The marching bit is essentially the middle of Deep Purple's "Child in Time" (1970) one of the greatest metal songs of all time. I believe Miyako was a Deep Purple fan.
@deejayem56 yeah it's the same cadence but with the way it's played closer to Am I Evil for what immediately came to mind. Organ/Synth on Child in Time. This is a bit more menacing
LOVEBITES - Edge Of The World lyrics & credits: Why do we learn to hate, deceive and lie, hurt each other? Why does it never end? The sorrow keeps on repeating Wailing, come downpours of the rain Will it end? No one ever knows Wondering, what only time can tell What is at the end of life? Why do we only see our own desires? Impressive, isn't it? But that shouldn't surprise us, because they are Lovebites ... and one of the most spetacular bands on the Metal circuit. It's the display of perfection on all counts.
Don't worry, you won't sound like a chain smoker when you're 42, not unless you are one, of course 😂 Take it from me, I'm 49, and haven't smoked a cigarette in my life. Nice reaction 😁👍 Lovebites always deliver. They "Stand and Deliver" even. You'll get to that one soon enough if you continue down this rabbit hole. They also have some thrash metal tunes, like Break the Wall, Set the World On Fire, Thunder Vengeance, The Hammer of Wrath, Dissonance, and M.D.O.
This song is an epic masterpiece and it's melodic storytelling at its finest. BTW, "Memorial for the Warrior Souls" is the name of the LIVE album which this video clip came from.
Such a good LOVEBITES song, like most of their other songs :D Sorry to hear about the sore throat Wyllow, though if you are thinking of doing a Broken By The Scream vocal cover at any point, now's the time.
Regarding this having many parts and throwing a lot of different details at you - well, "Edge of the World" can be seen as the LOVEBITES answer to Prog. If "real" Prog confuses you or leaves you cold, this might appear challenging as well... but sure as hell will not leave you cold! 🥲 LOVEBITES approach the concept "the old way" - a Progressive epic that concentrates not on mind-boggling breakdowns or show-off moments for the sake of prolonging the song, but on the storytelling aspect, and how each part can work to the benefit of the song, building it inexorably towards the majestic climax and release. Those lyrics are really involving, and if more people took them to heart, that would be for the better! In my books, all this is ace songwriting, a Top-10 song from them for sure... higher up, when it "harmonizes" with my mood on the day... 😀 Asami's voice, quite singular in the Japanese Metal scene for its depth and range, is a big part of that, surely. Some fans prefer the older Live version of "Edge of the World", but this is truly stellar and shows the band with a renewed energy after a tougher period involving the Covid shutdown and search for a new member. Lastly, you probably should get acquainted with this song's studio version, since it comes in a little different arrangement. You can see for yourself if it will leave a more "unified" impression, but not at the cost of the broad palette of emotions!
@@WyllowWisp Yup! A lot of information, including the visuals! Not only the camera angles and the smoke - even the lighting is meticulously done with a purpose! Like, whenever it turns red on LOVEBITES' songs - beware! :)) But at the same time, the whole package does create some sensory "overload". Thanks for reacting! \m/
Not quite what you expected from Lovebites I bet! This is Asami getting back to her R and B roots, great vocals! Miyaco doing her thing on the piano and guitar with Midori joining in with guitar and as always Haruna hammering the drums like crazy. Miho on bass doing the song justice too! The new bassist Fami I think is better, but that’s for later on perhaps! Yep Asami has got great pipes, a true pro! Enjoyed your rundown, looking forward to more!
Welcome back to the Ladies of Lovebites Wyllow. Sorry to hear you have a sore throat (voice) hope you fell better soon. Please take a look at the music video of the song Revive by the band Nemophila and the song Reincarnation live by the band Aldious. Best wishes to you from France.
One later part of the song sound like DEEP PURPLE song CHILD IN TIME from 1970's. ASAMI "ONE and ONLY VOICE" and CHARMING YOUNG WOMAN. Perfect drummer HARUNA. Twin SISTERS MIYAKO and MIDORI. BEAUTIFUL YOUNG PERFECT bassist FAMI.
In private: LOVEBITES today are sounding better than Deep Purple ever did, because they're so much better musicians and we have digital recording techniques today. . . .but Ian Gillan admittedly is still a phenomenon . . .
This song is a masterpiece.
At 4' 10", Asami (vocals) is an absolute powerhouse. This song is a masterpiece. 🤘

There are two levels of LOVEBITES. Excellent or Masterpiece. This is one of the earliest examples of the latter.
So true . . .
this song is like a musical 3 act play - this is one the few bands that can make a 7 minute song seem like 3.

@@boyzyu Aaah, that makes sense! Thank you!
I would guess they got the title from the name of the place " Showa Women's University Hitomi Memorial Hall"?
@@andreaspedersen3952 That's a good point. You might be right and they also wanted something that started with "M"
@@boyzyu I thought, this was confirmed (both, the requirement for a title with "M" and referring to the place of the venue with "Memorial"!)...

Mao? That is Fami, the current bass player. The original bassist was Miho.
@ my bad, This was older it was Miho on bass and Mao was involved in the production.
