I absolutely LOVE my PENTAX, it's a K-70. I've had a few other brands but the Pentax has so much more for the price and even though it's not full frame nor mirrorless or other things, it has A LOT of features. I haven't even explored every single feature in the many years I've owned it. Pentax is not "point 'n shoot" it's "compose and shoot and shoot and shoot" so much fun. Pentax quality is on top and my favorite.

Pentax is a niche brand in nowadays, and THAT niche brand brought bup the only viable alternative to the Leica Monochrome at in comparison ridicoulous low pricepoint.
The sales figures of the K3-III Mono are to be compaired to the Leica Mono, and i think they are way higher than expected.
If you use your DLSR to share pictures on social media in fact the better way is to use your phone, a DLSR makes more sense if you want to use your picture in larger scales.
I'm glad to have my Pentax DLSRs and a bunch of lenses, the only problem is that there are no more NEW Third party lenses like Sigma Art,but in trerms of manual primes companies like Samyang, Laowa, Rokinon, Irix have interesting offers for special needs. And in comparison to Sony Gmaster or Nikon lenses also the original from Pentax have way better price.
Weathersealing, rigidity, Astrotracer are features different to find on competitors.
I'm curious in the K1-III, if it will replace my K1-II.

I'm uncertain about Pentax future as well...but all ILC camera sales are down in the last 10-15 years. Phone cameras are just that good. You mentioned that too. One good thing? I may not have to worry about anyone wanting to rob me for the camera! LOL. If Pentax ever quits I'm thinking I will be able to pick up all the high end lenses for cheap on eBay when some folks dump their kits. Also I'll pickup spare bodies as support may dry up. At some point I'll get one of those Monster adapters so I can use my lenses on a mirrorless body. As you mentioned, a lot of Pentaxians are already shooting other brands as you do. I, myself, have not yet. Heck, I have not even mastered my K3mk3 yet! Oh...and I will be getting a Monochrome mk3. over and out.

I've been thinking of what PENTAX should do for the future, and I can't think of many things that don't include mirrorless which they won't do. I don't know how they'll survive for the future either 😢

But we shoot on and love the system. Looking out the window currently and the clouds are insane. Going to get a few shots. Cheers

Pentax Monochrome is the best B&W only camera on the market and it doesn't cost $6000+ like the Leica Q Mono or M11 Mono. I am loving mine and paired with my K3iii, great kit. With regard to your comment on using the Android operating system, Zeiss did that a few years ago and released the ZX1, it had great specs, but then the 'vid came along and the release was delayed and then they released it late with its specs were a little behind the current day specs (mostly focus speed) and it was $$$. Anyway, my long comment is to say, I own one (picked it up for 2/3 the new price), it runs on Android it has a slower startup, but one can post direct to Instagram or Facebook and can upload direct to Adobe Cloud. It didn't do well, Zeiss has discontinued it, but I think that was the timing of release and $$$ more than anything. Thx.

The Pentax film cams can start a new revolution. Since only Leica is making decent film cameras these days.

I feel like Pentax's lens lineup is severely lacking in prime lenses that are a combination of: a) wider than a 35mm equivalent on APS-C, b) f/2 or faster, and c) has autofocus.
Young people (who would be ideal Pentax customers in the future) are accustomed to wider focal lengths and faster apertures similar to what they get on their phones (or point & shoots like the Ricoh GR and Fujifilm X100 series), so Pentax really ought to create a lens or two that would cater to that demographic. Maybe re-release the 24mm f/2 that you mentioned at the end, but with an HD coating.

I'd buy a new 300 f4 if they made one. The old one just can't keep up with my k3iii unfortunately

I am a Pentax user, K50, that I bought used for less than $200. I also shoot Canon MILC, R6 Mk2, and I have a few thoughts on this topic.
    1) Younger users generally speaking, want instant access to their photos so they can post them immediately. They’re more concern with getting their “story” on socials than how good the image is. So Bluetooth and WiFi are necessary to attract that market.
    2) The KF wasn’t a great launch. It’s essentially an expensive K-70 with a better LCD. Pentax should have put SAFOX 12 in that launch, not SAFOX X. The used market for K-70/K-3 models is good and good options can be found for less than $400. Why would anyone pay even $700 for a KF? Not enough actual improvement in the camera.
    3) Lack of new lenses. Their lenses aren’t updated very frequently and the used lens market is decent. Why pay $1000 for an SDM lens when the used copy is $300? You’re right, they need to rebuild their lenses in PLM.
    4) Stop calling the KF an entry level camera. Despite what I said in point 2, the features on that camera put it more in the semi-pro or prosumer level of camera. Market appropriately. The lack of a “KF level” full frame camera might be a miss. The Canon R8 is selling well.
    5) The K3III and K1II are too expensive, especially the K3III. Even at $1700 the camera is $400 more expensive than a camera like the Canon R7, which has a lot more capabilities. Great cameras, but how does Pentax compete with the capabilities a MILC offers that is $400 less in price?
    5) If Pentax wants to keep moving forward and develop DSLRs the have to offer something totally different. Maybe a hybrid OVF with some type of augmented reality, I don’t know, but something very unique to stay in their niche and maybe bring some consumers back over to DSLRs.

I think they need to advertise a little more. Like in a movie or something so the name gets out like it used too. Most younger have never even heard of Pentax.

I could imagine that if they brought out the analog cameras and advertised them properly, things could improve again. They have to advertise!

Pentax is great not tried that ! But still best output Monochrome and colour Is the Slow Old Evolt 500 Fact ! 2200 dollars vs 100 dollar Camera Love to see the comparison if both Had primes on ?

    • @diegoscopia
      @diegoscopia 5 месяцев назад +1

Yeah but that E-500 barely has any primes, and even then they are expensive. I say that as a E-system user.
