    Excellent! I've used the RC300 for at least 11 years and it has been my main looper for playing professionally. Only stating that to explain that this looper is dependable. They do need to upgrading the recording quality from 16 bit. Anyway....you are helping a lot of loopers find their song and hone a craft. Thank you sir.

    THANK YOU THANK YOU! You are the ONLY guy demonstrating what I wanted to know about this pedal, which is: can you record two or three COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT tracks and sequence them in live performance. I am at a loss to understand how nobody else even talks about this since the typical song REQUIRES this! There is only one thing here that I am unclear about, which is the fact that you had to associate all these parameters with a particular memory location. It appears that you used the memory location (61) only to store the pedal behavior, and that the RC-300 did NOT require you to record anything into that memory location in order to use them, i.e. it appeared to me that you could have done this all totally live without having stored any recorded music into memory at all. Is that correct?

    • @DaveZiffer
      @DaveZiffer 4 года назад +1

      P.S. I just watched your channel promo video. I am so happy that you did not require me to have an interest in cats! So I just subscribed!

    • @deanwolfechannel
      @deanwolfechannel  4 года назад

      Yes, you can preprogram parameters on a say 61, and they wont change if saved. So you can revisit 61 anytime and record from scratch or save some basic tracks like I did, basically I laid down 3 parts of a songs bass tracks. Then I play and even do more layers but I dont save the additions, so when I come back to the 61 it's just the bass tracks.

      @@deanwolfechannel Just one more question before I go out and buy one (and stop bothering you). It'd be great if this unit could also replace my multi-efx box, which I use to switch instantly between two sounds: [1] reverb and [2] reverb + delay. I use the reverb as my default sound, including when recording loops, and reverb+delay for my "solos" and melodies (which I do not loop). On my RC-30, the efx can be applied only to the patches being played back, but not to the live played-thru sound. With the RC-300 I'd want to have [1] a default reverb sound used for the played-thru signal and also as a default effect on all looped tracks, and [2] a ping-pong delay that is added to the reverb and applied ONLY to the played-thru signal (never to a looped track), and even then only on demand. I realize this is asking a lot, but can the RC300 do this?

    • @DaveZiffer
      @DaveZiffer 4 года назад

      @@deanwolfechannel Looking at the owner's manual (heaven forbid!), it seems that I could set up the LOOP FX button to apply just to the INPUT. On this option's description it says that the effect gets recorded onto the tracks, so if I am doing everything totally live then all my looped tracks would get the same reverb that is being applied to my live signal, so I would not want to re-apply the reverb to any track (since the reverb is already recorded onto the track). Then when playing the track back, I would hear the reverb on the track from when I recorded it, and reverb would also be applied to my live playing that I am doing over the track. That's exactly what I want. Now for the solo FX. The manual says that the "track 3" pedals can be reassigned to select the effect being applied (rather than to handle a third track). Or maybe I can use an external FS6 footswitch pair to do this without sacrificing track 3? So then when soloing over a played-back track, I would select a reverb + delay effect combo to be applied ONLY to my solo (can multiple FX be specified?). Is this possible?

      @deanwolfechannel  4 года назад

      @@DaveZiffer have you joined the rc300 owners group on Facebook? You will instantly get 40 people replying to many of your questions. I dont use any effects on the rc300 but I know theres a universal reverb on it but I doubt theres anything like ping pong delay. I'd have to have a look see.

    I set all to what you said. When I record a loop on track 1, no problem. Then when I try to record on track 2, against my choice, when I hit stop it adds 2 seconds of dead air time before it ends the loop. This makes my whole song out of time. Do you know how to fix this?

    One quick question: can you do this live? It would be nice to, instead of pre record every single song, to build some of them live, with all 3 tracks. Do I start recording track one, then hit Rec/Play again to start the loop playback, then time is right and hit rec track 2? Would that stop track one? Obviously pre recording makes the most sense, but sometimes you just wanna do it live to have a specific feel or tempo in the moment. Thanks in advance. Yes, that's what I focussed on for this unit (creating backing tracks to play with solo live- did a few shows with it only). I moved toward the Boomerang looper for solo live work and it's my preferred set up at the moment... I sold the RC300 a while ago but if I can would buy a used one again if only for doing demo videos for RUclips and as people appreciate them!

