He did two tricks that were ignored. He started a wave and he did his tongue thing again. He’s a cutie. Its very cool that Luna is working with Brandon.
I haven't watched the video yet but I hope this helps me bc I have a Blue and Gold macaw (rescue bird) who's rlly anxious around anything and he's been neglected for his whole life by his owners and his diet was strictly sunflower seeds and barely got any fruits or vegetables. I've been trying my best with him, respecting his boundaries on how close I should be with him and he's been warming up to me and I can see how playful and smart he is. I have a hands off rule (no petting) unless he shows me that he wants me to. I'm trying my best to build a bond and trust with him. Love your videos they helped me a lot since I really didn't know much about macaws and like I suddenly got one and didn't know what to do so I did research and I found ur channel and some other great stuff! :) Thank you so much you really helped me!
Both the Trainer, and the Beautiful Bird, are on the Same page! The Bird is intuitive! wants to feel Loved, and understood. Enjoy watching Luna, Lovely!😊
Poor birdy, so terrified. Would love to know more about his story and why he was so traumatized. Was he abused in his previous home? Thank you, bird tricks, for helping people to get their birds on the right diet and to train them to overcome their previous neglect and fears to allow them to live their best lives.
Some birds are simply like that. I hand raised my amazon parrot and other ones and out of all of them my bird has social anxiety with people he doesnt know no matter how much I try to socialize him with other peoplr he simply wont be comfortable. He's loved, has many toys and is very lovely to us
Poor Luna💙If only these animals could show us their past. Or maybe its better we don't know. My cockatiel would definitely need time. We've had quite a breakthrough with the target training which is incredible. Small, repetition tricks get millet, hemp seed as medium and sunflower seeds for jackpot.
This was such an incredible training video! You can tell how much he wants to do it, he’s just unsure of the environment. It would be really amazing to see videos of the owners doing the training in his environment and how he reacts. It would provide so much additional education. Wonderful video 🥰
I’d like to have my caique as a class pet I take home every day when I get my own classroom. I know he warms up to people if given enough time, but I know the feeling of wanting your bird to be more social!
I taught the spin by having my hand and a treat under the perch on the open side of the perch. I taught 5 of my parrots to do this in about 15 minutes. I teach turn around (turn to the left) and spin (turn to the right) and the spin is two turns.

13:20 - it seems like Luna just didn't want to turn her back to Dave, maybe if Dave had moved around to behind the stand then she would have comfortably turned around for him
Would walking around the T stand with the target stick help him initially? Maybe not making him feel like something was coming over the top? After a day or two of full rotations then work on standing still and just moving the target? I’d love to know your thoughts.
Seems like stepping up to an arm would promote shoulder rushing rather than the hand. You loose control not being able to keep your control and not theirs.
I have recently adopted a Scarlet (8 yrs old) and a GW (33 yrs old), both males, from separate homes. After several months they still try to bite me when I'm giving them a treat. So how do I train and reward with food? Do I simply put the treat on a paper plate or only use long treats like a banana lol? I've had parrots for over 30 yrs but I'm a little stumped by their response to hand feeding treats. Love you guys. Thx from Canada
I’ve just taken a Congo grey of 26 years old. Owner died Wife hated the bird and deliberately admitted she used to antagonise bird with flick it. I’m the bird person here have a grey 21 years. Bird has taken a real shine to husband lol he’s having to help but struggling. Is there a chance we can help this bird she 26 I’m second home ? Thanks 🙏 for your incredible wisdom I truly appreciate
Do you notice his hesitancy to cross his foot over the other? It’s definitely the reaction you’ve touched on being a predatory animal not being comfortable with over the head action - and in he’s learned to compensate his own actions of avoiding the overhead anxiety by focusing on squatting down to get the vision of the overhead movement. In this case, it’s exactly the same remedy either way, the bird needs to slowly adjust to more socialization first to relax, but the only reason for my comment was to explain the slightly different explanation for the avoidance behavior

