I originally had my heart set on a bobber. When I took one for a test ride we just didn't gel. Nothing wrong with it, as such, but no spark . Took the speedy out for a spin and within 5 minutes I was working out which one of my kidneys to sell to fund it! That was nearly 3 years ago and I love my Speedmaster a little more everyday. Yeah, she's no sports bike, but she handles way better than it should. All day comfortable and you look as cool as penguin piss to boot! Always draws a crowd, normally an old fella who "had one of those back in 63". Not ashamed to admit I'm a bit of a fan boy, if you hadn't guessed!
Ashley, in normal riding scraping pegs is not an issue, especially if you lean off the inside of the bike. I'm not talking full on Rossi but a shift in bodyweight none the less. If you push a little harder it is quite easy to ground the "Hero Blobs" The bike is well within its limits and if you fit titanium blobs you can produce an impressive display of sparks!
It's the Speedmaster for me. The SM is like a Bobber they've made comfortable and a little more practical. Still plenty of fun and lovely to look at. I don't think it's really a 'cruiser' at all. It's a wonderful balance between classic road bike, bobber and cruiser.
I love my Speedmaster. Tried the Bobber, but found the seating that little more cramped. I put the comfort seat on the Speedy (looks like it comes standard now?), a Dart fly screen, now it is fit for a king. Next change - engine mods to give a little more oomph.
I love my Speedmaster. I have the tall windshield and I’m wanting to get Viking bags and a Corbin seat with the back rest. I’ll be ready for some multi day trips I have planned.
Great review! Shame I came upon it 2 years later. Quick question..Who would you recommend doing small performance upgrades, styling etc here in Melbourne/Sydney?? TIA.
I first locked my attention on the Speedmaster just recently, went out and sat on one and looked at all of the (almost unanimously) positive reviews. Then I went on Triumph's website and configured one to my likeing (just for the heck of it, it's basically winter here, gotta wait for Spring anyway), and lo and behold - I had configured myself a Bobber.. :D Now I'm hard set on the Bobber. My riding is mostly in the city, I ride alone and I'm coming from big-bore single-cylinder enduro/supermoto bikes that don't really scream comfort anyway, so a Bobber sounds like an upgrade :D
Hey @info_moto do you by chance know the top speed of the newer speedmasters?? Was just reading that the bobber and the speedmaster might have different top speeds.. Cheers and thanks, Cole
Hands down the Bobber!! Put some mini ape handle bars and forward foot controls with floor boards and now you have the total package with the exception of riding solo vs two up. The Bobber gives you that biker Harley-look (somewhat) and has plenty of room for upgrades such as better Hines & Kane exhaust pipes and wider tires if one chooses for a dragster street racer look combined with the biker look. The Bobber is NOT a long road trip bike…but it’s NOT boring either and gets way more looks than the comfortable “grandpa” Speedmaster…hey it is what it is. I would rather keep the edge with the Bobber which would also appeals to more people of ALL ages for re-sale as well as just for overall taste, than get trapped into a very comfortable yet aged and boring bike…again, “it is what it is”. End of the day we buy cars and bikes in large part for their looks…which also.seems to make riding it that much more fun, just like dating a hot chick, rather than a the woman that looks like a more buttoned up version of your mom. The Bobber IS that “Hot Chick”….PERIOD, DONT BELIEVE WHAT ANYONE ELSE SAYS!!
I got my 2009 speedmaster as a repairable write off in 2012. $8500. fixed it Still love it. One thing is you can't keep your legs on the tank for long on the highway. I have crash bars and will fit perspex to shield my legs. Til now I just ride splay legged just like a Harley rider. Only other way is to ride legs out back like the old Vincent photo :D
I like your review. I think you have potential. Subscribed. I love the look of this bike but am leaning towards the Speed Twin. I don’t agree about wanting better electronics. I prefer no electronics. Except maybe a headlight.
I'm due to test ride one of these soon alongside a t120 - which would you recommend for around town? im worried parking this and cutting through traffic maybe a bit more difficult than the t120 based on looks?
Yeah. Great bike. Looks probably bobber. But id go with Speedmaster due to its practicality and comfort. How is counter steering with those handlebars.
VERY NICE; WISH IT HAD DUAL SCREENS TO SEE ALL YOU NEED. THE DIGITAL IS TOO SMALL OR NOT AT ALL IN THE SUN. NO MENTION IN MOST VDO'S OF TRACTION CONTROL AND ITS ACTION IN RAIN OR AROUND THE CORNERS. MOST TALK ABOUT LOOKS,CHARACTER VS. RIDING FEATURES, MODES. NO SELECTABLE REAR SUSPENSION; NO TPMS, NO ENGIN TEMPS. PILLION SEAT THAT NEEDS REPLACED, BADLY.
I near hi sided my gsxr11 H over that bridge..... Hands, feet and arse not touching the bike..... I then went on to trowel my fzr600e trying to drag an elbow through skyline.... On Michelin A49's......👍
I went to look at one at my local dealers and was surprised at how small it was. I'm 6'1'' and really love the look and sound of the SM,but don't want to look like a tit riding it.
kilawatt and Newton meters come on man you people invented the damn language horsepower and torque there's something said to be a little respectful of the past. For heaven's sake you're riding a bike that looks like it was designed in the sixties in the 2,000 It's 2022 It's hilarious just say horsepower and torque what the hell is kilowatts and Newton meters all this damn talk about gender this and gender that for the last 13 thousands and 1000 thousands of thousands of years it was just 2 damn genders and now we're gonna change it well the same thing goes for horsepower and torque We've been using it forever there's no reason to change it I don't care what your argument is everyone understands horsepower and torque. You guys already ruined the world with meters and centimeters and kilos and all this other crap miles yards inches ounces pounds gallons come on.

