Hey! Thank you for this video! I assigned the expression pedal of my RC300 to adjust the volume of the microphone in, but it just turns it on when down and off when up. It doesn't have the gradual effect you expect from a volume pedal. Do you have any idea why and what I can do to fix that? Thank you so much! 🙏
This is such a useful video. I have been trying to fade tracks with the track faders, which I find very difficult as they are sticky. This is going to help me out immensely! Was this in the manual? Do you have any new tips?
I have the volume pedal to control all 3 tracks at the same time. The tracks however are stored as individual tracks and the volume can be adjusted manually by a volume control to the right of the info screen on the RC50.
Yes, you have to set your settings for each memory however, I created a blank memory that has all the settings as I like it. That becomes my blank default memory. I can then write that blank memory to a new memory number. I hope that helps.
Thanks Brother. Youll be my go to for anything on the RC300. I bought one in 2012 also. I got the Essentials down, but the other bells & whistles are options I just want to explore. I Definitely Learned a few new things today. Thanks Man. I like that; "Ciao for Now"...David Wills @ proaudiodvd uses that "Expression" too. :) God Bless Ya Man :)
ok I get it - so you just did it with one and, in case you want to store those loops, you just copy them in another memory bank right? and what about the fx question? can I still use the EXP1 pedal as an FX controller when LOOP FX is on? or would it still work as a volume pedal for the tracks?
I believe the pedal will continue to work when the FX is on however, I have never found a use for any of the FX's so you'll have to let me know if I'm correct with my assumption.
The volume for each track can be adjusted manually by a volume control to the right of the info screen on the RC50. There are individual faders on the RC300. You can also save the individual volume settings. Or have each tracks volume pre-set and saved before you begin recording.
(from previous message)...the thing is, I want it to ALWAYS be like that, for every memory... I just like working that way. is there a way to make that option default?? I guess it should be obviously be there somewhere, but I can't figure it out... and also - by setting up the pedal for volume control, would it also work like that if FX is on? or will it change to work as an FX parameter control? cheers from buenos aires!!
I have assigned the Exp 1 pedal on the RC300 to control the overall volume however, I've never tried assigning an external pedal to control individual (memory) phrase tracks. You'll have to consult the manual for that one.

Huh, nearly 10 years now, and still a question :) how did you record the rhythm? Is your sub output being routed to the input? I am on 1.05 and recording the rhythm to a track seems not possible, or I am not seeing it. Thanks :)
I've never used the unit to pause in the middle of the loop. You will have to experiment with that one yourself to find out. My feeling is that once you stop the loop it will always reset to play from the beginning once you start it again. So using the volume pedal to create a rest within the loop was a great feature for my performance.
hey man, how are you, I have a new question - a friend of mine has an RC-50 and he can use an external exp pedal to control the volume of each track (the RC-50 let's you "select" each phrase) it's there a way around this for the RC-300? thanks!
hey john, great video! I was going insane trying to figure out how to enter the menu to assign functions to external pedals, seems like the manual doesn't explain how to get there! anyway, I have a couple of questions for you: first of all, my main concern: I wanted to make loops sync but allowing me to record longer phrases (ie: track 2 beeing double of track 1) and I found that I can do that by setting tempo sync off... (continues in next message)
Hi there,I am getting better with my rc300, but.... it seems that when I use the guitar to bass effect, the sound is coming out warbly or modulating out of tune. Have you ever experienced this? I would like to use the guitar to get a decent bass sound without having to change instruments, is the effect just crappy or possibly a defect, or am I missing something, I was directing the effect to channel 3, and had it outputed to the sub ( to a bass amp).....as well as the rythym. Thanks.
hi,i have a question...are there any more effects besides the already programmed effects that i can download and upload on my rc-300? greetings, daniel.
Hey John, This video was helpful, thanks for making it. However, my main question that I'm having trouble finding the answer to is how to assign the expression pedal to control the volume of just one of the 3 tracks as opposed to the whole thing. Have you had any luck finding this or know of anywhere that has the answer? Thanks again.
Hey John, me again......I tried your technique of recording some drums on ch 3, it seems that if there is something playing on track 1 or 2 you cannot stop the drums from ch 3....If I turn off the rhythm it is super faint on ch 3......like it never recorded it.....Is there any way to be able to turn the drums off any time you like? Can a footswitch accomplish this?...I also tried using the loop effects button as stop/start for the drums, but again it stops if nothing is playing... thanks.
great video John, I have a question. On my RC-300 when I edit the rhythm to Sub Only output, it still plays through the main output. Is there a reason for this, and if so how do I get the rhythm track to output only to sub and not main?
Hey John, thank you for your RC-300 tips! I've found your videos helpful in building my setup. It's basically a "Super Looper" with a ton of gear. I just posted an original track called "Dreamer", I'd appreciate it if you'd stop by and let me know what you think :) And for all of you loopers out there just getting started, if you have any questions about my setup or the RC-300 let me know. Cheers, and happy looping! Jeremy
can i also control the single track-volume independently with the pedal? like 2 tracks are playing, fade out track 1, switch to running track 2 and fade it out seperately?
Hi thx for the video. I do have a question. My sound guitare get messy when using the exp 1 pushed down. Also when i started using my exp 1 to control the rythm it did work well but my sound guitar stayed messy even when the exp1 pedal was up. How can i fix it ? thx
Is it possible to use pedal to control input volume? I can get it to mute input/overall volume but not set it up to fade as you press the pedal Any hints?
haha yes most effects are pretty vomit-inducing - but a few are OK (tempo delays for example) and I'm mainly interested in doing more experimental stuff with processed voices and weird instruments... I'll try it out! also a tip for you or anyone that might be reading (maybe it's in the manual, but I haven't read it all): all STOP pedals work as tap tempo (as long as the track is not playing, of course)
For the past 2 months I have a problem that has stopped my master volume from working. It is a new purchase about 6 months old. I have not treated the equipment rough. I have no idea what the problem is. HELP!?

