This comment has made my day. You have completely grasped the point of this song. Whatever beliefs you may have, whatever God you worship, give love and caring to others; that's all I wanted to say. Thank you for your comment ❤️
In the meaning that society assigns to the term “woke” no sir. That he is not. The only way you can reconcile that idea is to only see Jesus as all loving and forgiving without the other side of the “coin” that shows He is the God of righteousness and justice who will have no fellowship with sin and darkness. You cannot have one without the other. Or you’ll end up creating a God in your own image aka idolatry. We cannot see God the Son apart from God the Father. So tread lightly when you say Jesus is “woke”…
Society doesn't appear to have an assigned definition of what "woke" means. The only point of this song is to point out that, originally, the word simply means "alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination" and I entirely believe that this applies to Jesus; whether you agree or not with this point is up to you. What I'm against, however, is the weaponisation of the word "woke" to discredit people with any form of empathy in modern politics. I stand firmly against that idea. Finally, do you believe in freedom of speech? Because "tread lightly when you say..." seems fundamentally against the idea. I don't believe I have been aggressive in this song or attacked anyone, either directly or indirectly. I say right at the beginning of the song that I'm not religious, so if you're warning me of what will happen to me when I die... If God is real, I'm pretty sure I'm done for, whatever silly song I do or do not write.
I don't get why heathens think that love thy neighbor means to tolerate their sins. If you truly love someone, you'll tell them the error of their ways
@@TheSebbyHour I mean, woke in the modern sense has a history of not being grammatically correct, anyway. I mean, the original meaning of saying "I'm woke" essentially meant "I've woken up", which is essentially the same meaning as the one I was joking about. Of course, I don't think people will read it that way, I just thought it was kind of funny to think about it that way
@@TheSebbyHour Yeah lol. Or even funnier, is if they only looked at the thumbnail, thought it was a song about how "Jesus rose from the dead for sins", and left a super affirming comment thinking that you're a conservative Christian lol. I wouldn't put it past modern attention spans tbh
The song's underlying message is to accept others, even if they are different from you and to be loving and respectful of everyone. I make this point by saying that Jesus is "woke" because certain political groups have been weaponising the word "woke" against certain groups of people to invalidate their arguments. I use the definition of woke that is to be "alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination". This annoys certain people who see woke as being an insult. Hope this answers your question 😊
Brilliant 👏 👏 👏 👏 I loved it! ❤ And: yes, please sweet sweet Christians don't exclude poeple from the church 🙏 And Sebby ... are you thinking about setting up a membership? Because I would like become one. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it 😊 I'm not eligible to set up memberships yet, I need quite a lot more watch hours on the channel and to hit 500 subscribers before I can do that. But I'm touched that you would want to become a member of the channel ❤️
@TheSebbyHour You will have 500 before this month is over. And the views will trickle in faster then you think. The comments are very promising.... poeple really connect with your work as do I. Mathematically you have nothing to worry about... I calculated you only have a 0.01 percent chance of failure. 😂
Is that the official statistic? 😂😂😂 Well I hope you're right, I try my best to make something I would enjoy watching in the hopes that other people connect with it too. I know I keep saying it but it's really heartwarming to see such a positive response 😊
@@TheSebbyHour Yeah, it's great to see poeple comment so positively. I always read them because they are also witty and entertaining. Btw If you feel touched by the heartwarming response (I would too) ... it's because you started it! 😊
Dang, the algorithm really caught the conservative Christians on this one lol. I suppose they're the ones who need to hear it, but they're also the ones who likely won't give it any credence and will just make negative comments.
This video has the highest proportion of dislikes of my whole channel, that says a lot to me 😂 Ironically, all I do in this song is call for acceptance, charity and love. Some people just don't like that I guess 😅
@@TheSebbyHour I think a lot of it is kind of just rage bait. People see the thumbnail and title, and jump in raring to harp on "woke liberalist agenda", and don't take the time to actually listen or think about it
But then I did know that would be a thing when I posted this... Part of the reason is I wanted the algorithm to recommend it to people with more conservative, even going into alt-right political views. It's easy to post a video and target it at people who agree with you and will tell you how clever you are... But it also would null the whole point of this song in my opinion 😅 If only one person listens to it and thinks about how it might affect their views, despite not even necessarily agreeing with it, then I'll be happy. 😊
@@TheSebbyHour Yeah, it makes sense, and even as unlikely as it is to actually change people's minds on things like this, I fully believe that it's still worth it to try. Because it's not quite as unlikely as people assume, and if no one tries, change will never actually happen.
I also think that alt-right views have utterly inundated discourse online and is turning many normal people into quite hateful and bitter people... I just want the other side to have a bit of a say as well. I'm tired of woke being used as an insult to discredit certain people's views... It should literally be a compliment... When did caring, empathy and plain acceptance become associated with weakness and being "woke"? If anything, I think it's more difficult to stand up and fight for your values and for respect, even when you're not directly and personally being threatened, than it is to lean on individualism and moral superiority. *Tldr:* the way the world is going politically terrifies me at the moment, so I wrote a funny song.
So, according to you, Jesus / God are not "alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination." That's the dictionary definition of woke. Also... @TheSebbyHour capitalization doesn't matter, the social issues god approaches are not that of your so called "wokeness" read leviticus before you say something ridiculous again
Capitalisation entirely matters as it changes a proper noun into just a noun. He is either a god or God, the capital makes the difference between the two. This song, ironically, promotes love and acceptance which are allegedly Christian values, yet a lot of comments have been very judgemental, angry and blatantly aggressive. Since you've suggested some reading for me, here are a few verses for you: Matthew 5:9 Matthew 5:39 James 1:19 Corinthians 16:14 If this song is a sin. What are your comments?

As I've reminded other people in this comment section; woke means to be "alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination", do you not think this applies to Jesus. I make another point about riches in this song "give away those riches that you own" as a point about how the "American Dream" of being rich is quite ironic coming from such a Christian country.