      It may be an arbitary distinction, but while I love seeing someone with the technical prowess to do live looping, if I see an artist or band playing with backing tracks it makes me want to leave. It feels like watching karaoke with a guitar. I may be biased because my bread and butter is playing keys, and keyboard parts are usually the first to be swapped for backing tracks. @@deanwolfechannel

    Great video! Very easy to follow!
    I read through a few comments on the video and you mentioned that you own a RC-30 as well.
    I was just wondering if the RC-30 is able to queue tracks as well. (Just the verse & chorus). I’m looking for a pedal that can fit on my pedalboard and i have just enough space to put the RC-30 in my board.
    I know that the Xvive Duet Looper is able to record both verse and chorus but there is not a save bank or a drum machine so it’s not really useful when playing live.
    Please let me know the question about the RC-30 when you can.
    Happy Holidays!

      Sadly you cant do verse chorus per se on an rc30, the two tracks do not play in series, but I've seen it used verse/chorus with a song in a sneaky way of composing a song and using undo/redo.
      I'll put a link here asap.

    It seems like everyone else who makes reviews of the rc-300 uses the three tracks to overdub three layers over a simple loop. Why don't the majority of users understand how to use this pedal for its intended capabilities?

    Brilliant Dean!! and I Subbed You... Please answer this Q: Once you’ve setup and identified your 3 sections, can you ‘add to’ them? Meaning - can you overdub a guitar part onto the verse, then a different guitar part onto the Chorus and Bridge etc? Or maybe just ‘stack’ some vocal harmonies onto the Chorus (so they only appear there). Please reply - I’d love to know this... 😊. Ttfn, Ukulele Bobby, UK. 🌸 ( o)==:: 🌺

      Ck out pt 2 I get into that. You can layer on top and keep it so it's there whenever you return to the patch, or layer and dont save it so your basic tracks never go away unless you erase it. Any questions dont hesitate to ask!

    Great video! I have a question. I currently have the RC-30 but am hoping to upgrade to the 300 soon, for the very reason that it has the ability to transition between verse/chorus. But before I purchase this item I must understand some things more clearly. When performing live, how do you lay out each track in realtime? Do you have to perform each instrumental section (verse, chorus, bridge) separately before the song properly begins and you start singing? Do you have to lay down each backing track section before actually performing the song sequentially? Or can each section be played in realtime? I'm really stuck on this. Thank you!
    Also one more thing: Would if I have say a prechorus & chorus that has 2 different rhythm & bass arrangements? How can I get this to program & transition smoothly?

    • @deanwolfechannel
      @deanwolfechannel  4 года назад +1

      Thanks, the boomerang phrase 3 sampler is comparable to the boss rc300, I have both and recommend you compare (I’ll make that video soon), but let me tackle your question re the rc300: to lay out tracks real-time is easy, basically click loop 1, do it, click loop 2, perform, then 3, perform then close 3 by clicking it again or hitting 1 or 2 and that closes it then you are playing back loops and playing along with your tracks. Now you could just sing along the entire time while you record you loops, so there’s no sense of the audience waiting for you to lay down the tracks. OR you can record them in advance , up to 100 in fact, and just turn on and play along. Generally the rhythm has to be consistent throughout each individual song, though there are tricks which I should also tackle in a vid, thanks for giving me ideas of my upcoming videos!

      @@deanwolfechannelThank you so much! And thanks for the suggestion. I will check out the Boomerang Phase 3 as well. But you see the I'm trying to find a better setup for playing my original music live. The thing is one of my song's is played quietly on the piano during the verses but once the prechorus comes in, the bass & drums kicks in at that moment as I'm already singing, leading into the chorus where it slightly changes. I wrote this using my Boss RC-30 however because of the arrangement of the song, it wasn't compatible to loop so I literally recorded the whole song through then added the bass & drum once the whole 2.5 minute song was recorded into the machine haha. I know there must be easier ways. I would like to figure out how a song like that can be done in realtime. Like I said, when the prechorus comes in, the bass & drum sneaks in as I'm singing. Any ideas on how I can make this work? Your advice is very helpful. Thank you.

      Also on a sidenote, I looked into the Boomerang. I'm not too familiar with their products but it seems great! I am wondering though if this is compatible with the Boss RC-30? And since you say the Boomerang is comparable to the RC-300 , could I just get the Boomerang instead of the 300? Which would you say is best? Thank you.

    • @deanwolfechannel
      @deanwolfechannel  4 года назад +1

      @@violetflame5290 they are both good. The boomerang doesn't store anything away, whereas the rc300 has 99 programmable memories. The boom has very small footprint. The rc has drums on it. But I scratch and tap my acoustic to create a percussion loop and can play along with it on the boomerang. Gotta make a video about it asap

    Really bad way to teach how to program. You just go "do this, then do that, then do this ...." with no explanation as to what the settings mean or how you went about planning the settings to create a song. Much better to start with the song, explain how you break it down into parts, and then explain how you translate those parts to RC-300 tracks and settings, all the while relating how RC-300 settings are impacting the musical goals of your song design.
