- Just want to reiterate in Illustrator-- draw your object with NO stroke. Big part haha anyway-- I hope you enjoyed my "I'm not ready to fully learn how to sculpt" tutorial! I think the whole process of making 6ish masks took about an hour-- so pretty quick.

Great little video as always. Yours are so simple and my favourite blender videos.
I really appreciate that! Thank you!
Just found your channel. Whenever I stumble onto a channel like yours I get FOMO for all the other fantastic small channels I haven't discovered. Great stuff!
I really appreciate it! Thank you!
Cool mask my friend. Savage Goblins are fun and can't wait to see more things related to them.
Thank you! Yeah-- I'll definitely have a video on them if I can paint one well haha
def want to try this for vehicle drawings
That would be cool-- especially in your style. Your art is amazing!
I have always wanted to use grease pencil and convert to mesh but it never seems to work out at all. Using SVG is a great idea and you got clean results 🙌
Grease pencil scares me. Thank you very much!
What a great little tool to add the ol' bag of tricks!
I thought so too! Thank you!
goated video as always. great stuff bmo
bless brother
loved seeing the plank easter egg lol
lmao plank had to make an appearance. Nice job noticing :D
damnn, thanks for the upload!
No problem!
Okay, what's the Poly-count on your model & can you make a cube or sphere from it?
The masks have around 3k polys and 1.5k vertices! Hmm... you could probably by beveling and extruding. BUT, I would just press Shift + A and add a cube or sphere mesh to do that!
How do you get the holes in the masks? I’m trying to create a board, just flat surface, with a number of holes in a very specific pattern, but every time I convert to mesh, it messes up the entire thing by trying to connect the holes to the edges of the board but not the middle.
Sometimes the SVG can export kinda funky (like letters not showing up or holes being weirdly "filled"). I normally fix it by increasing the SVG "decimal" to like 10 when exporting it in Illustrator.
Nice!
Thank you!
yep! very cool! it's nice to see how the blender community grows, please see my projects in 3d when you have a couple of minutes
Thank you! haha wow! That trailer looks like it should be a video game!
Cool ez tutorial ive seen
Thank you!!
great idea, tho you can do all that 2D geometric blocking straight in blender, no?
You definitely can! I just like using illustrator
When you say shapes with no border, what exactly does that mean? Admittedly im tired atm but for some reason my brain isnt grasping that sentence well enough to run with it lol... do you mean just make the shapes squared off like quads?
In Illustrator (or whatever Illustrator-like software you're using) I mean using shapes that don't have an outline (or "stroke"). So the mask at 1:03 is made up of many shapes-- none of which have an "outline." Everything has a fill with no outline. You can get rid of the outline (stroke) by selecting the right most color box and choosing the "color" that is a white box with a red line going through it.
imgur.com/gallery/x5xGxEo here is a lil' diagram of what I mean
Suggestion love it, but there is a better way to do it for better prints. Although this way works the topology isn't great I suggest using a plane and adding loop cuts then sort of using the model outline to shape it.
Thank you! I agree with you-- you can also remesh it later, but it's probably better to just sculpt it in blender first.
@@iPaintSmallThings Yeah man it's all good. I love your channel very quality content, but I do more modeling than kitbashing and sculpting scares me lol
@@iPaintSmallThings Btw get a discord server please.
@@keshavraman7739 I really appreciate it m8! haha I used to do a little modeling in zBrush-- but that was a hot minute ago
@@iPaintSmallThings ooh nice
Where can you download Illustrator and Blender?
Illustrator is part of Adobe's Creative Cloud -- which I warn you is pretty expensive. There are a lot of other free alternatives for it (blog.hubspot.com/marketing/adobe-free-alternatives). Blender is free and can be downloaded off of the Blender site or you can download it on steam!
Is there any way I can do this by real life measurements?
In Illustrator you can size shapes with the dimensions on the top bar (it defaults to pixels, but if you type in "in" or "cm" it will match). In blender, you can select an object, press "n" and in the "item" tab that shows up, you can adjust the dimensions of the object (it defaults to mm so you'll have to convert whatever measurement you want into that).
i don't get it
how does he have set to origin and convert
You select an object (or all in this case) and right click! All the options are in that lil' tab that pops up. Hopefully that helps!
how would i draw without a border on inkscape
www.tutorviacomputer.com/inkscape/inkscape-strokes-and-fills/ this should do it! You want to remove the "stroke."
@@iPaintSmallThings what exactly do i do? i have the JPG picture
@@iPaintSmallThings but what do i use to make the shapes
@@HesOracle I'm not sure because I haven't used inkscape-- but you'd probably need to edit the picture in inkscape first.
You may need to "image trace" the JPG first to edit it.

@@HesOracle I'd start by looking up tutorials for Inkscape! Such as "how to draw" or "how to create shapes in inkscape." There are a lot of shape tools/pen tools you can use, I believe.
