Thank you for such a detailed explanation about how to make these corners. I was making the inside of a seat cushion to hold the shredded foam today and I was having a hard time trying to figure out how to do it. Your video made it so easy to understand all the steps needed to make it correctly. You are a great teacher!
What a blessing your video has been. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌👌👌After struggling for days, this video solved my problem in minutes. Thank you so so much.. Many many blessings..
I just want to say thank you so very much I have never seen anyone show what they were doing close up like you did you are so great of a sore I do so a lot but sometimes there's things I don't know how to do in your square corners was one of them I am making a Halloween costume for my friend and needed that technique thank you and how you show to do step by step is absolutely amazing thank you again from a crafter of many years
Wendy this is like a private, close up lesson in how to sew boxed corners. It's better than going to a class because I can watch it over and over until I get it, which has happened quickly with your excellent, close up video. Many thanks to you. I have subscribed to your videos.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have just spent 2 hours watching useless (for me) videos to show me how to make covers for my one inch high cushions. Finally found you, and your method is so easy!! Great tutorial. Will be finally making my cushion covers tomorrow!!
What a great tutorial!! You are very clear & I love how nice & close up you show it. I've watched several of these "how to box corners" this is the best I've seen. Thank you
Madam, that was an excellent demo for stitching perfectly aligned boxed corners. Your idea of using a pin to check the alignment, was superb !! I used to have a tough time adjusting it. I will use this tip now. Thanks.
o thank you soooo much!!!! i been sewing pillows for a long time as a hobby , thank you for this lesson!!! am going to use this a lot. your a good teacher!!!!!!! am all smiles! you learn something new everyday!!!
The lady at Fabricland told me to do a how-to video search for Box Corners and I am so glad this was the very first video I watched. Very clear. I just need to understand now, when considering doing a slip cover for a doll bed's mattress, how much of a rectangle I need to start with (top and bottom) that will allow me to do 4 corners in this 'box corner' fashion and get my final perfect fit for a 2" depth. Very good start to understanding this technique! Thank you
Can someone please explain how much width and height is lost from your project when you box the bottom. I am trying to create a pattern and this is a bit confusing.
I need to know how to serge box corners of a heavy tool bag that has side pockets all around the outside. Multiple layers of tough fabric and heavy vinyl. I have done it before, guessing. It was tough, but I got it done. - Rectangle bottom panel - Four separate side panels, with vinyl pocket the width of each panel
Thank you for sharing! I always have such a hard time getting my "boxes" to be the same length on each side and I a can see how this will solve the issue!
Hi Wendy, I am making a long pillow case shaped cover for my grandson. How would you measure the corners of the nap mat to measure down for the corner seams? I really like you method of doing corners. Darla
my question is how to sew a tote bag with the pointy bottom caught (like you are boxing) in the side seam but is on the outside of the bag. (I know a picture is like a thousand words.) I did this once as a happy accident but cant remember how I did it.
Ok so for example if you want a backpack that has a 6 inch depth to it you need to box sew a 3 inch to make it a 6 inch when it's finished? It seems patterns is that big elephant in the room. I know how patterns are made but I cant find real life examples of pattern design of a backpack and proper boxing techniques with sewing. I just started sewing myself so I'm only at the grace of RUclips for learning. If you have any demos or know of any backpack pattern styles I can learn from, please sent some links. Thanks in advance.
I don't have any patterns to direct you to - but if you want your backpack to be 6 inches deep, then that's the width that the base of the triangle (your box bottom) needs to be.
Do you have any instruction for determining how big of a rectangle to start with, depending on the depth you want? I found a pattern for a doll bed mattress that shows how to get a box with a depth of 2 inches but I want my box to have only a 1" depth. How much do I have to add to the width and length of the rectangle pieces in order to get a 1" depth instead of 2"?

I was wondering about that. Thanks for sharing. I would love to know how to in crochet projects, so I'm now on the hunt, 😆

TY Wendi! Needed a reminder, perfect!

They would be - thanks!

You are a lifesaver! Thank you!!!!
Wonderful! Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much :-D
THX the best video I have found U ROCK
How would you apply this technique to backpacks? Is it the same method or different technique? Thanks in advance
It really depends on the pattern. This is a pretty common technique in backpack and bag patterns - you don't need to do anything different.
I don't have any patterns to direct you to - but if you want your backpack to be 6 inches deep, then that's the width that the base of the triangle (your box bottom) needs to be.
Thanks for this. I have been selling things on my Etsy and I’m making a lion kind bundle. I wanted to try something new. Thanks
I want your little mouse pattern
Thank you so clear and concise
Do you have any instruction for determining how big of a rectangle to start with, depending on the depth you want? I found a pattern for a doll bed mattress that shows how to get a box with a depth of 2 inches but I want my box to have only a 1" depth. How much do I have to add to the width and length of the rectangle pieces in order to get a 1" depth instead of 2"?
Rachel Swanson im having the SAME problem! Ugh!
Oh, this is just what I needed!! ❤
I always double-sew my seams for more reinforcement.
Sometimes I do that with tote bags - if I know I'm going to carry something heavy with them.
Thanks you So Much !! Very easy to See ..
Great vid. Thanks!
