitech 2101 but with the knob per function layout blah blah blah - well in other words I expect to see more fun products and as an electronics hobbyist find this to sound like a dream come true.

      Cool! I'm also having Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and considering Silk Drive. You have just blown out my hesitation) Thanks, man

    The cutting edge's tight knob rolls off the frequency below 100Hz, which makes a big difference for low tuning. Pedal's amazing on preamp mode.

      Should have tried it with a baritone. Yeah, it can get really aggressive :)

    I liked the electrotest for buffer and current apart from the rest of this nice video. And someone finally tries to look for the tube itself.

    Those nutubes are very small like chip size. Id love to hear them. Maybe one day they will come in a tube socket adapter if revular tube actually go away. Id like to try putting the silk drive in the loop of a solid state amp at a low volume

    Very nice demo! When you use the CAB M do you also use the power amp sim?
    Loved you AMT V1 demo. When would you choose the Vox Mystic Edge over the AMT V1?

    • @MaxSoloMusic
      @MaxSoloMusic  2 года назад +1

      No, I'm still on the old firmware that doesn't have the power amp sim. I find the Mystic Edge slightly more flexible than V1. It also get's closer to the AC30 sound

    I wonder if, for example Copperhead set at low gain would work with a fuzz or a RAT in front of it?

  • @someoneelse101
    @someoneelse101 2 года назад +1

    It's a toss between Mystic Edge and Copperhead Drive for me. The latter is kinda passive aggressive if that makes sense

    What I wanted to know is at the last minute. What's which one good for? The one I'm most interested in remains shrouded in mystery. No one knows what Silk is for.

    About 10:34, I have always thought that single coil would not be the best for driven sounds, and in particular the neck one. Now, Hendrix and Blackmore would probably demonstrate the opposite. But the main question remains : does this Valvenergy concept realy work well? Demonstrations always look nice. But Max does not hide the fact that if you buy through his links he has an interst in it. So this video is a demonstration, not a critical analysis and I did not find a lot of those. People seem to be very happy with the Silk and also the Cutting edge. Pre-amp and Cab are probably the positions making most sense. If the idea of the Copperhead is to emulate a Marshall, what sense does it realy make to send it into a Vox AC30 in STD mode? I have tried the Copperhead in STD mode through a Roland JC50 (very clean high headroom Amp). The resulting sound was not much convincing to me (compared to other emulators including the Vox Tonelab or the Strymon Iridium). I found it too synthetic/artificial. It seems though that this Marshall sound is one of the most difficult sound to emulate. It would be nice if someone was in a position to make a comparative video with the Copperhead for instance into a very clean Amp, a Power cab, and a PA compared to a real Marshall I guess.

      We have this but against a Class 5 Marshall : ruclips.net/video/RJ4urnokWIE/видео.html. I suppose it works enough in a no Amp situation.

    Sounds like you are more into metal or rock, so I can't really judge. It all sounds the same - especially through my tribute Bluetooth speaker.
    I had hopes for tube (nu tube and normal) pedals but they never really took off. I think distortion is more about EQ then the difference between a tube distortion and a diode distortion.
    I'm still waiting for a good digital solution that's cheap.
