I've been looking for something simple but useful for Christmas gifts I could make. (I know it's early but it goes so fast!) and here it is! Brilliant video thanks Matt!

One suggestion, be careful, making cutting boards is extremely fun and once you make one your gonna wanna make another one :)

Nicely done. I recommend leaving the board sit in the mineral oil then flip it everyday for four days in order for the wood to soak up the oil. It's permanent then. (I use a large rubbermaid container with a lid to tank it, then use a cookie grill laid across the container to drip off the excess then wipe dry after a few hours... works great and ready for the next board)

Love the comment about pouring a laxative all over a piece..Great laugh. Thanks. I have been making cutting boards this wee and was heading out today just to put on the mineral oil..

Nice job Matt. Maple and cherry work and look nice together also. I use a follower board to prevent tear out at the end on the router. I also have started using a finish coat of mineral oil and beeswax. Prevents you from having to re-oil the board as often. I've always used Titebond II with no issues as you generally don't soak a cutting board when rinsing and you dry it off immediately. Just store standing on edge if you leave it on the counter so it doesn't find itself sitting in water.

+Mike Kapotsy Thanks Mike, I wanna get some beeswax for a topcoat!

looks really great. I have been making a few cutting boards as well but find it a challenge to get a nice tight glue joint. Did you have any such issues using just your table saw? I have a jointer and even with new blades and spending significant time adjusting everything, I still have some minor issues with gap.