My friend has an African Grey that is on a seed diet and is never out of his cage. She no longer wants this bird and is allowing me to have him. I was in a serious motorcycle accident on New Year’s Eve leaving me unable to work so I have plenty of time for this bird. It is kind of a healing process for both of us. This bird is a biter and is afraid to come out of his cage. I just need to know where to begin. My first goal is to get him on a pellet dies I plan on doing this by mixing pellets with a microwaved sweet potato. Hopefully he enjoys sweet potato. Once I have him on a pellet diet I hope to start target training but I am unclear where to start everything. When she brings him to me do I put him straight into the cage where he is most comfortable or do I just set him down and allow him to do his own thing? I just don’t want to start off wrong with him. He seems to enjoy being around me but every time I approach him I can give him a quick pet but then he immediately goes to try to bite me. It’s not a quick bite like a snapping turtle but a methodical bite going in slow then biting. I hope this makes since. The bird is 17 years old and has spent the last 9 years in his cage. I do not plan on keeping his cage constantly closed any longer and would like him to be able to come and go as he wants while awake. Any suggestions or advise? I am a new follower and just don’t know where to begin and don’t know how to introduce him to his new environment.
My 2 Green cheek Conures just tear up their nest box wether it is wood or anything. And my cockatoo is mean and bites everybody except me. What is going on here?
I really dont like the clicking thing... Are bigger parrots harder to train? What does clicking do their brain? Or ears? What are the negatives vs good things for the animals? Or is just because its a faster way of training? Why not love the bird, spend time with him instead and let him come to you on his own? I just have this weird Pavlov feeling about it.....
I learned about clicker training as a teenager when I was training a pair of puppies. The sound of clicker is very unique and short, so it serves as a very definite signal to the animal that the behavior happening when the click occurs is the behavior that earned them the reward. Dolphin trainers use the same method but with a whistle instead of a clicker. It’s incredibly effective for communicating with your animal exactly what behavior you’re after.
Why click at all. Use your voice. Its not that hard and these people call themselves trainers. I dont even think they see these animals as animals but as products. I ain't never seen this clicking shit and most parrots, even big ones were very tame and understood what was going on. This kind of conditioning is just weird

The audience from China, learning and growing, thank you~~~~~
What kind of parrots are popular in China?

Definitely need more videos on anxious birds and how to work through the problems. Many people just give up or assume it's undealable with.
What a beautiful Blue & Gold. 💙💛
A very handsome birb with a nice polished beak! And however traumatic his past, it didn’t turn him into a self mutilator. Gorgeous boi.
I like the way Dave trims his beard.
This gives me hope!
yesss new viddd
So cool!! I just posted my first video with my scarlet macaw. Thanks for the inspo! :)
What a great session! Thanks for showing the troubleshooting! 🙏
Can you do a video with a golden conure, have you ever trained with one before??? I want to have him become my stress relief animal!!
I rescued a 4 yr old cocky, very scared of me, l adore him, give him loads of time and this reaction is tons better.
Bless you for doing rescue! Best of luck with him or her.
Great video, thanks 👍

where is the Amazon video in this masterclass?
Luna is very beautiful. when he lifts both wings isn’t that an eagle?
Hi, does this work for ducks?
How is Luna today??? Please I was so concerned for her bleeding and I have NOT heard anything yet 😢
Most interesting

My bird becomes way too aggressive when we do training. Once I break out the treats she instantly goes into fight mode
Hi Jamie I have a stubborn budgie. Any tips?

I have a few questions about my Bared Eyed Cockatoo and 2 Green Cheek Conures that i would really loved answered could you plz help?
My 2 Green cheek Conures just tear up their nest box wether it is wood or anything. And my cockatoo is mean and bites everybody except me. What is going on here?
Check the Description Box for their contact info. Good luck!
My budgies toenail is coming off, what should i do?
Take your bird to an avian vet ASAP
What happens when I don't bond with my bird ?
You’d have a sad and lonely bird, is my guess. If that happens, I’d consider getting a companion for your bird. Good luck!
❤️👍🏻
I wonder if Luna didn’t like the hat. No one else has a hat on that I could see.
Jamie does mention that in her conclusion to the video.

He does step down easily. Why are you not clicking and rewarding and staying step down…..
Because he already steps down easily? No reward needed.

This bird is not a shoulder rusher I wishhh thank god my bird stopped
I think it's a little much to pay so much for a darn t- shirt seriously not happening!!!!
You have a lot of patience. I would've knocked your husband out long ago.
Luna in girls name
No.
It can be anyones name but they probably named it thinking it was a female when it wasn’t.
All animals are the same. They don't worry about names vs gender. Just be consistent with their name
luna is a female name and it's bizarre to call a male by female name