Hello, it helps a problem with my microphone, it is recording very well and my guitar and piano, all very well, but when everything is already recorded and I want to sing it does not sound, it sounds very low, far away, I am supposed to keep the volume, what is it to sing, what happens??... I do my loops very well and they sound good, but when I want to sing the microphone is heard at a very low 1%
@@JohnGilliat I have never used... I use a Shure PG58 But it is strange because I see in other videos, people singing with the same microphone that loops and once the loops are done, the microphone is at a good level to sing over the recorded tracks
Hi my name is Tito I see your demonstration you do so good congratulations, I have a question is how to do pause when you play back send a email please thank you.
I wish I could like this more than once!
Thanks heaps John
Hello ! Thanks for the video, well is it possible to assign this particular volume control to all the memories ?
Thanks for sharing the info. I've considered using the rc 300. It's great to see you demo it and perform with. You sound great!
so well explained !!! thanks !! even for a french Girl , your accent is clear!! THANKS 888

Hey John, great videos you have, very useful. I have a question , can you assign to control de volume of each track separately?
Nice song in the background :). Thanks for the lesson
Excellent demo
Thank you 😊
Hi John, very informative cheers buddy, is there a way of assigning the exp pedal as a main master volume for the incoming mic only?
I have the volume pedal to control all 3 tracks at the same time. The tracks however are stored as individual tracks and the volume can be adjusted manually by a volume control to the right of the info screen on the RC50.

Thank you for your tip. Is it possible to use any external or internal pedal to write a track instead of "write" button?
I haven't used my RC300 for quite a while now however, I don't believe you can assign an internal or external pedal to activate the write function.

Cool, thx for the tip. Btw, is your RC300 updated to ver 1.03? I'll add the link in my video description.

Do you know if it's possible to have different fade out times for different tracks?
Will I be able to increase rhythm speed by using this assign trick? and how?
thanks for your video
get a boss OC3. Tried my old korg toneworks, and an EH whammy 5. Neither worked as good as the OC3
Thanks for the vid man!
Hey everyone, Boss now has an update to end the "too busy" RC300 freeze. Be sure to visit the Roland site to update your OS to vs 1.03.
Thank you so much for this video. It helps!

sir can u please tell me how to hook up my Fender Mustang 3 and my new pair of JBL 4300 monitors thank u very much Richard from Pittsburgh
thanks!
Hi! Could you tell me if its possible to hear rhythm track through headphones without being audible to audience?
Yes it is, assign the ryth trk to the sub output and use a mono to stereo adapter for your head phones
Ok, but I would also like to hear my loops in my headphones
send everything out to your mixing console and then put whatever you what into you monitors (aux) and only send the loops to the mains
Is it possible to use pedal to control input volume? I can get it to mute input/overall volume but not set it up to fade as you press the pedal

am I going to loose my recs with updating?
Anyone know how to fade out a single track? I've been trying to figure out if the individual track faders accept midi data but doesn't seem the case

just found out how, but it's version 1.0!
Yes, It's just a crappy effect. We're all experiencing the same problem with the effect. :-(
