So many nice memories of my favourite vehicle... My 92 model xr2 never put a foot wrong, and was an absolute joy to drive.... Zippy turbo muscle from a very small engine and you felt like you drove it rather than just steered it.... Total joy to drive even with its qwirks... Remembered very fondly !
The turbos are quicker than a Torana GTR XU1. No kidding. The best thing about them is they are fun to drive..and everyone customises them to their own taste. Reliable, fast and comfortable.
Hi Just watched your clip..! Great work Sir..! I have recently bought my second Ford Capri but this one is the Turbo XR2. 1992. I found it in a Barn and Paid $1000. With only 68k on odometer. Needing Tyres, Radiator and a Shite load of Suspension Rubber parts replacing. But She Flys like a Rocket. Turbo kicks in and 100 k's plus is a Distant memory..! How long I keep my 12 points is up for Debate. But am Enjoying the Old Girl to bits..!! Thx for the clip and happy Capri- ing..! Kim in S.Aus.
Thank you so much for your comment and feedback. Your XR2 Turbo barn find sounds fantastic & a great buy. Great work getting it back on the road. Thanks for watching & enjoy Capri-ing. cheers, Ric, Indep Aussie Car Reviews.
Hi Again, using Real name not 'Samurai Fool.' I am still driving the $1500 'Barn find.' And am loving her. Gradually fixing Niggles and now have just Clocked up 80k on the Odometer. Upgraded Brakes front and Back with Slotted Discs and Brembo pads. Which has Sharpened up the System. Bigger Bore Exhaust ( Stainless, cost a Bit but now sound Fantastic.) Under advice from my Local Capri Guru. ( Thanks Ian. ) I now have a Shed full of New and Hard to find parts. Guru advised Extra Adjustments to Air intake which improves the Old Girls 'Get up and Gone,' ability. Hope your still running yours. If you dont have bad Knees and no Kids their very Underated..! My Old Girls a Keeper. Hope yours is too..!! Cheers Again, Kim in Sth Aust. 😎
P.s. the Price went up, as I paid an Extra $500 for the Hard top that the Previous owner found and had Stashed Away, which I payed $500 for after posting first comment. $500 for a Hard top that was in need of Work seemed a 'NoBrainer.!' It Needed a Respray and New Seals. But havent tried fitting as yet..! How Difficult that will be is yet to be found..! Anyhow $1000 or $1500 it was one of my Best ever Buys..! Cheers Again..! 😎
Ford laser has many parts also. I use boot polish to keep the soft top roof soft & shiny & I put noise cancelling strips you can get from the reject shop for $2 a roll. I love it. Got a bit sunburnt driving from Brisbane to Port Macquarie but hey, stupidity on my behalf lol.
I got 3 of these cars. The barchetta is being stored in its original condition still with cassette player for a collector to part with some big $$$$ in maybe 15 years. But the others are pimped. So much negative reviews but i love them, never had a problem.
Hi! I’m having issues with right headlight. The motor does work but the headlight won’t come up. Is it an issue with the relay? If so where is it located?
Not bad mate bit of wind noise. But you couldve done the little stunners a bit more justice. Id had 4 of them and my favourite would be the clubsprint to drive and the north american export of the last few SE's mercury xr2 turbo's over there they were packed with so much more.. and the interior is and was packed with more detail and of course twin srs air bags and not a giant hole in passenger side dash also cruise & audio steering mounted controls on the mercury air bag equipped steering wheel. Our capris are always dear to me especially the SE models. Far more updated than SA, - SC, my stock audio system was perfect. Stacker built in amp. Etc a much better update with many things. Even though i feel after driving a mercury capri in the states i must say, We were jipped lol. Anyways. Glad u gave it a review either way. Cheers ears.
Great question. If you pick one up in good condition with a well maintained softtop or an optional removable hardtop absolutely still a works as a daily driver.
I've had people walk up to me & offer $10,000 for my Buchetta cruise control, turbo convertible. I always say ""NO". It is such a fun car to own. Of course my car is pimped & no collector will buy it as I have made many alterations. The led blue underbelly glow at night is awesome. So many people rubbish them but I know what I have & will never part with her.
@@BausHogg I'm in aus and no, he simply has no idea, it's a mix over here of measuring as we have a very multi cultural society. But Nano mtrs makes no sense, he is the sort of guy that would think a supercharger is an alternator 😂
Good call. My bad. Unscripted and unrehearsed so I stuffed up on those 2 points. Fatal mistake thinking whilst talking on camera! Thanks for the feedback. Ric IACR.
Nano or Newton metres of torque?! Mazda sourced engine same as found in KE Laser TX-3 Turbo from Oct 1987 till end of 1989. The non-turbo was a single OHC EFI normally aspirated engine found in the KC Laser TX3. Best thing you can do is fit a small Momo leather steering wheel, one of the dumbest things was that two spoke steering wheel adapted straight from a base model Laser GL. A decent steering wheel makes it a lot better thing.
Thanks for your comment. Apologies re the poor sound quality. This was our first youtube video. New lapel microphone just been purchsed for upcoming videos.
Thank you so much for your comment & feedback. Fair Call. Unscripted so I blurted out Nanometres rather tha Newton Metres. Will improve in future videos. Thanks from Ric Independent Aussie Car reviews.

You might want to do this somewhere besides a busy freeway.

Hi! I’m having issues with right headlight. The motor does work but the headlight won’t come up. Is it an issue with the relay? If so where is it located?
Built in Australia but body shell designed by Ghia and an interior by ItalDesign.

Thanks for your comment. I agree the SEs and Clubsprints are the best. A pity Ford Australia made the best equipped ones for the US, not Aus.
I was in a Ford Laser 4WD with the same engine.
Ford Lasers have same parts as well. I have 2. Best fun ever driving them.
Great Video!
Can I use this car for daily drive like for work n go home. ?

Newton meters bro not Nano meters !
And it’s Clubsprint not Clubsport lol

I love mine even if it isnt a turbo Clubsport-best thing living in the tropics is it was double dipped galvanised-no rust ! good review-thanks !
Thanks for your comment and mentioning the galvanisation process. No rust apparent in my Capris.
I thought it was Tickford that did the double dipping and that the other models were single, I might be wrong, but someone once told me that.
Hey, since you own one, do you think the car can be drived on a daily basis? Or us it a weekend kind of car?
I use mine for weekends. If you pick one up with a good soft top or a hardtop could be used as a daily driver.
Is this a Mazda engine
Yes it is.
@@raz592 Oic thx

184 Nano meters of torque really..
What about the big power stero
Cmon dont be too harsh. he seemed a bit nervous.. he will get better.. at.
