One of my friends shared this video yesterday. As soon as I listened to it I said 'That's it.' It is a magic how you have created a brand new atmosphere around this old song. I simply love it. Erik your voice, and the way you sing is fantastic.
@@ipaharpoon I agree with both of you. I prefer the song as performed by The Animals. But The Animals - just kids, really, when the song was released - don't look like they belong in the song. This Gronwall fellow, though, absolutely looks the part. He's a bad boy who belongs in New Orleans at the Rising Sun.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, though I don't think one has the same weight and power as the Animals version. The organ is so much more powerful than the piano in this one. As far as "the original", I challenge you to identify who the original author is. If your implication is that the Animals version is the original, it is not. It's merely the most popular recorded version of the song.
He is really fantastic!🙏 thank you so much for a really good perfomance!❤ I'm proud as a Swedish citizen! And thank you for a really good react! ❤ Happy Christmas!🥰
Erik. Wow. This sent shivers down my spine. I live in Georgia. When I was only 13 or 14 I went with my dad to New Orleans. He was a truck driver. We spent a weekend there a couple of times. A friend of mine that I knew who lived there had an old army jeep that he drove. He was only a year or two older than me. Well, on Saturday night he drove me to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Wow, how this old country boy's eyes were opened to the evils of this world. I'll never forget that. Mamas tell your children not to do what I have done. Cause I know, I'm one. What a timely warning. And one that should be heeded. Erik - I love your music, but this one struck home with me. Erik, my wife and I are praying for your health. We want you here with us. We love your music. Thanks Erik

Many great artists have done that song and raised the bar high. You Sir have raised it higher still. To the point where I don't think anyone else could succeed to top it. Well done, extremely well done.
Erik, I love the fact that you stepped away from Skid Row and took a look at life, the future. I'm an old man, there is a lot of things I regret doing and even more things I regret NOT doing, not doing while I was young. You're at an age where you can look at things with a clean perspective, you can look at hiking, biking, climbing, going to the beach, the desert, the mountains, and enjoying things while you still can because you are the rare thing: Someone young who knows that the ability to enjoy things will eventually taper off until we're laying alone in a hospital bed, filled with regrets. You are gifted with a talent that surpasses that of typical vocal virtuosos, your songs have brought happiness and calm to millions of people and we greatly appreciate your gift that you share with us. No fooling, no kidding, your voice inspires and lifts our souls, our own lives which may be happy, sad, or merely blase. I am damn grateful that I found your channel, found your songs, and found your amazing voice. It's Thanksgiving in America, and you are a treasure that I am thankful I found on line.

The Animals was one of my favorite groups growing up in the 60s, far more than the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, by far. THIS version is fantastic! Thank you for sharing it with us all! New subscriber!
I luv Erik's voice I luv Jonatee piano skills. I luv what you guys create. Congrats on a million views . Erik Grönwall you deserve this. Luv from South Africa
That...was freaking...amazing. I mean, wow. What a phenomenal rendition of a great song. Well done, sir. ❤
Thank you Erik... I am a simple Finn.. when I hear something good.. I recognize it... and this is something goosebump-teary good !!!! 😊
Finland ♥️ thank you very much