Yep, spot on Paul.. i get guys coming up all the time and chatting about it..
Can you tell me your experience with cornering? Specifically, I HATE scraping pegs, so I would like to know if this has been an issue for you?
Ashley, in normal riding scraping pegs is not an issue, especially if you lean off the inside of the bike. I'm not talking full on Rossi but a shift in bodyweight none the less. If you push a little harder it is quite easy to ground the "Hero Blobs"

Like that you show someone actually sitting on the motorcycle as wel as the usual walkround abd requisite over the handlebar riding video. Thanks
I have a Speedmaster and I"m loving it. Definitely more practical and versatile.
I love my Speedmaster. Tried the Bobber, but found the seating that little more cramped. I put the comfort seat on the Speedy (looks like it comes standard now?), a Dart fly screen, now it is fit for a king. Next change - engine mods to give a little more oomph.
I agree Dave, let us know what mods you do.. I may follow suit..:-)
I love my Speedmaster. I have the tall windshield and I’m wanting to get Viking bags and a Corbin seat with the back rest. I’ll be ready for some multi day trips I have planned.
Love my Speedmaster....handles as good as my Bonny Black and even better on those windy days
Good review Spencer, Ive had my Speedy for 2 years..absolutely love it.
Thanks mate! They're grouse things.
Speedmaster for me being able to take my wife or grown up kids out is a dream, cracking review buddy 😀👌
Speed master for me as a bike to live with for years.
Great review! Shame I came upon it 2 years later. Quick question..Who would you recommend doing small performance upgrades, styling etc here in Melbourne/Sydney?? TIA.
Great, honest review, just subscribed.
Love my Speedy

I love the look of the bobber but as an old boy with a bad back and a double hip replacement I like the look of the speed master’s seat 😂
barrel grips :) ......Speedmaster for me - nice video. Cheers from Canada, Ronny
The Triumph Speedmaster is by far the most beautifully designed old-school British classic - I choose this one :)

6 years ago I instinctively and instantly love the Bobber. But the more I get mature my instinct changes toward the speedmaster
I’m in love with my speedmaster
Spencer on the boulevard! Too bad it’s wet! First road I went on the back of a 1982 Honda VF1000R as a 17YO!

Rollie Free is still living through that one photo...

Sorry for the late reply, did you end up test riding the T120 or Speedmaster?
I'm a Soeedmaster fan but like the previous generations style better.
7:06 I've heard them called coke-bottle grips, from the shape. Dates back to 1970's Bonnies and Tridents.
Yeah. Great bike. Looks probably bobber. But id go with Speedmaster due to its practicality and comfort. How is counter steering with those handlebars.
The bars are a bit strange at first but once you get used to it they are really comfortable. Cheers for watching mate!
Thank u for ur review. The question is does the speedmaster has a tyre pressure monitoring system or warning?
Thanks for watching, mate. The Speedmaster does not have a tyre-pressure monitoring system. You have to do it the old-fashioned way!
Which bike do you think is good for beginners?
I think I’m getting a speedmaster in the spring. It’s like riding a couch down the road.
Great review, Spencer.
Good onya, Bill. Thank you.

Beautiful
I have the Bobber and 😍
Speedmaster over a bobber any day
How so, with the forks and bike being longer? I had a 2003 and for me, it was too long. I’m hoping this one is not as lengthy.
Waiting for a blacked out version
ANYONE HAVE A REAR RACK FOR BAGGAGE; PILLION BARS WOULD BE NICE; JUST FOR PROTECTION OF THE SEAT WHEN RUBBED BY SCOOTERE NEIGHBORS OR LAYING IT DOWN.
❤️Speed master ❤️

Holy shite Marty. How quick were you going down Yarra Boulevard to nearly high-side? 😂
@@INFO_MOTO FIIK Snag jnr.... I was chasing a mate ..... probably 4th gear full noise..... I went racing soon after.... 🤣🤣
Geezus...
@@INFO_MOTO how's Greg's trip going?
@@martythompson6509 Covid lockdowns and travel restrictions made it impossible. He's shattered, but one way or another he'll do it eventually.
Great bike, lovely thing but like most modern bikes it looks like its built for small children to ride. Its tiny.
I went to look at one at my local dealers and was surprised at how small it was. I'm 6'1'' and really love the look and sound of the SM,but don't want to look like a tit riding it.
I’m 5’57 and it’s perfect to me !
We have the right to have machines of our size , right ?
CRUZE CONTROLL BUTTONS ARE QUIRKY; SET/RESET LIKE A CAR- WORKS !
Didn't King Arthur get killed with a sword? Do you get a sword with it when you buy one?
I wanna be a aunt... 😂😂
YES HEAVIER THAN MY 750GS BUT DONT FEEL IT BEING LOW WEIGHT. FAR MORE COMFY. NO REASON TO NOT HAVE A BIGGER GAS TANK OF THE SAME SHAPE; HINT HINT.

Donk 😂