GEEEES 😳 This is something else, this is ART ❤
My favorite song of all time. My ringtone for 10 years. Now THIS is my absolute favorite version!!! F'n chills...
Wait for it. Like a mini supernova. What a voice.
Wow, just wow, heard many versions of this over the years but you my friends blew them all out of the water. Truly outstanding.
This is an absolutely mega version of a classic. The slow atmospheric piano draws you in . Then you get the heavy guitar at the end wow
The most epic version
I’ll say this is a hauntingly beautiful cover. Wonderful job!
My mom taught me how to play this song on guitar decades ago. She died in 2022, and I kept her guitar, meaning to learn how to play it again. Maybe I will learn it again before I die, but thank you for this rendition.
Goosebumps from the very first note ❤❤❤
One of my friends shared this video yesterday. As soon as I listened to it I said 'That's it.' It is a magic how
you have created a brand new atmosphere around this old song. I simply love it. Erik your voice, and the way you sing is fantastic.
Johnny Cash vibes at the start, pure Erik and Jona by the end. Mind officially blown.
Johnny
I have heard The Animals version of the song. I have got to say that this gentleman, Erik Grönwall, literally took this song to a higher level. Wow..
it's good, but nothing tops the original.
@@ipaharpoonI love the original too but this version has me listening over and over…
This is the best cover of this song I have ever heard. And I grew up listening to the original.
Still prefer The Animals version! just my opinion.
@@Brigand231 I meant original as in Rock/Blues, no idea who the very original was.
Ditto. Was introduced to this song by The Animals, thinking I was either 10 or 11. Didn't think anyone could beat it, but wrong!
I'm 64 and I've never heard a better version!
I'm 61 and agree!
It's hard to explain the feelings that this song produces, brought me to tears .
Tears, just tears, brilliance all round, another side of your incredible vocal, that growl! When you cut loose, heaven calls
I absolutely love his style, voice and take of this song. A masterpiece!!!!!
He is really fantastic!🙏 thank you so much for a really good perfomance!❤ I'm proud as a Swedish citizen! And thank you for a really good react! ❤ Happy Christmas!🥰
That was incredible! You turned that song into your own haunting masterpiece. And that video! It was so well done, perfection all around.
YOU THE BEST! Thanks girl! 🙏🏻😘
He did 100%!!!🖤🖤🖤💋
Best version i've ever heard. Goosebumps everywhere. This song is in my Playlist
Erik. Thanks Erik
Thank you for sharing your story and for being here!!
Wow this is really rocking upgrade of a great song! Awesome! 🤘Thank you for sharing your power! 🤘
At the beginning I didn't suspect that such a voice would come out of this man. 😮
Merry Christmas (soon) from Germany.
🙏🏻♥️ thank you so much!! I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving! I appreciate you!
The algorithm may have brought me here but you sir deserve a subscribe and a like. That was amazing.
Well hello there! Finding this version was one helluva happy accident ❤
Halfway to 1 million views in 2 weeks. Yeah, this thing is going to a billion. Erik is untouchable.
The way this song was meant to be- the piano takes you there. Excellent work- takes me back to better times.
Whoa! I love a song that gives goosebumps. You know the singer nailed it! That keyboard was most excellent also!
It’s hard to create what is already had been created but you did it , respect
When I've read the cover I thought oh no, it won't work, no one could ever cover this song. But you've shown me otherwise, it's so unique, it couldn't be better. Thank you, it's truly amazing!
Quelle voix extraordinaire, époustouflante...😮! Quelles superbes reprises! J’Ai 62 ans et fan des seventies, j’adore cette reprise d’EriC Burdon.... et celle-ci est tout simplement merveilleuse, merci à EriK! ❤
Never heard of this guy before, but I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this song (since the first time I heard it), and he NAILS it!!!!!
Absolutely brilliant, Erik. This is better than the original in my opinion. You did an incredible job on this. Well done.
Wow, thank you!
Erick, my Mother used hear this song when i was child. Now she rest in peace since 2009 and she took away my heart with her. Tks from Brazil
Erik does a fantastic job here. But I want to give the cred to Jona Tee (H.E.A.T.) best friend to Erik, producer and mixer of this track. He playes all instruments and I’m sure they made the arrangements together. Jona is a musical genius and shouldn’t be forgotten. ❤
born in New Orleans......tears,,,,Thank you God ....thank you for saving my daughters life tonight from homelessness and addiction,,,
Blessings and love to all my soul family here....I Love Y,all Bless Erik for this Masterpiece My Hearts in Big Sky
Guy is an amazing vocalist gift to the world.
